"I do not blame you. It can be a little stuffy in the ballroom." This was Daphne's first winter as a Duchess. She hoped that her guests were enjoying the winter festivities, Thinya. Most of all, everyone knew of the Somervilles' connections to the crown, and Daphne had been Diamond of her season.
"I do hope you are enjoying yourself, the heat aside."
"Thank you, I think married life agrees with me," Daphne smiled, when she and Simon had started out who would have thought they'd end up here?
"I am well, I enjoy country life, how are you?"

"I do hope you are enjoying yourself, the heat aside."
"I will not tell you there is nothing to fear, marriage is an unknown, but I will say that I genuinely wish you the best of luck." Daphne said clasping Thinya's hands in hers.
Before marrying Simon she would have been confused why her friend (or anyone really) feared marriage. But now she understood a little better.
"Thank you, I think married life agrees with me," Daphne smiled, when she and Simon had started out who would have thought they'd end up here?
"I am well, I enjoy country life, how are you?"
"Thank you, I took some inspiration from the places we traveled on our honeymoon." Kate smiled, traveling through India was inspiring to say the least.
"Are you enjoying yourself this evening?"

The words of the Viscountess touched Thinya's heart deeply. The brunette was very honoured to interact with Kate, admiring her for the woman that she was. "I do thank you so dearly, Viscountess Bridgerton. I can't repeat myself enough but congratulations on this beautiful wedding you've had with Anthony Bridgerton. You both make the perfect match." Her green hues showed kindness and sincerity. Thinya had hope that deep inside she would one day have the same fate. A marriage of love, not an arranged one. "May I say that you look stunning, this outfit really is beautiful."
Daphne knew not all families were like hers, but surely an arranged marriage was not Thinya's only option!
"As long as the gentleman is suitable, surly your father would respect your choice and allow you to marry for love." Daphne said, with plenty of eligible bachelors in the ton there must be one among them for Thinya.
"I will not tell you there is nothing to fear, marriage is an unknown, but I will say that I genuinely wish you the best of luck." Daphne said clasping Thinya's hands in hers.

"Thank you, it was an amazing trip and I very much enjoyed myself, though I am excited to get to know my new brothers and sisters better." Edwina had encouraged it in her letters, said that the Bridgertons were now just as much her family as Mary and Edwina had always been. Even if the idea of becoming the viscountess was a little daunting.
"There is nothing wrong with that, but I do hope you will dance if that is what you want to do."

When Simon and I started courting, we had no intention of getting married, he wanted to be left alone and I needed to be desirable. But things happened and the rest is history." Daphne hoped her words would be helpful.
"My mother always says you must find someone who feels like your dearest friend and marry them. She's right."

"The waltz is yours, I'll start the dance and then make some excuse and pass Benedict off to you."
"Benedict?" Daphne hadn't seen that coming, but upon reflection it made sense.

Edmund should not have been surprised when his second eldest son announced he was engaged to Miss Somerville, Benedict had known Thinya since they had been children, and just like Colin and Penelope friendship was a good place to start a marriage.
Stepping out of the ballroom onto the veranda, Viscount Bridgerton smiled to see his son's fiancΓ©eΒ had slipped away for a moment.
"Would you mind some company from your future father-in-law?"
"Fair enough, it is a bit stuffy in the ballroom," Edmund said coming to stand beside Thinya. The quietness of the veranda compared to the ballroom was sort of nice. He could understand why his future daughter-in-law sought this kind of peace.
"I hope you're enjoying the party, needing fresh air aside. We're all just thrilled you're joining our family."

"Thinya, will you do me the favor of taking my place for this dance with my brother?" Daphne said smiling sweetly at her friend. Seeing Thinya and Benedict next to each other now, Daphne must admit, they did make quite the handsome couple.
"Give it to me," Daphne's mind was already plotting as she held out her hand for the dance card, replacing her own dance card with Thinya's, Daphne smiled as she went back inside to find her brother.
After getting her very confused brother to sign "her" dance card, Daphne returned and handed Thinya the card.

"It would be an honor to be your sister."

"You may decide what you call me, but no titles, and my wife agrees with me on this. You're to be a member of this family, it doesn't matter that you were born to another, you'll be treated just as any of our children are treated."

"Oh, of course, but that doesn't mean we can't nudge him in that direction." Daphne said, with a wink.
Her brother was not unlike any other man. He could be nudged in any direction if one was smart about it.
"You and I will speak tomorrow. If you want to sneak off to the library, I won't tell."
"You're welcome." Daphne said as soon as her brother was out of earshot.
"I think you and Benedict would make a lovely match, but I can't do this for you. I will do what I can but I will need you to do your best to catch his eye when you're together." Daphne smiled and reached out to squeeze Thinya's hand.

"I can't take all the credit for my children, but I do look forward to you becoming my daughter." He glanced out into the dark garden and thought for a moment.
"I've known you since you were a child, and if I may be so bold, part of me hoped that it would be you that Benedict chose."
"Well, if we are to be family, then you should know, I don't care for being called 'Lord Bridgerton' by family members." Edmund said, smiling so she knew he wasn't angry.

After half an hour, and a dance with her husband, Kate excused herself and slipped away to the library, smiling when she shut the door behind her and turned to find Thinya still enjoying the solitude and the wine.
"I hoped you saved me some."
"I will do." Kate had had a few friends in India, but she'd spent most of her time with Edwina growing up, but Edwina was gone, a new friend was something Kate would cherish.
"Please, call me Kate."
"It's the ton, there are always gossips." Kate said sitting beside Thinya and holding out a wine glass for her to fill.
"I did hear that the queen is refusing to choose a diamond, though as someone who experienced living with a diamond I'm not too heartbroken about that."
After half an hour, and a dance with her husband, Kate excused herself and slipped away to the library, smiling when she shut the door behind her and turned to find Thinya still enjoying the solitude and the wine.
