Sonamy leaps in Frontiers. I'm slowly getting through scenes highlighted.
During the first Koco flashback, we see Sonic run after Amy and drag her back. This is where Amy becoming emotionally invested can be a setback for her. Good thing Sonic is there to ground her and attempt to pull her strength back. I like how he's struggling to hold her back. He's totalled giant robots, but Amy can be a struggle for him. It's a sweet characterisation that Amy is stronger than we think.
The aftermath of the Koco affects them both. Of course, Amy being the more emotionally attached. Sonic shows his empathies but he knows he's got to get her back.
When Amy pours her heart out that she's willing to put focus on helping others, rather than it just happening as she's looking for Sonic, she opens up that she believes in the power of love. I think Sonic's expression says it all that he understands what she means.
Amy stating that her goal will drive her and Sonic further apart clearly bothers him a tad. But, he thinks on the right words to say and says he'll hear all about it when she comes back. This pretty much confirms he'll wait for her which he inadvertently opens up to her. He's never admitted to wanting to wait for Amy before.
And that smile is a genuine Sonic smile.
After he defeats Giganto, he locates Amy and his gaze softens. He's still got the iconic Super Sonic frowny eyes, but the smile and higher frown shows it softer.
More Sonamy in Frontiers. Let's go!
Sage begins berating Sonic. He's clearly annoyed and hurt by this gesture that saving his friends is considered bad. You can see his eyes are more furrowed and angular.
Amy comes to his rescue. More instances of his introversion as he stays silent when Amy defends him. Amy is the emotional support of the two. This isn't to say Sonic can't emotionally defend Amy, but she would be quick to charge in if any of them were at harm. Another misconception, that just because Sonic is male, doesn't make him dominant nor typically masculine emotionally. I'm liking these stereotype breaks.
The locking eye contact... Amy's clutching her chest which is a body language of feeling touched. I don't actually know why, could be the internal feeling that both have a mutual bond as it has nothing to do with Sage. We can't see Sonic's mouth as he's covering it with his hand in thought... but could be a smile forming as a way to say thank you. Speculation though.
The argument was well written. Sonic is displeased with this situation, as he feels he's wasting his time. Not because of the "gotta go fast" mentality. That saying needs to die. He's wasting time since Amy is clearly locked in limbo and he wants her safe.
A great example of Amy being the more emotional and aggressive one. She's leaning forward. Sonic's not leaning back in fear, he's standing his ground and diffusing any negativity.
You can see his look of defeat at Amy's situation. This is him pouring his current feelings on the situation at hand, which is a big deal for Sonic.
Changing from the listening look to the iconic Sonic grin. He's too sweet for words.
He still has a look of uncertainty at trying to free Amy.
do u ever think about if sonic ever thought to himself about how amy stopped being overly affectionate? I know in Frontiers he says something about it feeling weird without having Tails close by or something. I always daydreamed over if he noticed a change in Amy..

Hiii! I ADORE YOUR WORK!!! If you don’t mind taking this request, I’d LOVE to see Amy drinking iced-lattes with Sonic. With Sonic wearing a red hoodie and Amy in a magenta hoodie and dark purple skirt. It may or may not be a date.
Also, which eye color do you usually prefer on Amy? Her usual green eyes like Sonic’s or teal/greenish blue? I like teal personally, but green works too.
