Fajar sought the pendant's power to heal his mental illness. All it did was turn him into an animal.

Sean wanted power, and he got burned by the fire.

Kuroki wanted her sister back, now her sister haunts her as a bad memory.

Jinfeng wanted to help the poor, and became what she swore to fight against in her ivory tower.

Yang wanted his family back, he didn't get it.

Sifu is a better 'Shang Chi' Movie than Shang Chi.

When a group of White men have a better grasp on Chinese Kung Fu than an all-Asian cast and staff on an Asian-Centric movie.

Sure, Asians invented Kung Fu, but count on the White Man to improve on the inventions of other people.

But ultimately Shang Chi was a safe movie with a safe understanding of Chinese Culture. It wasn't meant to delve deeper into the lives and ideals of Chinese-Americans. It was Jamie Oliver Fried Rice, compared to properly cooked Fried Rice. Safe and palatable for the liberals who can't handle some seeds in their chili.

Sifu: Kuroki's true personality

Kunai Kuroki is the 'real' personality, i.e the one who is 'alive':

While Staff Kuroki is the twin sister who 'died':

Kunai Kuroki is predominantly in mourning colors and her eye makeup is streaked from crying over her twin sister's body.

Staff Kuroki is neat and dressed up for her own 'funeral'.

Kunai Kuroki's fighting style is more aggressive while Staff Kuroki fights defensively. Which possibly reflects their respective roles as murderer and victim. Kunai Kuroki may be the sister who lived, but she allows the dead sister's personality to be the dominant personality. Probably out of guilt exacerbated by the magic artifact she took from her Sifu.
