My analysis of Samuel King
In the first season of Criminal Case, we learned that Samuel King had to sacrifice his innocence and freedom, to protect Cathy. I think he wasn't the same when his wife was killed.
The way Samuel wrote that letter in the additional case of 'Ashes to Ashes' touched me a lot. He really loved his wife. A man like him must have been forced to join the Crimson Order. In a photo with his wife, he looked so happy. One of the few reminders that King had of his wife was Cathy. Him and Donna raised her together.
When Donna died, that must have caused him to become more uptight and strict. Samuel couldn't let anyone he cared about suffer because of the group he was in. I think his actions were the effect of the Crimson Order's manipulation. There was no way Samuel King could have done such horrendous crimes without the blackmail and manipulation he went through. (that does not excuse him though)
Headcannon:
It is mentioned that Samuel King plays the violin. He plays his wife's favorite song on his violin when she was still alive. King later on teaches Cathy how to play the instrument.
