You watched as the snow fell outside from your window; you were wrapped in a blanket, trying to warm yourself up after getting home from school. You had just finished your last final, and you were so glad to be on break, getting home before the snow had fallen.
Your Christmas tree sat near you, illuminated by the Christmas lights as Christmas music played softly in the background, making you finally feel the Christmas spirit now that the stress of school was behind you. At least, until the new semester started up again in January, but for now you could enjoy the holidays worry-free.
You were enjoying the peaceful ambiance you had created, listening to your wall clock ticking away the seconds, drawing your attention to it. Your eyes rolled in annoyance, knowing your boyfriend and his brothers would come barreling through the door any minute now to disturb your peacefulness. It’s not that they annoyed you. It was just the first time since August that you had time to sit back and relax. The season’s first snowfall made you want a quiet night at home.
Like clockwork, when the clock struck 6:00 pm, the door to your apartment banged open, the doorknob slamming against the wall and coming back to close, only to be stopped by your boyfriend as he led in his brothers. They came in a horde, pushing each other to get through the door and out of the cold, shoes being kicked off, beanies covered in snowflakes being pulled off their heads as they shoved each other out of the way to hang their coats on the coat rack. Arms flew in every direction, smacking against each other, and curse words flew before your boyfriend chastised all his younger siblings.
