you used to love the incessant ringing of the facetime dial tone. it always signalled the one point in your day in which you got to pretend life was somewhat normal, that sangyeon wasn’t the other side of the country with no time allowance to see you. it was always a reminder that although he felt so far away, he was always present where you were, and still very much in love.

that novelty faded after a while.
