Sonic Tangled Au - Tumblr Posts
Concept character designs for Miles/Tails and Sonic:
I wanted to stick as closely as I could to their original designs while reflecting small ways in which the two would be different without having had the other in their life (A much more insecure Miles/Tails - his attire reflecting Eggman’s control over him and Sonic being much more scraped up after having had no one by his side to look before he leaps).
There’s a LOT lot, lot, lot more to say about these two. I look forward to revealing more soon both story wise and art wise (I already have a few neater and refined pics ready to go based off scene parallels and general ideas, so will start posting some soon!).
When I said the tangled AU has me on a chokehold I wasn’t lying.

Sonic Wanted Posters:
Eggman makes Sonic Wanted posters. Not particularly to catch him…but mostly to annoy him! And while Sonic has gotten used to it, during his and Miles/Tails travels he’ll often rip them up and stamp on them (much to the fox’s amusement who finds the whole thing hilarious).
“Why are my arms BLUE?!“
“My spines are NOT that short”
“Why are my legs so freakishly long?”
“Me with a big nose? Guess Egghead took inspiration from himself for that one”
“Okay, now he’s just running out of ideas!”
“Now he’s just being mean”
( A fun little meta reference to some complaints often made about sonics design along with some references to Tall Sonic from the Sonic Twitter account, Sanic and Sonic adventure and SonicX poses! And a certain someone you may recognise on the second one ;) )
Movie scene parallel: (takes place a bit before the argument scene shown in my first art pic). Self serving as ever, Eggman’s big surprise for Miles/Tails is just some new tools.

This one was mostly for some practice!
However, there are some story related details along with it that I can spill:
-On the left of the control panel is a concealed button which if ever pressed would put the lab into an emergency lockdown of sorts, granting Eggman control of all the tech within it and blocking the only window. This is incase Miles/Tails were to ever fall out of line. Eggman’s never had to use the button…but that changes towards the end of the story.
-On the right of the control panel in a similar model to Miles/Tails glove cuffs is a device Eggman secretly uses to track him.
-One of the many things Miles/Tails builds for Eggman are capsules which is why he has one around to store Sonic in. He’s under the impression they are used to help safely transport the little animals they are built to contain to safety…when unbeknownst to him they are obviously used for quite the opposite!

Pre AU info 4: Sonic The Hedgehog - Broken Hero.
A few additional details:
- Sonic still try’s to visit Knuckles on Angel Island on occasion…when he hasn’t damaged the Tornado that is! Though Knuckles is EXTRA protective over the emerald around him.
- If it wasn’t for Amy and Vanilla running around after him with bandages he’d probably never properly treat his injuries.
- With little to no battle technique he often overly relies on the Chaos Emeralds and his super form.
[ This one was surprisingly hard but really interesting to write about! And makes me realise just how much credit Tails deserves. On so many occasions they REALLY would have struggled without him (big thanks to my friend @myyla-x for putting together a list for me surrounding how cannon events may have gone if he was absent!). I well and truly believe Tails needs Sonic as much as Sonic needs Tails. And if Eggman has Tails, not only is he more powerful in one regard, but Sonic is less powerful…. Gosh, Sonic REALLY needs a hug in this AU! ]
