Day 31: Slice I remembered that Venomous in canon has claws, sometimes even outside of his snake form. Considering his love for classic villainy, I wonder if he's ever used them? Wow, my first Inktober! I didn't think I'd be able to do it, but I did. I only wish I could have done it on paper, I feel like many of the drawings could have been better. I'm suffering bad from sketchbook withdrawals. X'D Happy Spoop Day, everyone!
So uh, I made up a Rise version of Mona Lisa? Even though I don't know jack squat about her???
Because I seem to like making new versions of existing characters for Rise before they're introduced, here's Jade, aka Mondo Gecko.
Tartu
An affluent procuress, under whom Luben is employed (not that she does any actual work; she kinda just gaslights people into thinking she does, Tartu included). In a land where sex work is not only legal, but smiled upon, Tartu has made quite a big name for herself, being notorious for her employee-client satisfaction rate and sweet-as-starfruit personality. Although affable as can be to the public eye, behind closed doors she manages her company with a deceptively vicelike grip. Luben may be able to avoid her wrath, but how long until Tartu realizes she’s being conned by one of her own star employees?
Davi
A stunning woman notorious for her work as a model and actress. Her ability, which allows her to drastically change her colors and body type in a very short period of time, means that she’s versatile enough to suit almost any gig, and she’s well-desired for it. However, the high demand and even higher expectations (not aided by the fact that she’s usually roped into food or lingerie ads) has taken a massive toll on her general well-being. But how is one supposed to escape such a predatory industry intact when nobody will let her catch a break?

This dragon tail has small flecks of purple on a background of black. It was a fun pattern to put together, because I haven’t had many chances to do asymmetric patterns.
And I can’t believe I’ve never posted any photos of these tails all pineconed. It’s a fun silly thing to do with them. Because of the nature of the scale weave, and since they’re hollow except for a tensile system of internal supports, you can hang them upside-down and lower them onto the ground and they collapse down like that.
Anyway. Purple and black anodized aluminum scales linked together with stainless steel rings. If you’re curious about these, you can check out my tail ordering guide.
This dragon tail is almost complete, it’s just waiting on some spikes to be installed down the spine. This is actually the first big project I’ve gotten to use the “frost” anodized aluminum scales on. I chose them over standard aluminum to try to better match the commissioner’s character reference. They’ve got a more brightly diffuse cloudy sort of surface, rather than the distorted-reflection of the normal aluminum.
After a long period of being busy with other things, I’m once again working on pushing through my commission queue. Started this tail over the weekend, hoping to get the next one done in the next week also.
Got photos of this chainmail dragon tail today. It’s got a custom pattern of jagged V shapes in red on a black background, over a blue underbelly.
It’s not quite done, I still need to add spikes into it down the spine. I plan to get that done and get more photos of it in the next couple days.
I’m almost done clearing out my backlogged commission queue! I’ll be opening up again for new orders soon!
The second dragon tail I finished up today! (I’d gotten both mostly built in quick succession, but wasn’t able to do the spikes until just now. Here are some photos of it from earlier without the spikes.) This one has jagged red Vs on a black background, with a blue underbelly. Also a more dense pattern of spikes than I normally do, with large spikes on the red areas and small spikes on the black.
My friends are excellent, by the way.
This one measures in at 33 inches from tip to top of belt, and 3 pounds 1 ounce in weight.
Again, I’ll be opening up for new commissions for these in a week or so. I’ll be updating my tail commissioning guide before I do.
Dragon tail in blackened stainless steel! It’s been a while since I got to make something with this material, it’s one of my favorites. Really sturdy, and I very much enjoy the matte, slightly textured surface finish. Though it can develop surface rust if it gets wet, and when it’s new it has some dark oil and dusty residue left over from the manufacturing process which tends to rub off onto your hands.
This tail measures in at 30 inches from tip to the top of the belt loop, and weighs in at 3 pounds 14 ounces. It’s also got a lobster clasp at the tip, which is good for attaching various things to for fun.
Here’s an in-progress shot of it that shows the texture of the scales better. You can also see the lobster clasp at the tip in that photo.
It’s a dragon tail! Surprising nobody!
Blue anodized aluminum with a stripe of yellow, and an underbelly of plain aluminum. This one measures in at 2 pounds 10 ounces and 29.5 inches long. It’s also got a lobster clasp that you can see just barely right at the tip.
And I grabbed a quick shot of the belt loop attachment, because it’s been a while since I posted a photo of that.
I’ve got a pile of masks to produce in the next week, but I’m planning on opening for May commission requests over the weekend.
A mostly blue dragon tail with a yellow underbelly. Made with anodized aluminum scales, a full line of chrome spikes down the spine, and a diamond-shaped leather spade tip in blue.
I included a close-up of the tip of the tail to show the lobster clasps that hold the spade tip. And also a photo under fluorescent lights to show how hard it is to get this blue to show up properly in photos. White balance is weird, guys.
Anyway, the stats on this one: it measures 33 inches from tip to top of belt line, and the spade tip adds 2.5 inches. In total it weighs 3 pounds 6 ounces.
playing around with an <i>ancient</i> OC idea, remixed and updated and generally made more “willing to show the internet” lol
