Summary: Bobby sends the boys in the direction of a friend of his who develops a bond with the Angel
You picked up the call. ‘What?’ You growled into the phone. ‘I’m working’ You looked around the corner to see the vamp still standing by the dumpster. He hadn’t actually munched into the pretty girl but he was still your best bet. ‘Nice, speaking to you too Y/n’ Bobby’s voice chuckled. You grunted. ‘John’s boys were wonde-’ You seen the vamp lean in and perked up your hand going to your machete. ‘Yeah, yeah, send them over to the flat’ You muttered hanging up as you heard her scream. You pulled out the large blade dashing forwards.
You tossed the towel into the washing machine. You had owned this flat for almost seven years, once you had turned eighteen you had moved from home, just like the rest of your brothers and sisters. It was only a small two bedroom flat with a small front room and a small kitchen. It wasn’t like you spent much time here. It was just a focal point for your hunting.
You reached out taking the gun from the bottom drawer of your cabinet. You threw open the kitchen door and cocked the gun. You clicked the bullet into the chamber. The three men in your front room ‘Who are you and what the hell do you want’ You snarled but then your eyes fell on the black expanse behind the smallest of the three in the trench coat. ‘And why the hell are you bringing an Angel into my home?’ Your eyes ran over the large black wings. 'You can tell he's an Angel?' The smaller one looked at you suspiciously his hand going to his gun. You cocked your own and he froze. 'It’s a little obvious' You looked at him as if he had grown two heads.
The Angel beside him tilted his head to the side giving you a squinted look. One that made your heart swell for some reason. And you just wanted to reach out to him and cuddle him.
Strange. 'Dean' The taller warned and then turned back to you. 'Listen-eh-Y/n right?' You gave him a curt nod. 'We need a favor and your name was mentioned in our Dads journal' You raised an eyebrow indicating for him to go on. ‘We need your help. I’m Sam’ The taller one introduced himself. He had a denim jeans on and a checkered shirt. He wore a light grey jacket over it.
He turned to the man on the right. ‘This is Dean’ He pointed to the smaller man. Like the first he had a pair of denim jeans on and wore an open long sleeved dark blue shirt, underneath was a black t shirt. He wore a kakki jacket over it all.
You nodded. ‘And this is Castiel’ He nodded to the Angel. He wore a dark navy business suit with a crisp white shirt. The top button was open giving him a relaxed look, although his posture was anything but relaxed. He wore a dark blue tie loosely around his neck. His bright blue eyes watching your every move. He had a very attractive vessel.
You unloaded the gun and laid it on the rocking chair beside you. ‘I know who you are. You’re John’s boys and you’re and Angel. Bobby told me’ Castiel’s wings folded in behind him and he relaxed slightly now that you had lowered your gun, no longer ready to fly at the first sign of trouble.
Dean’s mouth dropped open. ‘Wait, you knew who we were but you still threatened to shoot us?’ You almost rolled your eyes as you began walking towards him. ‘Yes’ you stopped picking up the water bottle on the table. ‘Don’t you know not to barge into a hunter’s home without announcing yourself’ You jerked your hand forwards splashing Dean with some Holy Water. He jerked back and closed his eyes his face unamused.
You turned and did the same to Sam. ‘I believe she is right’ Castiel stepped forwards closer to you and you gulped. ‘We apologise for intruding in your home. We should not have done so’ You furrowed your eyebrows wanting to reply with something snarky. Like you normally would, but the way he was looking at you so innocent and earnest.
You smiled at him. ‘Thank you for the apology Castiel’ Your smile got bigger as his wings rustled behind him expanding a little and his feathers shaking before he curled them back up. He furrowed his eyebrows and squinted his eyes at you. You gulped and cleared your throats. ‘So, what can I do for you boys?’ You looked away from Castiel’s eyes and at Sam.
He looked at Dean and cleared his throat. Dean pulled something out of the back of his trousers. ‘Do you remember a case you did with our Dad in West Virginia?’ He asked as he started to flick through the journal. ‘I’ve done a few cases with your Father Dean, be more specific’ You watched him. ‘It was about 5 years ago’ You nodded.
Dean held out the journal to you. ‘He just describes what was happening and then he mentions you’ You nodded reading the entry. All John had put it in was the deaths and how they had happened, and then half way down the page. Called Y/n, case handled. ‘Yeah, I remember this, ganked the bitch on my Birthday. John bought me a big platter from the diner after we finished’ You smiled remembering the hunt with John Winchester.
It had been your 23rd birthday. ‘Why do you ask?’ You closed the journal handing it back to Dean. ‘Well, we have encountered something similar and can’t figure out what it is’ You sighed and raised your hand to rub your face. ‘Are you alright?’ Castiel’s deep voice. You felt his presence beside you as he reached his hand out but dropped it when it got within an inch of your arm.
You looked up at him and nodded. ‘Yeah, it-eh-it’s a Pagan God’ You looked back at Dean. ‘What you didn’t kill it did you?’ He crossed his arms. You crossed your own glaring at him slightly. ‘Yes, I did actually. This specific one comes in threes. I figured the other two were long dead’ Dean opened his mouth but his eyes flicked to Castiel and he closed it again.
You glanced at the Angel too catching the glare he was sending the older Winchester before he looked back at you his face softening. ‘Right, I think I lodged the weapon in somewhere’ You turned and waved at them to follow you.
You brought them to the spare bedroom. ‘Woah’ Sam’s eye lit up when he walked into the room. Three walls were lined with books. The bookshelves reached the ceiling. The books were stacked normally with extras on top of them. The shelves were full. There was a desk in the corner and a small couch on the fourth wall bhind the door. In the middle was more piles of books, nine chests of drawers created a spiral in the middle of the room. Each drawer full of more books and the top were more leather bound archives.
You smiled at him. ‘You like books?’ You asked. He nodded his wide eyes taking in the room in front of him. ‘He’s a nerd’ Dean stepped into the room beside you. ‘Well that’s something we have in common’ He looked down at you. ‘I can see, are these all Lore books?’ He asked and you nodded. ‘Except for the chest over there, those are my accounts and all my files’ You began to make your way around the room to get to the back to the chest you had indicated to.
You crouched down by it opening the bottom drawer. ‘I lodged the weapon in a storage unit, I use different names’ You explained to the boys. ‘But I don’t know which one I’ll look through these and find it for you’ You jumped and put your hand to your chest as Castiel appeared beside you. ‘We can search through the records’ He smiled down apologetically at you as he curled his large wings in behind him. ‘It was easier than walking’ He explained as you gaped at him. ‘Flying is easier, it can take me anywhere in the world. Not just across rooms’ You smiled and began to rummage through the drawer. ‘You’ve been around the world?’ You asked.
You could hear the two boys whispering at the door. ‘Almost every place in the world yes’ He answered as you began to take out two or three books. ‘I think these are the names I used’ You muttered to yourself. As soon as you put them down Castiel picked up the books taking them in his arms. You closed the drawer and reached out to take them from him. ‘I can manage them’ With that he disappeared and appeared by the couches. ‘Sam, Dean’ He held out the books to them.
They looked between you and the Angel. ‘I shall take one and you shall take the others’ He sat on the couch and opened one of them. ‘Buddy’ Dean began to make his way over to his friend. ‘You okay?’ He asked and Castiel nodded looking in the book. ‘It’s all logged by dates, if that makes it easier. You boys want a beer?’ You asked. Sam nodded as he sat down on the couch beside Castiel. ‘Please, if you don’t mind?’ The Angel curled up his wing that had been laid across the couch and sat forwards a little. You giggled as you watched him get his wings out of the way.
You looked at Dean. ‘Beer?’ He nodded. ‘Castiel?’ You asked and he looked up at you. His wings stretched and his feathers ruffled. ‘I do not drink or eat, my vessel does not require sustenance’ You opened your mouth and nodded. You did not want to get into the anatomy of angels, with an angel.
You handed Dean a beer. ‘Found it yet?’ You asked leaning over him. ‘It’s not in this one’ He tossed down the book onto the desk taking the beer from you. You smacked him. ‘Careful with those’ You snapped. He leaned back in the desk chair. ‘There’s a lot of entries in this one from that time, it could be in this one.
You sat down on the edge of the couch by Sam. You took the book flicking through them. ‘I don’t even remember half of this’ You muttered. ‘Here’ You laid your finger on the entry. ‘It’s in Pennsylvania. It’ll take me about a day to get it’ You closed the book memorizing the number. ‘I can get you there and back. I can fly us’ Castiel stood in front of you holding his hand out to you.
You smiled. ‘Oh, yeah. Angel’ He nodded smiling slightly. He stretched out his wings. Your eyes ran along the vast black expanse. ‘So, I get to fly’ You stood up beaming. ‘It’s not as fun as it sounds’ Dean grumbled leaning back in the chair.
You shrugged and reached out taking Castiel’s hand in yours. You felt a jolt through your body. Your breath caught in your throat. Castiel tensed and his fingers tightened around your. His wings spread out as far as they could. The tips of the wings brushing against the bookshelves on the walls on both sides of the room.
He tilted his head to the side. ‘Y/n’ He breathed. You felt goosebumps erupt all over your body. You felt a pull towards him, like you needed to be with him. Your lips parted and he stepped closer to you. His wings curled reaching towards you. You shivered as a feather ran up your bare arm. ‘Eh guys?’ But neither of your paid attention.
You sighed closing your eyes as a feather rolled along your cheekbone. It was soft and fluffy. It wasn’t like a normal feather. It wasn’t like a material object, it was just a presence. But you could still feel it as it dragged along your face, along your cheek and over your jaw, down your neck. Cotton wool, that was the closest thing to the sensation, but Castiel’s wings were a million times softer. ‘Cas’ Dean snapped. Your eyes shot open.
Castiel’s wings snapped away from you filling the space behind him. Although you could tell that the were straining to touch you again. ‘You two okay?’ Dean laid his hand on your shoulder. His eyebrows furrowed and his eyes crinkled. ‘Cas? You alright man?’ Castiel’s eyes were on Dean’s hand. ‘Cas?’ You breathed. He looked back up to you. ‘It is a shortened version of my name’ He explained. You blushed under the intensity of his gaze. ‘W-we should go’ You breathed.
You seen him spread his wings and then flap downwards before you were standing outside the storage place. You stumbled a little and Castiel wrapped his wing around you. You fell into the soft black expanse and he steadied you. His eyes widened in realization and you pulled away from him. ‘Stay here, I’ll be back’ You turned and strode towards the door. You could feel his eyes on your back causing your body to heat up
You sat with your feet up on the desk. The book in your lap was based on God and Angels. You sighed and slammed the book closed. You had been reading it for almost three days and it did not explain anything about what you felt when Castiel had touched you. You jerked when you heard a bang on your door.
You reached into your jacket and pulled out a knife stalking down the hall. You covered your eyes as the front door burst open. Pieces of wood flew into your front room. You stood glaring at the three men in front of you. ‘Who the hell are you?’ You growled. The two men stepped over the door frame that was made out of a salt layer. Not demons.
You rolled and landed a punch on the taller man’s face. His head didn’t even snap to the side. These men were unlike anything you had ever encountered. No matter how many things you shot them with or stabbed them with, no harm was done to them. They carried long silver blades that you had never seen before. You backed away from them and turned. You ran towards your kitchen.
The glass shattered around you as you jumped. You could feel it cause small cuts on your body. Your feet hit the ground and you rolled, your shoulder did not agree with the way you landed on it. You were on your feet in seconds but you ran straight into someone. The smaller of the three, brought the blade up to your stomach.
You dropped your own blade and intercepted his hands. You threw your weight against him turning the blade in your hand. He stumbled and you drove his own blade up into his stomach. He shouted opening his mouth. A bright blue tinted light flooded from his mouth, eyes and nose. He dropped to the ground. Dead.
You held the silver blade up in front of your face. What the hell was that? You screamed as someone grabbed you around the waist turning you. Black flooded your vision for a second before disappearing. ‘Castiel’ You turned. You were met with a a trench coat and wings curling back around you. Castiel was standing in front of you facing off the man.
He lunged and Castiel punched him knocking him aside. His wing came down pushing you to the side. You stumbled falling into a car. You could hear the two men fighting behind you. You stood and turned. Castiel used his wings to steady himself standing. He twirled a blade in his hand. That was when you realized that he was using one identical to the men that had attacked you.
It should have made you distrust him. You had never seen this blade before and you meet someone, an Angel, and then a few days later. Men were attacking you with the same weapon. But you couldn’t bring yourself not to trust the man with the large black wings. You couldn’t bring yourself to feel anything but trust for him. Trust so deep you would lay your life in his hands at any given second, even only after being in his company for less than an hour.
You dove forwards pushing the blade in your hand through the man’s back. He shouted and turned knocking you aside. He turned looming above you. Then a blade appeared through his neck. Again he glowed that faint blue. When he dropped Castiel stood behind him. ‘Y/n’ His eyes roamed your body and you felt yourself shiver at his gravely voice.
You took the hand he held out for you. The reaction you had to his touch wasn’t as intense as the first time but it was still enough to cloud out the rest of the world. Your skin felt hot and your insides were on fire. Castiel’s wings wrapped around you covering you and him in black. His feathers running over ever inch of exposed skin on your body. You shivered pushing yourself back into the softness of his wings. They shivered at the feeling of you.
You sighed. ‘Wh-what were they?’ You whispered as Castiel stepped over the Angel and closer to you. ‘Angels?’ His eyebrows knitted together and he did that adorable cute head tilt again. ‘I thought you could recognize angels’ His normally sturdy voice shook. His hand tightened around yours. ‘You recognized me’ You thought he had fear in his voice. You could literally feel the fear coming off him. ‘Castiel’ You stepped closer to him your toes touching him. You hesitantly reach up. ‘How did you recognize me?’ You could feel he knew the answer.
You gulped afraid you would upset him. You laid your hand on his cheek. His skin was soft, almost as soft as his feathers. He sighed leaning into your touch. You smiled softly. It looked like there was something below his skin, glowing and trying to get out. ‘Your wings’ You whispered. You tore your eyes from his eyes and over the arc in the top of his wings behind his head. ‘You can see them? Now? They’re not just a shadow?’ His feathers rustled again and it sounded like they were humming. They tightened around you blocking out most of the light. But they seemed to glow themselves, giving off a faint blue light, the light moving over itself like the whisps of a cloud in front of a sun.
You leaned against him and his face softened. ‘Of course, they’re hard to miss Castiel’ Your eyes snapped back to his face. His eyes began to shine a soft blue, not the bright blue you had seen coming from the other Angel’s faces. It was contained inside of him, behind his deep blue eyes. ‘Y/n, humans are not supposed to see Angels wings. That is why you could not see the other Angels wings’ He explained in a soft voice.
You felt panic rise up inside of you. You were not supposed to see his wings, there was something wrong with you. Humans couldn’t see their wings. Maybe you weren’t human. If you weren’t human what were you? ‘Hey’ Castiel grabbed your face in his hands. ‘There is nothing wrong with you Y/n, please stop panicking’ You froze. ‘Can-can you read my mind?’ You whispered. Castiel smiled.
You liked it when he smiled, it lit up his face. His eyes crinkled and he looked happy. You just wanted this man to be happy. ‘No, I can feel the panic you’re in and I’m assuring you there is nothing wrong with you’ He paused for a moment before continuing. ‘You are perfect’ You felt heat rise to your cheeks. It spread to your ears and down your neck. ‘The reason you can see my wings is because you’re my Soulmate. Your soul was made to fit perfectly with me’ He leaned down leaning his forehead against yours. ‘You are mine, my human. My perfect little human’ You knew this should scare you.
Castiel was talking of soulmates. Together forever, or however long you got. A commitment that lasted the rest of your life. You had only met this man and he was your forever. He wasn’t even a man. He was something supernatural, something you were raised to fear and kill. And you belonged to him. Your souls were made for each other, you were meant to fit together. For eternity. That should scare you.
But it didn’t. Everything in you just wanted this man near you. It was now that you realised why you were so irritated and uncomfortable for the past few days. You were missing him. You were missing Castiel. You we’re missing the man who was your soulmate.
You were meant to be with him. You reached your hand out. You sighed as your fingers touched the soft feathers. This was what you imagined clouds felt like, only so much better. You tangled your fingers in his feathers. Castiel let out a groan and dropped his head onto your shoulder. His arms wrapped around you pulling you tightly against him. His wings pressing against you everywhere else. His feathers moving burying your hand deeper into his wings. You wrapped your other arm around his shoulders your fingers tangling in his hair, which was almost as soft as his wings.
You sighed finally feeling content and happy. You felt whole.
