notes:
-Hunter’s eye used to be pretty messed-up. He got blinded in his right eye, but NSH managed to save Hunter’s vision in an emergency surgery. There to be a mark running through his eye where it was cut, but that’s faded over time. He also wasn’t able to fully open that eye for a while after the injury, and the scar used to look thicker.
(When Hunter got his scar, Arti helped him get back to NSH and (while she won’t admit this) was actually worried about him. Considering that Hunter was covered in blood, freaking out about being half blind, in a shit ton of pain and high on shock and adrenaline her being worried about him might not seem very impressive, but it was pretty out of character for her and was sort of the first time she was ever properly nice to him.)
-While the twins were never close, they did used to sometimes have fun on missions together. This is probably when their relationship was the best, and they acted almost like friends. They both loved challenges and would sometimes make up games to play while on missions.
-They are the slugcat equivalent of being around 15-16 here (child labor moment)

Two Hunter facts!:
-no matter how much he hates Artificer, he still calls her “Arti”, and he’s the only person who calls her that
-was designed to have a crazy high pain tolerance, which is handy because he has bad back pain from the rot
Hehe I love this so much! My Hunter would not think it’s very weird bc he already has a twin lol, what’s another similar-looking Slugcat. Also he would definitely make fun of your Hunter for being short you’re so right.

For anyone who doesn’t follow the ask blog, Hunter just got beat up by Arti! It’s probably gonna come up later because it’s an important plot moment, so just wanna make sure ya’ll know what is going on lmao.
Believe it or not, Arti did feel a little bit of guilt when she left Hunter. Anyways, uh, parallels between when she abandoned him and when she found him again. You can probably tell that both of their lives went way downhill after this by comparing what they look like in the older drawing to what they look like in this one lol.
Okay, I know I said I was gonna make art for Inv and Saint instead of Hunter and Arti again, but I really wanted to draw this one scene from my au lol
the art is under the cut, tw for body horror, there is an almost Hunter long legs in it (not quite fully rotted yet tho)
For those who don’t want to see that (fair enough) It’s basically Arti encountering Hunter having a not very good time while she’s on a hunting mission for the colony. This is the first time she’s seen him since she abandoned him btw.

Arti makes a very smart not flawed at all decision
NSH in the original siblings au vs the current version lol
In the original one, Sig used the rot as a way to make sure Hunter didn’t run away like Arti did. Sig couldn’t cure it, but he could keep Hunter alive and well enough to function, so Hunter didn’t really have any choice other than to keep going back to Sig. In the current one, basically Sig just does not give a single shit about Hunter.
The current Sig isn’t actually that bad of a person from an Iterator standpoint, but he, like almost all Iterators, sees Slugcats as being less important life forms.
To Sig, Hunter’s just his purposed organism. He can make another if he needs to, and it doesn’t have the same amount of sentience and intelligence as him. But to Hunter, Sig is his dad. So obviously it really messed him up when Sig just consistently let bad things happen to him. But again, from the perspective of an Iterator, the life of a slugcat is insignificant compared to theirs. But, since I’m writing a story from a slugcat perspective, a lot of Iterators are going to seem like huge jerks lol, even if they’re decent people.
The change was made to the story to make it more accurate to how I write Iterators!
Where is human Hunter, I want to see him
I don't really have a design for him yet lol, but I'm not NSH, I couldn't forget about one of my favourite silly little guys! I doodled this cause I think it'd be funny if he and Arti just hated each other in every single au I make lmao

Design rant time!!!!
Hunter is strong, but he doesn't have the same intimidating presence as Arti. He's built more for agility and strategic fighting, whereas she's built for brute-forcing her way through combat and beating the shit out of anything that blocks her path. Her features are a little bigger than Hunter's too- she has a stronger nose, thicker eyebrows, broader shoulders etc. I really wanted her to take up space, like she isn't sorry to be the way she is. You can kinda see the difference between the two of them in their poses here. Arti's arms are at her sides, which makes her look bigger, but Hunter's more closed in on himself and making himself smaller. She's looking at him, and he's looking away. Saint is just kind of there, stuck in the middle lmao. I love them.
Anyways, I'll probably make a proper Hunter design at some point, but this is what we have so far lol.
NSH: I miss my wife, Hunter. I miss her a lot
