Day 07 Martell Week: Favorite ship involving a Martell
I was waiting for this day because there is VERY LITTLE Daemon x Arianne content, and these lovebirds desperate for love deserve much more. Their scenes and chemistry are so <3<3<3. Love you very much. I imagine a scene after all the books, I'm not going to say what I hope happens with them since it's for another time
The 5 older sisters of the sand snakes appearing, this is the last one although there is an extra one, but I have exams
Sam fumbled for a penny. “Are you a novice?”
“An acolyte. Alleras, by some called Sphinx.”
The name gave Sam a jolt. “The sphinx is the riddle, not the riddler,” he blurted. “Do you know what that means?”
“No. Is it a riddle?”
“I wish I knew. I’m Samwell Tarly. Sam.”

Sarella Sand
Oberyn Martell's fourth daughter. Her mother is the Captain of the trading ship: the Feathered Kiss. Sarella is insatiably curious and loves Oldtown.
Which coincidentally is where she is for the majority of the books so far. Chasing down knowledge and studying furiously. It is also for this reason her clothing is much more subtle, even medieval as Oldtown exists in it's scholarly detachment what is "new" in fashion affects it less, instead people dress for functionality and temperature.

Sand Snakes Week: Day 2 - Symbolism
A sphinx is a bit of this, a bit of that: a human face, the body of a lion, the wings of a hawk. Alleras was the same: his father was a Dornishman, his mother a black-skinned Summer Islander. His own skin was dark as teak. And like the green marble sphinxes that flanked the Citadel’s main gate, Alleras had eyes of onyx.

hi!! this is rusty bc i’ve been on break/ drawing some personal work but here are a few of the sand snakes! ^-^
Arya wanting to explore nature and her love for the elements is reflected in a few other female characters. It’s a character trait that demonstrates her desire for knowledge, her inquisitiveness, her love of all things wild and real and good.
There is Arya and Sarella Sand (Or Alleras) and their need to understand the world around them:
Then to Sansa she said, “When we were crossing the Neck, I counted thirty-six flowers I never saw before, and Mycah showed me a lizard-lion.”
Sansa shuddered. They had been twelve days crossing the Neck, rumbling down a crooked causeway through an endless black bog, and she had hated every moment of it. The air had been damp and clammy, the causeway so narrow they could not even make proper camp at night, they had to stop right on the kingsroad. Dense thickets of half-drowned trees pressed close around them, branches dripping with curtains of pale fungus. Huge flowers bloomed in the mud and floated on pools of stagnant water, but if you were stupid enough to leave the causeway to pluck them, there were quicksands waiting to suck you down, and snakes watching from the trees, and lizard-lions floating half-submerged in the water, like black logs with eyes and teeth.
None of which stopped Arya, of course. One day she came back grinning her horsey grin, her hair all tangled and her clothes covered in mud, clutching a raggedy bunch of purple and green flowers for Father. - Sansa, AGoT

There is Arya and Ygitte’s love of the water and being fantastic swimmers:

Arya and Lyanna being one with the horses:

Not even Lord Rickard’s daughter could outrace him, and that one was half a horse herself.

Arya, Daenerys and their love of the earth and soil and scents:
She made for the godswood. She liked the sharp smell of the pines and sentinels, the feel of grass and dirt between her toes, and the sound the wind made in the leaves. Arya, ACoK
The green swallowed her up. The air was rich with the scents of earth and grass, mixed with the smell of horseflesh and Dany’s sweat and the oil in her hair. Dothraki smells. They seemed to belong here. Dany breathed it all in, laughing. She had a sudden urge to feel the ground beneath her, to curl her toes in that thick black soil. - Daenerys, AGoT
It’s a motif and a character trait that highlights similarities between these young, ambitious, brave girls who have a keen liking for the world around them.
All of Prince Oberyn’s daughters have his viper eyes. The color does not matter.

Sand Snakes
Today I want to talk about the Sand Snakes.
As I was watching ‘Game of Thrones’ having read the books, I was so excited for these girls to show up. To see them on screen and see how and different from one another they are. But then…
The show happened.
And you could not understand who was who. They were all dressed in the same way, all of them almost the twin of the other, and all with zero character. And their only power is the one that made us all forget about them. (As well as the entire Dorne Plot.)
The Sand Snakes of Dorne are 8. They are all illegitimate daughters of Oberon Martell, who in the years had many lovers and due to that the first 4 girls were born from different mothers; while the last 4 are all daughters of Ellaria Sand.
The Sand Snakes live in Dorne and they make their entrance in the story after the death of their Father and they want vengeance, of course against the Lannisters.
In the show we saw them acting as Ellaria’s minions, but it is not like that.
Ellaria is devastated after the death of her lover and she doesn’t think that vengeance would benefit anyone. But the Sand Snakes do not see it that way.
Of course Lorenza and Dorea are very young, but they look up to their sisters. Elia is growing up and becoming dangerous and restless. Obara is the eldest of the girls and she is very upset for what happened she dislikes Marcella Lannister that is now in their realm. While for Nymeria and Tyene, Prince Doran has other plans. Nymeria is going to sit in the King’s Council in King’s Landing as a compensation for Oberyn’s death, while Tyene is going to infiltrate to spy on the High Sparrow.
They are going to be pro active in the War in King’s Landing and I can’t wait for it!

I know. We all love Sarella. And Oberyn is toxic. But potentially crossing your aunt (THE QUEEN OF WESTEROS) to put the King's mistress in power when she's said more than once she isn't interested is wild shit. lmao.
When ppl kept commenting Lyanna was being too harsh and hoped she'd come around, they missed the part when Sarella's mother accurately read Daemon:
But Sarella isn't the besotted one here. He is. Isn't that what every mother wishes for her daughter? Perhaps. More than anything, she wants Sarella to live up to the best of what she's capable of. The company of good lovers adds joy to the journey. But this man? The intense stare behind his dimpled smirk. The way he touches Sarella as if compelled by forces from beyond. He won't just tolerate Sarella's worst impulses. He'll delight in them.
And Robb, while being extremely wrong about everything, finds a sliver of right:
"Found yourself a new toy. Captain Daemon Sand. And I've read the file, Sarella. He's a perfect little lap dog, isn't he?"
So I mean... I've been trying to warn folks that this was headed for an epic blowup. And that our main character was WAY too high on her own supply.
I wonder who she'll be when we visit her in Dorne...
