Robby Is A Good Kid - Tumblr Posts
The detail I like about Robby is when he is close to someone or cares about someone who helps him, he immediately defends them when someone else insults that person. I hate how people see Robby as this "angry, jealous, vicious teen" when he's human and he has a right to feel all of these emotions or anger and hurt because they wronged him first. But when Robby has someone that truly cares for him, and trusts them just as much as they trust him, Robby will have their back and defend them in any horrific situation because he has a heart of gold. Despite all of the trauma he went through, neglect and hurt, the person who's been with him and still values him will get Robby's respect and trust. This is what sets him apart from other characters, and how he is someone who is willing to learn, to grow, to adapt. If that person has never did Robby wrong EVER in their time knowing each other, he'd be the one to defend them.
Nobody has been more hurt in this series than Robby
SEASON 5 I SWEAR IF YOU DON'T GIVE ROBBY SOMEONE HE CAN FULLY TRUST-
After watching the first two seasons of Cobra Kai, I observed and watched the parallels between Johnny and Robby.
For instance, Johnny starting Karate had become a new experience for him. Despite being under the corrupted influence of Kreese, it took what I can predict a while for him to be Kreese's favorite student because he wanted to learn how to do Karate. Even though between Karate Kid and Cobra Kai Johnny is skillful and was considered a fighting prodigy, it took alot of his time to learn when he was younger and how much effort he had to put. (Not to mention Kreese's manipulations)
Now Robby, this kid is definitely built different. He may have not done Karate before, but he was able to observe and immediately catch on quicker than his father. It took him days and shorter time frame to learn and master different sets of moves. Daniel even refers him as a natural than he is. What made Robby amazing is him mastering the one kick that not even Daniel could do who has been a Karate champion for a long time.
It took Robby ONE DAY trial after trial to actually master the hardest kick. And that's coming from someone who is 16 years old, mastering it younger than Daniel and Johnny were. It shows he was a natural prodigy to learn these techniques from his creative and determined mindset. After seeing the beginning of that episode, I just said "This kid is a prodigy"
It made me intrigued about his character and how he progresses in the series. And now, he knows not one but two styles to fight and he was able to master both easily, which neither Daniel or Johnny could do, even now.
Robby didn't care which style works, so long as it benefits him and to reach his goal. He'll do whatever it takes to make sure he gets there💯💯💯💯
Understanding Robby 101
#TeamRobby🙌🙌
This was something that made me upset from what sam said on Television. The fact that she said this sentence adding that hint of doubt, Robby had to hear this come from her. The expression he makes is hurt and confusion because Robby didn't do it intentionally, it was an accident.
He didn't mean to kick Miguel over the railing, he was upset of what Miguel did and said that provoked him. But Robby is not a bad person nor did he want to kill Miguel. And Sam should know just how Robby is with the type of personality and heart of gold he has.
I was really sad and annoyed when I saw Robby feeling hurt and surprised from her saying those words on TV. Robby is an amazing kid.
S5, no more Robby being hurt please-
“it was an accident… at least i hope so”

#TheRobbyDefenseFirm😎😎😎
i will always be robby's attorney 🙏
Going back throughout the series of how much pain Robby went through, especially in season 3, just makes me full of melancholy with all that has happened to him and how people point fingers at him and his shadow😔😔
Can we at least have a Robby where he is at peace😭
Nobody has been through worse situations than Robby. After seeing all the hate on this character, you have to really look at all the things he tried to fix but ends up getting wronged in the first place.
Disliking the character is one thing, but to create a whole fandom that is toxic against him is extreme. I will say this, I am a Robby stan🙌 while I can validate opinions, I find it difficult when it comes to bashing Robby with so much hate and bitterness when this guy is literally a teenager.
But he is a teenager who is willing to correct his wrongdoings and be the one to make things right
I wouldn't go as far as to say that people who support Robby are being overly sensitive. From what I can see, it's just us being sick of seeing him get shit on for the actions of others. Either that or we will point out an ill nuanced take that someone has that just doesn't apply to Robby. As far as those disgusting comments about Robby's time in juvie goes, all I'm gonna say is that it's one thing to dislike a character (I guess there's no accounting for taste) but if you seriously don't see why making jokes like that are so messed up, I would suggest you go take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror. The thing that really disturbs me is that it wasn't just a few individuals who made those remarks and even those who didn't make remarks like that still believed that this kid actually deserved what happened to him
I'm really disappointed that neither Johnny nor Shannon cared that Robby was in Cobra Kai for months.
As if, they don't know what to do with him, don't care what he's doing with his life, and have given up on him.
Of course, I'm supremely disappointed that they did nothing for him after the school fight.
They were never going to fight for him.
If he were my kid, I would have fought tooth and nail for him to not go to juvie after the school fight and not get kicked out of school. I would have made sure a self-defense case was made for him. I would have filed charges against the kid who'd attacked him, and I would have filed a suit against the school for kicking my kid out and not his attacker.
I would have made sure every bit of evidence was used to prove that the kid who'd attacked mine was the aggressor and the threat. I would have made sure to emphasize that my kid ran out of fear because he's a kid and he'd screwed up immensely. I would have done anything and everything for my kid and made sure the kid who'd attacked him also faced legal repercussions and been kicked out of school.
Robby had been blindsided by Miguel twice in the school fight while Robby had been protecting his girlfriend. Miguel had purposely pulled on Robby's injured arm between rounds at a tournament a few months prior just to win a stupid trophy, and Miguel had drunkenly attacked Robby at a party. Miguel had a history of attacking Robby. There was no reason for Robby to believe his lame ass "I'm sorry" after the way Miguel had attacked and taunted him.
I would have used all this and that Miguel had been dating the girl who attacked Robby's girlfriend because Miguel had kissed her while she was drunk. Seriously, Miguel gave Robby no reason to trust him. Who the hell did Miguel think he was to attack Robby so crazily and then expect instant trust after a lame ass apology?
This season, Robby even told Johnny that Miguel had attacked Robby, that Robby had been stopping the fight, and that Miguel had escalated it. Johnny simply said that he wasn't there. WTF? He didn't care about the details at all!?!
Imagine your own parent not caring if you'd been attacked. Why would Robby trust Johnny or give him a chance?
This is how Johnny is. He hasn't changed.
When Johnny saw Robby's bruise in juvie, Johnny immediately accused Robby of starting fights in juvie too, which didn't make sense because Robby hadn't been the one to start the fight in school either.
Both times Robby had been attacked.
So not only does Johnny not care if Robby is hurt, Johnny's immediate reaction is to accuse Robby of being the cause and Johnny doesn't care about any details when Robby tries to explain them.
Shannon didn't seem to care either.
Neither did Daniel.
Only Kreese mentioned it, but Robby didn't put his trust in him because Robby doesn't know him.
When the people you care about don't care about your side of the story, who can you trust to be there for you?
He is a unique character that caught my since S1ep5. Intrigued when he decided to do something and then doing things out of his genuine heart and care
nah cause robby easily the best person on the show i’m sorry 😭 been proven enough times but sure keep labeling him as the bad __ (take your pick)
In all honesty, I have seen the amount of hate Robby gets and it is real sickening. Just very twisted with how toxic the fandom is. Robby is a teenager, a traumatized one who's life has been upside down since the day he was born. A deadbeat father who never welcomed him on his first day in the world, a mother who always went out with other random guys from night to night while intoxicated. He had to handle everything on his own, he couldn't enjoy a normal childhood like everyone else had, he sadly had to get by from time to time, adapt and grow up too fast that he never got to experience what it's like to be a normal teenager. Seeing how he drops out of school in order to scheme others just to get by to help him and his mom with rent and food. He was in a tough situation that made his life difficult and never did it out of malice.
Then meeting Daniel and him reaching out to be taught Kata and Karate, that moment made Robby need a father figure in his life because for the first time an adult puts a hand on his shoulder, he wants to make things better and leave the lifestyle he was leading at this time. Because when he saw his very own father hugging Miguel, he felt shattered and broken because his dad never did that to him, nor showed him the attention and love Robby wanted but instead sees Johnny give it to Miguel. (This is not me hating Johnny and Miguel because I do like them but they have flaws like everyone else)
Come to the present, Robby is beyond hurt and crushed since his father was never really there for him and Daniel hurt him emotionally by sending him to Juvie against his will which definitely hurt him. If they really want Robby to be with them, they have to fight for his trust as many times and hard as they can because Robby has been through the most trauma, neglect and hurt in this series that this teen was broken when he blames himself for mentoring Kenny and trying to keep him away from becoming dark and it makes me realize that Robby couldn't enjoy his life or childhood, which resorts to Robby blaming himself as if there's something wrong with him when he is a teenager who makes mistakes, but he is willing to go great lengths to correct them and make amends and adapt. He's practically an adult at this point, even though he is a teenager who got expelled from high school over an accident, and I will say it again for the toxic CK fans, an ACCIDENT to what happened with Miguel.
When it comes to Robby having someone trust him and support him for a long time, he is willing to put that trust and faith towards them. Although I think that Robby, between his time with Trey and Cruz before he leaves them behind to join Daniel and then again after leaving Juvie, breaking up with Sam and joining Cobra Kai, Robby wouldn't want this person he trusts and values to be apart of the whole war. He would go as far to make sure neither dojo would involve them to keep them safe.
Although I'm not sure if he is willing to stop contacting the person he trusts 100% for a while until the tournament just to protect them because Robby is a genuine person with a golden heart. Despite all the immense anger and rage that clouded him from his time in Juvie to being in Cobra Kai, he doesn't want that person he values to be in danger. If he were to leave them out of this war he would either stop contacting them and keep his distance until the end of the tournament, or would keep his dojo lifestyle and personal lifestyle separate just to have that one loyal friend and supporter still be with them and have their back. If they are willing to stay in Robby's life, then he has no reason to drop them or end his friendship with them because they chose to stay and trust Robby💪💪🙌🙌
JOHNNY YOU HAD ONE JOB. ONE JOB😭😭😭
(Can't Robby be happy for once!?)
never forget it was robby who brought back miyagi-do karate ❤️
To be honest, Robby being an intelligent character doesn't just stem from his creative mindset. Majority of his intellect does come from creativity with his karate skills and athletic nature, but I also think that Robby is also intelligent academically especially since he loves to read literature to learn and absorb new things.
He was probably an honor roll student in elementary and middle school before he started to hang out with Trey and Cruz. (which he had to do in order to help him and his mother out with food and money) and the fact he still retains immense knowledge amazes me along with him being talented. Robby's potential is 📈📈📈
I honestly don't see how or where Robby's careless. Regardless of what side he is on, his pure heart of gold never ceased to care. He always looks out to others because he is a genuine person. He never showed animosity first, it was always the others who provoked him first.
It makes it better when they are close to him because Robby will go above and beyond to protect those who are close to him

Robby doesn’t have a weakness. You’re thinking about this the wrong way. Everyone has a weakness.
This scene really broke me...words cannot express just how emotional and upsetting this scene was with Robby feeling upset due to Kenny turning out to be darker than what Robby taught him to be, trying to be a mentor in his since Robby didn't have a mentor or figure in his life from childhood to now. Despite Daniel coming into his life, it was short lived.
Robby is not a spiteful person. Because he has a golden heart that is often destroyed by the people around him due to their treatment of him. Despite the anger that is in his veins, he can't hold hate in him because of how genuine he is

The look on Robby's face and the way he talks about his hate, as if he's devastated that he has so much of it inside of him. Robby doesn't understand that his hate is a result of so much trauma and not an inherent part of him. Robby is a really good-hearted person.
@quirkyrogue I'm mesmerized by this entire article and the details for Robby's character and his relationships with the other characters. But it also shows 3 characters who want to go good for Robby who were Daniel, Shannon, and Tory. Each of his interactions (despite Daniel's mistake and guilt of putting Robby in Juvie) were pure genuine and kindness. Shannon's will to make a change for Robby contrasts Johnny's inability to make a change for Robby. While both parents know they've neglected Robby, Shannon was the one who made the change for Robby, while Johnny lamented and decided to drink away his problems as if they would disappear.
The description of how Robby's presence has a positive affect on others, regarding Sam, Tory, Kenny, and Daniel. He has a positive influence on other characters in contrast to Miguel who is only Sam's boyfriend to Daniel, while Tory didn't really care for Miguel nor did she find him attractive or the special connection she has for Robby.
Robby's genuine influence and his treatment to others make him have a strong bond with others that when he turns his back on Daniel and Johnny to Kreese after being hurt, traumatized, neglected and betrayed it forced the dojos to come together since Robby's skills are excellent and superior. How he had built these relationships with Daniel and his family, Kenny, and Tory is what makes him a central character of the show.
How Cobra Kai Fails Robby Keene

Yes, this is about both the show and the characters in it. And no, this is not meant to hate on the show or any character whatsoever. What I will point out is something the show is showing us through its framing, writing, and narrative choices. These are the 3 keywords I will be using a lot in this essay. Please make sure that you fully understand their meaning to understand what I say better.

With the disclaimers out of the way, let’s go, baby!

Robby Keene is easily the most intriguing character in Cobra Kai to me. Mostly because I couldn’t slot him in any archetype when I started watching.
He isn’t the protagonist – he is billed 5th and introduced all the way in the 4th episode. He is not the quintessential hero or good guy because he is introduced as running scams. That should mean that he is the antagonist? Well, stealing some money so you can have food and having remorse while doing it really disqualifies you for that. He is neither the a-hole with the heart of gold because my guy is so quiet in nature.
The closest I could come up with was him being someone like Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist of the Hunger Games series. She doesn’t have a distinct personality because all her energy goes into survival. Similarly, Robby doesn’t fit in any clear archetype because all his energy goes into survival as well. He regularly chucks his self-esteem down the drain and does what he needs to to survive – from running scams to allowing being bullied.
Robby’s story has been fascinating all through S1 to S4. I’m amused at how much prominence he holds in the narrative while simultaneously being treated unfairly than other characters. He is the 4th main character and is directly in competition with Miguel. And things are pretty bleak for the guy…

After reading How Cobra Kai Fails Robby Keene by Quirkyrogue, it makes me now look deeper in my Cobra Kai story, which revolves around Robby Keene's positive influence and trusting childhood friendship with my OC.

Suffering...
Throughout Robby's whole life, he goes through this endless cycle of suffering. From being abandoned by Johnny, to his mom always going out at night leaving to do god knows what, to having to survive and make an earning to live and support himself by any means possible. Juvie made it worse for him, increasing his survival instincts to the point he lives through it as a life and death situation. Even after being released, that is his mindset and he does what he can to survive. Even if it meant joining Cobra Kai under Kreese (and later Terry).
While it helped him turn his rage and resentment into something he can channel it towards, his sense of morality and genuine nature clashes with this when he saw how Kenny became indoctrinated by Cobra Kai's corrupt mentality. This leads to another part of suffering that not only costs him a victory (which I feel the narratives should have let him win!) But then leads him to see Johnny on his own to let out his hurt and suffering that he held for so long

Robby Keene is without a doubt the most mistreated character on the show and within the fandom and sometimes it makes me wanna bang my head against a wall
I'M SORRY WHAT!? What kind of toxicity these fans are spreading in the CK Fandom? All of this hate for Robby is irritating, but a video pertaining to why he shouldn't exist is too far💢💢💢
The fact that I have seen a YouTube video that basically goes of on a tangent if "if only Robby Keene had never existed" makes me feral. Seriously how can a fandom be this stubbornly deluded. To the point where they will make whole-ass videos blaming one character for every bad thing that had happened. That too the most abused character in both the show and the fandom
