RWBY Saints of Remnant Notes: Should the SDC and Jacques be bad guys? Or one of the few Good Guys amongst corruption in Atlas?

DISCLAIMER: This post contains is a radically reimagined Jacques Schnee and SDC in a positive light in a heavily reimagined RWBY AU and has cliche tropes such as "dead mom" which I intend to complement with as "dead dad" of another family, if Canon Jack and SDC has given you a permanent bad taste in your mouth along with Canon Adam Taurus, I understand, this is an AU, just please do not come in with bad faith and ignore me instead.
Said AU is connected to The Emperor-Verse
I'm writing down notes and my gut just wants to make Jacques redeemable, but given how much damaged he has done to others, both his family and an entire people, that seems to heavy of a task without him ending up dead. But that was when I rebooted it by the end of V3.
But making this a hard reboot from the beginning then it hit me, and you do not have to agree with this at all...
What if instead of the SDC and Mr. Schnee being part of Atlasian corruption...
They along with James and the Atlas Military/Academy are the only few good individuals and institutions in Atlas, and both are paying the price for it from their upper class peers?
What if instead of Jacques being this opportunistic conman, he is Nicholas' biological son, and a former huntsmen in his youth who was on the same team as James Ironwood who served as his leader and who Weiss and Winter fondly call “Uncle Jim”, basically to them what Qrow is to Yang and Ruby
Jacques stuck to his father's principles and has managed to uphold The Schnee Dust Company as one of the few ethical businesses in regards to the Faunus, as well as providing support to other ethical businesses in the northern kingdom, mostly forming genuine friendships with their owners, and refused to outsource labor and resources when everyone else in Atlas did.
But as a result, James and Jacques are being ganged up on left and right by the upper class.
The only reason the Atlas establishment has tolerated Jack and his company for so long because the Kingdom was heavily dependent on them along with other companies for Dust and other goods and products, until recently with a growing unethical conglomerate run by Dr. Gray(Watts) with his mega-corporation GigaWatts Incorporated(Think OCP from Robocop and Lexcorp from DC), and plans on getting rid of the SDC and becoming the kingdoms new source of manufactured goods, tech, and labor, including dust mining and GWI is known for unethical use for Faunus labor in both the mines and factories.
Though I might just toss the Faunus Racism thing given how much of a mess it is and rework the WF for something else and have Atlas Upper Class replacing well-paying jobs with robots to keep the lower classes underpaid, or I could try something with both, need input on that.
Buy anyway, The SDC used to be big, but not in a megacorporation way. The SDC was one of the top four successful companies in Remnant back in the day(because 4 is the magic number in RWBY), and as I said before, Jack had made partnerships with other businesses both in his homeland and a few in other kingdoms during trips with his family, but its very few and Jack had made genuine friendships with the owners. He never stripped the human element out of his business.
You could say GWI is a large-scale "Evil Queen" figure
While the SDC is a large-scale "Snow White" figure, in more ways than one, but that's once again another story for another day.
Now GWI is overshadowing them at an accelerated rate with hundreds of Atlasian corporate companies joining it in exchange for Watt’s technology as well as Atlas Military’s higher ups hiring Watts to develop their military technology and last but not least outsourcing Dust Mining to the likes of Vaccou and Jacques and James are the only few who suspect Watts’ whole campaign being a “snake oil” tactic for something insidious as Arthur has all of the upper class eating out of the palm of his hand.
Meanwhile the likes of the White Fang and other kingdoms see Jack, SDC, James and The Atlas Military as just a bunch of rich pricks due to being part of the upper class(millionaires though, not billionaires, and even that’s dwindling now), seeing Jack and Jim as "one of them"
and understandably so mind you, given the rest of Atlas’ actions, but also because the current leader Rina Kumokage is lumping them in deliberately to distract the other members and branches(North, West, and South to be exact) of her own selfish and twisted intentions for the White Fang among other things
Though the White Fang itself seems to be in the hands of corrupt individuals in their neck of the woods. With the likes of Blake and Adam seeking to root it out, Adam being a little too aggressive in his means while Blake seeks outside help, which has strained their brother-sister relationship.
Spoiler alert, the corruption of The White Fang is not from Adam but a new character, Adam isn't the bad guy or a psychopath.
In this AU Adam is more like a cross between Fall of Cybertron Grimlock and Zuko, but he's another post for another day.
But anyway, the persecution of the SDC by the rest of the Atlasian upper class has gotten so bad, radical anti-Faunus militia Kriegsratten Korps aka “The Rats”(they allude to the Rats in The Nutcracker and mixed with Wolfenstein Nazis) and most likely be members of the Atlas Military throughout the ranks supplied with tech from GWI even secretly supported the corrupt council and big business, start attacking the SDC mines killing Schnee family members for being “faunus lickers”, one of them being Jack’s wife Anastasia(both alluding to the Russian Princess, and Snegurochka a Russian fairy tale character) while James struggles to provide the mines and family security while being undermined by higher-ups.
Yes I know dead mom is cliche but I plan on complementing(is that the right word?) it with Blake losing her own father Ghira and leaving her mother, Noire(aka Kali), widowed. And I have a reason for that later on down the road.
Also Jacques isn't a monster, he just isn't a perfect parent and seems cold on the surface, but its mostly due the burden he bares of being a single parent, and upholding a noble family legacy, giving Faunus descent and honest work, and holding out with other businesses he’s made partnerships with. Their something of a resistance group against GWI.
All with countless of peers trying to sabotage him and James to the point its claimed his family and lover, all of which is straining his relationship with his daughters and his former teammates, James in particular. Plus losing his father at an early age and the board of directors forcing him to become CEO caused him to develop anxiety issues with only his mother and girlfriend and later on wife and children keeping him sane.
James and Jacques together allude to “Atlas” with a great burden weighing down on their shoulders they struggle to hold it up
He's a bit too harsh on Weiss with her huntress training(ie the White Trailer) but in order to defend herself against assassins, and sends her off to Vale in hopes she would be safer there(relatively speaking.)
But the way he does it comes off to Weiss as her father not caring about her other than making her a trophy for his own reputation and being out of his way otherwise, and HOO-BOY don't get me started with how pissed Winter is with him.
Like I said, if all of this you can't vibe with because its supposed to be Jacques and Canon Jacques along with Canon Adam has put a permanent bad taste in your mouth, thats fine, I feel the same about other characters in other stories. No judgement.
I plan on making a post to dive deeper into Jack, but I will say he's primarily Jack Frost, but his secondary allusion to "The Nutcracker"
I'm also recycling this concept for my own original works, not sure what exactly, but something.
If you're planning to make the Schnees much less wealthy (as in no longer billionaires) then making Jacques a good guy could be interesting, but if he's a billionaire he by definition cannot be a good guy
The Schnees in this AU along the 3 other top companies in Atlas even back in their heyday wouldn’t be what I would call “Billionaires”, I’m not sue what level of wealthy I would call them. Definitely enough that they made their fame during the Northern equivalent of America’s Gilded Age and last for a good long 75 years
The Billionaire spot would go to Watts with GigaWatts Incorporated
The SDC drew limits, Jack knew when it was enough, and he kept afloat much of the time until Watts came in and exploited the anti-Faunus Sentiment of the North along with his “miraculous” development in technology, along with the attacks from The Rats now the SDC is starting to run on fumes, Jack’s begun selling his stuff too. It’s not fun.
Speaking as a Catholic, doing the right thing will put you at odds with the world
If there’s any suggestions, I’d gladly listen
Hey since you are doing a rewrite of rwby I have one question:
How would you rewrite Cardin Winchester? To me personally I would get rid of the bully arc and make him a tough but fair leader.
That's honestly what I'm considering too, I kinda wanted to just make him just an ass who gets better over time, I actually have big plans for him too.
I guess I can compare the "cast hierarchy" to this
You know Justice League and Justice League Unlimited?
Basically teams RWBY, JNPR, SSSN, and Oscar become like the big 7(Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Hawkgirl, Flash, Martin Manhunhter, Green Lantern) who ascend to their greater calling
and smaller dudes like CRDNL, Torchwick and his gang, Adam and The White Fang, CFVY are the smaller dudes akin to Vigilante, Shining Knight, Star Girl, Question, Huntress, Green Arrow, Black Canary, I think you get the idea
RWBY Saints of Remnant Notes: Redesign
My dumb ass is trying to think of a design for Ruby and Blake, for the latter I want to do some kinda french/ninja/pirate vibe for her
as for Blake, maybe a ninja/pirate combo because when she becomes queen of the South(Vaccou part of it) I was thinking at the end she looks like a tropical queen, maybe a pirate ninja queen or something
definately giving her one of those anime ninja scarfs maybe her late father Kuroto(Ghira) who was from Mistrial was more ninja themed while her mom Noire(Kali) who's from Vaccou, is more Pirate themed when they were young, thus Blake is a Ninja-Pirate combo
Thus reconciling the ancient conflict of Ninjas and Pirates...
I mean in my AU is set in the Narnia multiverse and humans and Faunus were descended from humans originally brought from Earth up to the Civil War era by The Storyteller
So maybe Blake's Earth Ancestry can be Ninjas and Samurai on her father's side while being of French Pirates on her mother's
Ruby and Blake are hard...
Thinking about my Good Jacques/SDC for my AU and given ideas from @oddlyhale’s take and just make him a good dad who’s an eccentric dry-witted fop and trickster(cus Jack Frost) who is just struggling with other companies against Watts’ mega corporation in Atlas
Even losing his wife to Anti-Faunus milita he doesn’t loose sight of what’s right and always tells his kids fairytales, notably heroic knights and fair maidens, to keep them on the right track
And he occasionally goes to Galas just to piss off Watts and the other upper class as a reminder of the traditions and morals of old which the rest of the upper class North is selling out.
I mean my older idea in the link maintains the Schnee family conflict, but I’m leaning more and more to the mindset
“Who gives a flying f*ck?”
Either way, Jacques, James, and their team were basically The Dover Boys of Atlas Academy
RWBY!SOR and the Emperor-Verse as a whole is meant to be cathartically joyful so I’m not sure
FNDM: *argues who’s beauty and the beast with Blake and Adam*
My dumb ass: *makes Blake and Adam, who’s good in this AU, both the beast and Sun and Yang the beauty*
Might make Hazel a good guy in my AU who got tricked by Salem and her cult via her public image and might end up shipping him with Elm because stronk giant couple of a soccer mom and a gym dad
Like Elm starts flirting and Hazel first is just grumpy about it
Elm: Hey there, teddy bear~
Hazel: Stop.
Cuz Hazel reminds me of a bear
RWBY Saints of Remnant Notes: Adam Taurus, Surrogate Brother, Liberator, and former slave worker

WARNING: This post contains is a radically reimagined Adam Taurus in a positive light in a heavily reimagined RWBY AU and has cliche and a ship that may turn you off due to Canon, if Canon Adam has given you a permanent bad taste in your mouth, I understand, this is an AU, just please do not come in with bad faith and ignore me instead.
Said AU is connected to The Emperor-Verse
Now following my altered Jack Schnee is Adam Taurus
Now given the whole grievances the RWDE tag as made about him, and looking back on him myself, I'd had figured there were two options for him, at least in my opinion
Either make him anti-villain or initial antagonist turned ally, which I have chosen for the latter. Either way, I threw out him being Blake's ex because I honestly thought it was kinda dumb and melodramatic.
Though FRWBY as I heard has done a good job tweaking that to make it work as well as Adam as a villain.
But I chose to go for something else, Adam being something of a surrogate older brother for Blake instead.
For this specific backstory, Adam is from Mistral, from a small village led by his father, a respectable Huntsman.
Now I'm trying to figure it out but with my Altered SDC and Jacques post, Arthur Gray(Watts) megacorporation GigaWatts Incorporated has outsorced work, and much like the SDC in Canon!RWBY Adam's family worked at one of their factories in the East under poor working conditions which claimed the life of his parents.
Adam much like his Canon counterpart, also worked pretty much as a slave, and his eye injury I chasing between either branding or a factory accident.
Now this draws on Fritz Lang's Metropolis which I feel like doesn't get enough love, and I will use this clip along with Metropolis when I get to post about the not-so-good doctor, his mega-corporation, and the current state of Atlas later.
But basically, Adam was emotionally drained at that point. A zombie of a young man who felt hopeless.
One day in his younger days The White Fang's Eastern Branch attacks the factories. And the one leading the charge was the current White Fang leader, a spider Faunus by the name of Rina Kumokage(first name a placeholder) and her second-in-command Sienna Kahn. Seeing them in action reinvigorated and inspired him and joined them instantly when the two offered a hand.
However, this wouldn't be the liberation that he thought it was, at least not entirely.
Rina's leadership was questionable over in the East while the other branches of the other three corners were busy, Rina seemed to be driven more by politics than the morals of common decency, and had abusive tendencies towards Adam and later on Blake whom she also took under her personal tutelage due to knowing her late father Kuroto(aka Ghira) who was a high ranking member of the White Fang.
But it wasn't all bad, for while Kumokage was a cruel teacher, Kahn on the other hand was the closest thing he had for a mother after losing his parents, and she herself was often downplayed by the current WF leader.
Soon Adam began to realize Rina saw the White Fang as a means for political power, a demagogue exploiting a legitimate cause for mercenary motives. But he wished for no outside help, for reasons I am trying to figure out, but partially the same reasons for Blake of being introverted, not to hurt those close to him.
Now for his allusion, there's always been the argument he was the beast and Blake was the Beauty
But after remembering an analysis post I can't remember where on Tumblr I figured
What if Blake and Adam were both the Beast? like a collective allusion? Which is based on my RWBY collective allusions theory but that's another post for another day.
Adam's individual allusion however is not the Bull Demon King, but Red Boy, with his late parents being The Bull Demon King(his Father) and Princess Iron Fan(his mother), both of their lessons sticking to him. So unlike his canon counterpart while his sanity may had been bent, it wasn't broken.
Now Sun in this AU is the 'Beauty' to Blake's 'Beast' and as for Adam, the ‘Beauty’ to his ‘Beast’ is and hear me out here...
Yang Xiao Long

now I know what you all are thinking...

But here's the idea
Adam as a good guy I would imagine being this grumpy kinda no-nonsense dude and something of a ham(he writes poems in his downtime) and I feel like that would compliment Yang's 'flirty party girl' personality and would play off Black Sun too
Two ships that are similar, yet different, and I just don't mean in a gender bent way.
But not only that, Yang’s role is also to mend the strained brother-sister relationship of Blake and Adam. Adam isn’t obsessed with Blake but was kinda like “Blake, what the hell?” When she left. He’s kinda pissed, but not a flat-out murderous lunatic.
And Yang being an older sibling herself can relate to Adam and talk it out with him, notably all the good things Blake has told Yang about him.
And then of course Yang does try to resort to some spicy flirting, but Adam being taught about earning the blessings of the parents and abstinence, doesn’t reciprocate the same way.
Spoiler alert, Adam is flustered by Yang’s midriff but also know it’s not good for practical purposes in her line of work. Yang notices and tries to tease him further, only for him to tickle her mercilessly to make his point, leading her to make a wardrobe upgrade for “V2”
And I’d be lying if my this was not somewhat influenced by my Catholic faith about modesty and no sex outside of marriage, but I’d think it be kinda cute and funny to ship Yang who’s flirtatious and likes to flaunt it with a very honorable and kinda traditional dude. Expect lots of disappointed pouts from Yang.
Now his altered personality I was inspired by 2 sources
Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender

But also Grimlock in Transformers: Fall of Cyberton which the game is also an influence for my reimagined Arthur Watts

For those not in the know-how, Fall of Cybertron due to it success had become the reboot basis for all G1-esque Transformers stories onward.
In it, Grimlock is the commander of the team and had been captured by Shockwave, who is a scientist, to be painfully experimented on which would turn them into Dinobots. Grimlock, driven by furious vengeance free's his comrades and seeks to destroy Shockwave.
Now Grimlock is still a good guy and believes defending the weak and migh-for-right, but he's bad tempered, stubborn, and headstrong really doesn't see eye-to-eye with Optimus Prime, seeing him as a weak leader and barely accepting him as leader due to the Matrix.
So it's kind of the same principle with Adam, with Watts being the 'Shockwave' to his 'Grimlock', though to be specific, Adam has a vendetta against the one running the factory he and his family worked at. Will get to him in the future.
So yeah, that's my Adam so far.

It is with great pleasure I get to show you all the V1 designs of Team RWBY in RWBY: Saints of Remnant
Which is part of the Emperor-Verse
The art was done by friend of mine by the name of Marcy_Bun check him out in the link! His art is dope!
I think my favorites among these four is Yang and Blake
Yang being a boxing martial arts cowgirl and Blake being a mix of a ninja and a pirate, the former on her late father’s side and the latter on her mother’s side
All works deliciously well given the origins of Remnant on this AU!
I might take cue from @sytokun and @neopoliitan and might take a visual direction with this and f I can find someone who will help in terms of character design!
Given my RWBY AU has Raging Bull, Holy Bun, Cinder x Roman, Arkos and Black Sun I’m noticing a pattern
I’m shipping intelligent and what many consider attractive people with dummies, who are also attractive.
Like Cinder and Roman end up together and Roman trying to be Cinder’s ‘Handsome Prince’ keeps biting off more than he can chew and often does with a smile on his face. And Cinder just finds it ridiculously attractive.
Idk just remembering Roger and Jessica Rabbit and how sweet their dynamic was
The Emperor-Verse: The Celestial King

(art once again done by the wonderful @magiesheartlove)
The Celestial King also known as Urendi Maleldil is the creator and adopter of all worlds, king of The Celestial Empire which is the cosmos and the son of The-Emperor-Of-All-That-Is also known as Eru Ilúvatar or The Old One whom he dwells with in The Celestial Realm along with The Breath of Life also known as The Secret Fire or The Third One
Reigning as King of the Eldila, he has reigned even before the creation of The Great Cosmic Sphere, abd its through him all worlds are created or if created by man, he adopts, and using The Breath of Life to breath life into them.
His most notable creations are creatures of The Hnau, rational creatures made in the likeness of The Creator whom are also either created by The Celestial King or adopted by him, both given The Breath of Life.
After The War in The Heavens and The Bent One was casted out with the other Dark Oyéresu and Dark Edila. The usurper and his hordes corrupted mankind of the Firstborn Sphere and sought to spread their influence through other spheres that were created later on.
However, The King, The Emperor, and The Third One would not leave the cosmos to suffer.
What Celestial King did was something that could not be foreseen seen by and Edilia of any rank nor Hnau and was described in ancient Earth's history among its Hnau as The Old Hope, which changed everything.
To save The Great Cosmic Sphere, to save each world and each life, The Celestial King descended into the Firstborn Sphere and became a Son of Adam
In which he underwent a great task that rippled throughout all worlds, which gave all of creation the potential to be redeemed both spirit and matter, and left behind an ever-expanding legacy when he returned to The Celestial Realm.
He appears in many personas and forms according to the nature of each world
For example in a long gone world, he appeared as a great talking lion
And in another world, he appeared as a storyteller in many robes
But the description of him stays the same.

Bio and redesign I had commissioned to my friend Soundwave3591 on DeviantART of Dr. Arthur Gray(Watts) for my Saints of Remnant AU

Another design for my reimagined RWBY AU, Saints of Remnant done by the wonderful @magiesheartlove!
The Honorable and self-proclaimed infamous thief Roman Torchwick, leader of The Lampwick Gang!
I won’t give away too much, but he’s not really that bad of a guy. And he exaggerates his heists, which Officer Robyn Hill keeps calling him out on it.
Me: *Thinking about my RWBY AU and all it’s ships, action scenes, and epic dramatic moments*
Also Me: *Flabbergasted myself with the fact I’m tying it to Earth’s history, setting it in the Narnia universe and putting literally Jesus in it but he’s all mysterious*

Bio of my AU Roman Torchwick done by my friend Soundwave3591, design done by @magiesheartlove
Roman in this one is basically like Sly Cooper but more incompetent and BS’s like Captain K’Nuckles from The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack

Another bio and redesign commissioned to my friend Soundwave3591 on DeviantART of Tyrian Callows in RWBY: Saints of Remnant!
sense you reblogged that one ask game, how is Ilia in your rewrite
Illia is basically to Blake and Adam what Whitley is to Winter and Weiss. The Third Sibling so to speak.
She has no romantic feelings for Blake, mostly because I don't cover her sexuality in this au and I feel like being another “love interest” for Blake keeps Illia from being her own character.
However she feels like Kahn is the only one who listens to her and just feels like Adam and Blake ignore her causing a bit of resentment. She feels like she's blended in with the crowd.
Hopefully a better use of her Chameleon imagery than a shallow "Closeted Gay" allegory.

art and bio done for me by Soundwave3591 of my RWBY AU Salem!
She’s not quite like her canon counterpart, I just figured she’d be better of as a charismatic Luciferian Cult Leader/Dark Lady than whatever confusing quasi-sympathetic character Canon tried to make her to be.
