Cryptid Aesthetics [5/?]: UFOs

An unidentified flying object or UFO is defined as any perceived object in the sky not identifiable by standard criteria. However, the term is widely used for claimed observations of extraterrestrial spacecraft.

Early reported sightings of unknown flying saucers usually described them as silver or metallic, sometimes reported as covered with navigation lights or surrounded with a glowing light, hovering or moving rapidly, either alone or in tight formations with other similar craft, and exhibiting high maneuverability.  While disc-shaped flying objects have been interpreted as being sporadically recorded since the  Middle Ages, the first recorded use of the term “flying saucer” for an unidentified flying object was to describe a probable meteor that fell over Texas and Oklahoma on June 17, 1930.  The highly publicized sighting by Kenneth Arnold on June 24, 1947, resulted in the popularity of the term by U.S. newspapers.

Famous UFO sightings include the 1947 Roswell incident in New Mexico.  The 1961 case of Betty and Barney Hill, as well as the 1957 case of Antônio Vilas-Boas, were among the first alien abduction stories to receive widespread attention.

The United States Air Force facility commonly known as Area 51 is a highly classified remote detachment of Edwards Air Force Base, within the Nevada Test and Training Range. The base’s current primary purpose is publicly unknown; however, the intense secrecy surrounding the base, together with reports of unusual phenomena, have led Area 51 to become a focus of modern UFO and other conspiracy theories. Some of the activities mentioned in such theories at Area 51 include the storage, examination, and reverse engineering of crashed alien spacecraft, the study of or meetings with extraterrestrials, and the manufacture of aircraft based on alien technology.

The Roswell’s were the next Strangerville sims to get make-overs. I changed them a lot because the originals were pretty awful, lol. But, they’re my favorites now! fgjhtrgrewfdsfwsdgh I love the way Ted came out <3

After making over the Roswell family, I made them a new house to live in.  My favorite is the basement where Mayor Ted secretly keeps a bizarre plant even after the infection is gone *gasp*

The Roswell’s had twin girls, Grace and Fawn! I just wanna smoosh their cute lil faces!

Happy (belated) Halloween! Drew the boys as cryptids to send off the spooky season 🐺🦋

Roswell and his siblings find themselves in what HQ calls “a situation”. Rolls off the tongue better than “Virrid Terrortoma escaping containment”.

Phone/Laptop:

Ros’ tech is strictly for business: freshly replaced screens and undecorated black/space gray exterior (matching on both devices, of course).

All the apps/files are unlabeled and stored away from potential onlookers. The vast majority are some kind of homemade MIB tech Scarberry cooked up: everything from hacking modules to airspace maps to clocks on galactic standard time.

There’s some classic surf rock, 50s hits, and jazz downloaded, but only like 6 songs in total.

Occasionally, he’ll change his wallpaper to a neat flower or insect he’s seen recently.

None of his contacts have photos.

Car:

That old black Cadillac is ALWAYS in top shape. The outside’s polished like a mirror and the faux-leather interior is always spotless: though the new car smell has long been replaced with his own strange metallic aroma.

The glove box is full of well-organized papers: some blank, many with forged arrest warrants and government documents. Plenty of dubious ID cards, too.

Secret hatches under and beside the seats: there’s always specimen jars, nets, handcuffs with too many wrist holes, spare parts, and at least one huge gun—that one’s especially well hidden.

The trunk is strangely durable.

Backpack (Suitcase, in his case)

There’s a surprising number of trinkets: apple seeds, dried flowers, vintage toys, maybe a skinny comic book.

There’s a space packed with gadgets that his phone and computer can’t take over: but there’s a large circular space that’s about the size and shape of his hat.

i think we as a society need to use cell phones/laptops/cars/backpacks to flesh out characters
