Flurries of gossip dance around the stable as people gather over food. Horses feed on dry grass, firelight on their hair. Wolf hangs back to take care of them. His fingers intricately comb through one’s mane, whispering something to the animal. He seems content away from the crowd.

On the contrary, Dragon sits center stage, holding a wooden ladle that they picked up from some bokoblin camp. They laugh as they serve soup and listen to the stablehands banter, turning down offers of reimbursement for their help with dinner. Though their eyes gleam, they seem distracted, thoughts lingering. The fire spotlights their burn scars.

Link hangs somewhere in the middle. She sits on the grass, bowl in her lap. The fire is close enough to warm her without compelling her to participate in the conversation. Murmurs and secrets pass her ears.

Is something changing? They say. The Divine Beast has recovered, and wind whistles through the Dueling Peaks. The grass is greener. I heard the Zora are celebrating.
