(Y/n)(L/n), an undiscovered gem was what she was supposed to be. A sweet girl with alluring eyes, nothing but elegance radiating out of her. She was everything Ran wanted in a woman. At first sight, he just couldn't look away.
She seemed to have captured the heart of the infamous Ran Haitani in those small hands of hers. Holding on to it so tight, it might just break into infinite fragments. To this day he never knew how she was capable of doing so much without even trying. He wanted her, yearned for her.
Unfortunately, she wasn't his.
"Nii-san, I want to introduce you to my girlfriend". When Rindou first said that, he didn't think much of it. No doubt, he was curious about the girl his brother chose and was looking forward to meeting her. Nonetheless, He was happy that his baby brother finally has a girlfriend.
All good things aside, Rindou was his obvious priority, he was not going to leave any stone unturned. He had plans to investigate the said girl thoroughly all for his brother's happiness.
The day finally arrived, Rindou had informed him that she would be visiting. When she made her appearance, he was instantly drawn, like a moth to a flame. It was obvious she was nervous but as they exchanged words with each other, the situation felt more normal. Rindou was being considerate, trying to bring up things that they could converse about. He wanted to make sure that his brother will approve of his girlfriend.
That day he didn't think much. but now, the more he sees her the more he finds himself falling deeply in love.
When the three of them decided to go to a nearby festival. A goddess was what was standing in front of him. She had dressed up in a lovely floral kimono. He briefly glanced towards Rindou, he looked enchanted, his cheeks dusted in red. Rindou made his way towards her as he held her hand in his.
"You look ok," Rindou quietly mumbled under his breath. Her face said it all, she appreciated the compliment even if it wasn't much. They had fun, Rindou tried to impress her by winning a prize in the shooting game. She looked happy enough with his effort. Every moment felt fun until they went their separate ways.
"Close your eyes," Rindou whispers. Both teenagers are under the moonlight as fireworks burst in the sky. She closed her eyes as Rindou touches her hair, trying to put a beautiful pin in them. Rindou stepped back as she opened her eyes. she looked at him in awe as he thanked him for the beautiful flower hairpiece. She held both his hands hers, a simple gesture that gives him confidence. Now, both her and him are kissing, looking at each other with nothing but love.
Ran didn't mean to see them in their moments, 'it was a coincidence', was what he tells himself. He wonders why he is punishing himself. How can he not feel hurt?
That pin? Rindou was the one who asked him to choose it for you.
Days were he and Rindou snuck into her house were quite often. As famous delinquents, fights were natural. She would scold Rindou as she tenderly treated his wounds.
Sometimes the three of them would eat dinner, binge a random movie, or sleep when too lazy. Her home was a small base for the three of them to bond. Ran knew, that this wasn't his world but he still wanted to be a part of it. Both she and Rindou were not into a lot of PDA. Ran wouldn't say but he was extremely grateful for that. He didn't think he could witness them kissing without him breaking down.
The shampoo he used was the same as hers, his entire face flushed deep red in realization. How can something so small stir up so much emotion in him? Rindou was fast asleep in her bed as she finished the dishes and other formalities so that she could run into the arms of his brother. Seeking comfort in them.
"Help me dry my hair, (N/N)-chan?"Ran asked, in hopes that she would agree. When she did, he felt happy. She took the dryer in her hand and stood behind him.
It was something about the way she ran her delicate fingers in his hair, trying to untangle possible knots. She does it so gently that it reminds him of a lover. He was melting in her touch, it felt so domestic, it felt like home. But he knows that kindness is in her nature, he knows it is just a simple gesture of trying to limit the natural hurt.
But oh God, how much he losses his mind when he feels her nails barely touch his scalp. His mind wanders elsewhere, a place where no one but him is allowed to enter.
'Will your nails feel this good when you hold onto me when I am one with you?' He mumbles to himself. Only for this moment forth, does he ignore it, ignores the guilt in his stomach as he lets himself imagine her in his arms, where the person she looks at is him and not his brother. Kissing her till the both of them are panting for air and when they are done, he gently places her head on his shoulder. The whole world would stop.
Birthday and other wishes turned into an extra text message hoping to elongate their conversation. Innocent touches on her shoulder turned into stolen kisses when she is in the arms of his brother drowning deep in the depth of dreamland. An excuse turned into lies just to give her something that would remind her of him. Oh, Did he wonder if he ever crosses her mind? at least a percent of how much she invades his head.
He was conflicted. How should he let go of the girl that will never be his? He would rather die than hurt his younger brother. He feels disgusted with himself, the brief moment where his heart leaps in happiness when Rindou tells him that she had him had not gone all the way yet.
It has been 2 years and he still can't move on. His heartache only increases with every detailed intimacy he hears from Rindou. He indulges in habits, he himself is not proud of. He just wants to go back, back to where she didn't exist. Never had he known that falling in love would hurt so much. He wonders, who should he be angry at? Her? how could he when she had shown nothing but kindness to him? At Rindou? never. If he was in Rindou's place he would've done the same thing.
Ran Haitani reached his limit. After suffering for almost 2 years. He desperately looks into his brother's eyes, both instantly losing their appetite as Ran mumbled a few words that would cause a great rift between both the brothers.
"Rindou, I'm in love with your girlfriend."
