My Au - Updating, Introducing OC'S and plot divergence

Hey, how ya'll doing? It's been a while... My work schedule is unforgiving at the moment 🙃

So, i've been working on my Au for the past few weeks whenever I had the opportunity. It is inspired by multiple fanfictions that I've read, and here's how it's going so far:

Jake Sully

When Jake arrived, he was taken aback by how things were being run at Hells gate, lower Ranked workers were being overworked and underpaid, he also heard through the grape vine that many were being threatened and blackmailed into silence by superiors and SEC-OPS about shandy stuff that had been happening, such as the deviation of funds from the mining safety regulation programs towards more poaching equipment, weapons and bigger equipment for intensive mining, as well as lining the pockets of superior assets to the company, he was less than pleased, but what strengthen his resolve was watching how the scientists were being treated by Selfridge, he hates the guy, especially after the accident...

When Jake was in the Avatar for the first time, he had a "seizure", at least that's what the science guys told him, and his human body went into a comatose, almost dead like state, while his mind was stuck in the Avatar, most likely permanently...Selfridge immediately goes into self-preservation mode and tries to make excuses, half-assed apologies, and then just straight-up blames Jake

"You read the contract. You knew the risks. This is all on you."

Now Jake reeeeeeeally wants to screw this guy over, and hopefully find a way to help the other workers and scientists along the way as well, so he starts hatching a plan, he talks to Grace and promises her he'll help them "get out" if they want to, he's leaving, but that doesn't mean he'll leave them high and dry, Grace and the other scientists are apprehensive of the idea, but decide to give Jake a set of Comns for safety and updates on how well his plan will work out.

He stays for around 3 months, getting a feel for his new body, working out, preparing himself...a few days before leaving, Trudy came to him with a serious request. She overhead him speaking to Max and Grace and needed help for a friend. She promised to keep his escape plans a secret.

Trudy took him to a room, there he finds Paz Socorro, an exhauted looking woman, who begs for him to help her, she has an health condition that only seems to be getting worse and she has another problem, Spider...

Spider is born a hybrid, the first human baby on pandora, born with a kuro and faded stripes along his body, covered in light freckles with the cutest little nose and pointy ears, Jake is as shocked as he is smitten by the little guy...how that happened...Paz saw the fruit growing outside, and her cravings got the best of her, they supposedly weren't dangerous for humans... Paz tells him that she might not survive because the human resources and insurance assholes that work for Selfridge keep making excuses as not to help pay for the surgery or having it at all on base, Paz has a heart condition discovered during her pregnancy, without proper help she will get sicker and most likely die, but they rather take their chances and send her back to earth even though she could also die in cryo and Spider would be left parentless, she's also worried about her son, selfridge knows about Spiders "condition" and she scared of what might happen to him.

She begs Jake to take her son, he can breath pandoran air, so he'll be fine, Jake is a bit worried about this decision but Paz tells him this might be the only way to keep her baby safe, he can't say no to that little face,so he accepts and is surprised when Paz pull out official papers

(Paz "His father is a dangerous man, he refused to sign the birth certificate, but I need to be sure he can't get him through any loopholes"

Jake "You're...adoption papers!? Paz, are you sure? Isn't it better to make me like a babysitter guardian guy or whatever? I mean we just met, and you asking me to take your kid, you dont know me!..."

Paz "No, this needs to be ironclad, I need this to be official. He will never get his hands on my baby boy, and I KNOW enough Sully, I know you offered others help to get out, so here i am accepting on the behalf of my son"

Jake "Ok!...ok, just...Jesus..."

Paz "i might not see either of you again...with the way things are going for me..."

Jake "I will take care of him...i promise you this, this kid is gonna be the happiest little guy"

Paz "You better you dumbass, or my spirit will haunt your blue ass")

(SPIDER DESERVES ALL THE LOVE, HE IS BABY)

And so, with the help of Truddy, Jake steals a bunch of supplies, including weapons and ammo, Grace helps cover up for him during their trip to look for samples. From there, with little Spider hidden in his backpack, he slowly shys away into the forest where he starts their new journey...

Still working out how he'll end up stumbling into Omatikaya territory...

So far, I've also been working on some of my Human OC'S that will be relevant to the AU, like the Viperwolf Hunters, we now also have

Maya Aguillar

Maya is an Avatar Driver, she worked in the labs, delved into Bioengineering, making prosthetics for both human nd na'vi alike, along with other medical devices built with Unobtainium, her search was defunded however because Harding's poaching was more profitable and she didn't exactly have the power to protest this decision, with her research on hold, she was then given the job of outside maintenance on her base(she only met Harding and Mercer once when she arrived, she she was tranfered to a lab a bit far out from the main base), Maya was sick and tired of all the excuses for not being able to fund her research, the mistreatment by higher ups and just the overall work conditions, when news of Jake Sullys escape and disappearance got out, aswell as learning that many others started leaving too, including some old friends, she made a risky decision and bounced, she had knowledge of a long abandoned mobile link inside a mountains wall far way, she took a jeep, hid her avatar in it and waited for nightfall, then she was gone... But that just the beginning because what she didn't realise is that the mobile link is very close to the Aranahe Clan, who didn't take long to notice their new neighbour...

John Maverick

Basically, it's a cowboy that came to Pandora, and now drives an Avatar.

Veterinary, big and small port animals, Pandoran Fauna and Flora enthusiast/expert, he was on animal care in a projet to study Pandoran animals, had to restrain himself from finding and strangling both Harding and Mercer after seeing the conditions in which the animals were being kept...he found a way to leave, as a human first, then busting open the gates on the back of an angstik he named Bluebell (like the cow he raised back home has a kid, his best friend), middle fingers up for the cameras with more than 15 heads of Catle and three funny and charismatic Pa'li that love to nip his ears... this man disapears, he finds a place(thank god thes people just abandon mobile links everywhere) where he can safely use the link unit, now he roams the plains with his herd of animals, he keeps them happy and safe, totally decked out in Cowboy fashion, hat and all (I imagine this man looping a rope on one of the bulls because they panic or something, throws himself on top of them rodeo style, lets them tire out and then just spends time sitting there calming this huge creature down with pats on their back and treats till the convince them to join the herd again) he's living his best life...in Zeswa lands...guess he thought the kites where just pretty decorations...(still working on drawing him)

That's it for now, but I'm still working in these OC'S, I'll don't more indept backgrounds for them later on.

There's also my concept of humans adapting to Pandora with Eywa's help. Basically, the Great Mother is loving and mischievous, and she'll use her children to guide these humans who long for a new life, for example, my take on humans being able to breath and eat and LIVE on Pandora will be because she'll use her Atokirina, or maybe animals to guide humans to flowers, moss or fungi, that when exposed to without a mask, changes their biology. Maybe they fall and break their mask and breath in spores or polen, maybe the animal suddenly pulls the mask from their face(A human guided by this nice, cute Syaksyuk getting their mask ripped of and face shoved into a flower) and then boom, they breath and eat from Pandora with no trouble!

Eywa will take to making humans See and learn, but also learn from them and adapt, so that everyone is happy 😊

Since I watched ATWOW I've become obsessed with Kiri x Spider: their playful dynamics, their wholesome and apparently impossible relationship, the way they are so crazy in love exactly the way they are. This is why I'd prefer to see them get together as a human and a Na'vi.

I've been wanting to make some art of them forever and I have several scenarios in mind but I need help from you because I don't know where to start. Thanks 🩵

Sketching is done, let's see how it turns out in digital, proportions need to be fixed too. In the meanwhile I'm keeping an eye on the poll! Let me know what you think 💙

Spider spoilers and ramblings below!

Hi everyone, I hope you are well 🩵

I posted my Kiri/Spider draft months ago but I was kind of blocked at that stage, in the meantime I saw a bunch of Spider pictures from the set of Avatar 3 and something clicked.

From what we could see so far, looks like Spider will be welcomed in the Metkayina clan, get a tattoo (by taming a tsurak maybe?) and a new look, and he will even grow a kuru and be able to connect with Eywa through the Tree of Souls! Well, that's a lot to process! If I'm correct, it would mean the world to me, because what I cherish most about Kiri/Spider dynamic is that they love and complement each other exactly the way they are, they have this deep connection due to being both outsiders in some way and a relationship that people won't approve of would be way more romantic, wouldn't it? This is why I'd personally prefer Spider to not get an Avatar but to grow a kuru and the ability to breath Pandoran air instead.

So, with all of this in mind I partially redrew my art, currently coloring it and Spider will be 100% spoiler Spider 😆 I hope you will like it!

Totally! Please don't get me wrong, but when I see Spider get an Avatar in some photo from the set that might imply it or otherwise, I feel kinda let down. Do we really need to change a natural body and beauty to fit the standards, does every couple need to be able to have biological children to be happy? I know it's just a Hollywood movie, but I think imperfection and diversity are more thrilling and relatable than a perfect body and ending.

It's finally done! I've never spent so many hours on an art before but this one is very dear to me 💙

Spoilers ahead

My guess is that Spider will tell the Sullys only after they find out recom Quaritch is alive and there will be some drama, mirroring the scene in 2009 Avatar when Jake was rejected by Neytiri and the clan, but I'm 100% sure Kiri will stick to his side, and quite sure also Jake won't be too hard on him.

One of the things I'm most excited to see in Avatar 3 is how the Sullies will learn that Spider saved the life of Quaritch.

Personally, I believe that Spider will tell them himself. I'm just not sure whether he'll confess before or after they learn Quaritch is alive. If he tells them before, I think the Sullies would be a bit more forgiving since they'll have time to process and accept that Quaritch survived, but if he keeps it a secret until after they'll be more likely to react badly since they'll still be struggling with the shock that Quaritch is still out there.

I don't think Quaritch will tell them himself because he'd be afraid of them, specifically Neytiri, reacting badly and possibly hurting Spider. However, I could see a scenario where Quaritch is trying to talk Spider into coming with him and Spider refuses, so then Quaritch tells one of the Sullies how he's still alive in an effort to make Spider feel like the Sullies hate him now and he has no choice but to qo with Quaritch.

There's also a possibility that both Spider and Quaritch will keep their mouths shut and one of the Sullies will guess what he did, but I feel like this one is less likely to happen since the family was so distracted with rescuing each other from drowning that they didn't pay much attention to Spider disappearing for awhile.

But this is all just my two cents on it, I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks!

kiri: my mom was weird and was a scientist. your dad tried to commit genocide and almost killed my parents. so,

kiri: they all got their quirks, ya know?

Sometimes I like to think that spider used to watch videos of his parents when he was younger. I doubt Norm or Max wanted to tell this young impressionable like six year old that his father was a mass murderer and this is why the parents of your only friends distance themselves from you.

Like just imagine spider had a bad day, maybe Neytiri growled at him for getting to close to newborn baby Tuk or him and Lo’ak got into a physical fight for whatever reason and they’re now grounded from seeing each other for however long. He doesn’t really have anyone to go home to so they can comfort him, Norm and Max are more like the friends of your parents who occasionally watch you during emergencies.

He obviously knows that parents are usually supposed to comfort you when you’re upset, he’s seen it maybe times with the Sully children but he doesn’t have parents or at least he doesn’t believe he does until he does some digging into the labs data base while the adults are asleep. He finds Paz Socorro (obviously his mom bc of their matching last names) and a few links in her file for emergency contacts, he doesn’t even hesitate before clicking on Miles’ name immediately clocking the matching name. He doesn’t read any info on the files before immediately loading the first available video.

A video of Miles just talking about whatever maybe a mission report or just a random message to a higher up but he’s immediately in love, right in front of him is the person he’s longed for his whole life after seeing Jake interacting with the Sully children time after time again. He doesn’t even question his relationship with the man immediately recognizing him as his father: He doesn’t even process the words coming out of his newly discovered fathers mouth before clicking on the next video and then the next and the next… and the next until sunrise, spending the whole time processing everything about his father. His accent, his body language, anything and everything. Maybe he didn’t understand half the words coming out of his fathers mouth but that didn’t matter to him.

There’s still a multitude of videos left but he’s officially out of time as in the next few minutes the scientists will certainly be up and ready to continue their previous nights research.

He goes back to his room to just sit and think about his father and what could’ve been.

The next night he immediately goes to the lab after the scientists are done for the night, stealing a tablet and rushing back to the safe confines of his empty room and decides to watch videos of his mother. The videos are all dated a few months before his birth (unsurprisingly) but he eagerly watches each one hoping that maybe just maybe she’ll mention him and perhaps have a message saved for him. While she doesn’t it doesn’t disturb him too much (can’t miss something you never had.) Spider continues watching videos of his parents every following night eventually recognizing some of their little habits in him, Miles’ way of glowering when too upset to talk Paz’s little snort when laughing and more and can’t help but beam in pride when he figures it out. Especially when he realizes some of his more embarrassing habits came from his parents he comes to wholly embrace them.

He continues watching the videos in secret not really understanding why he keeps it a secret but does so anyways.

Eventually he decides he wants to copy the way his fathers speaks finding the so different accent endearing. He already knows the ins and outs of it due to watching videos of his father for so long, he practices for a while before deeming himself ready. He tries the accent on one of the scientists who IMMEDIATELY stop him mid sentence. They immediately shut him down not explaining why and during a heated argument that ensues the truth comes out.

People who he was once so proud of he only felt shame and guilt about now. Now realizing why Neytiri was always so cold and distant with him.

Only on his worst days is he willing to watch his very favorite videos of his parents. Bad feelings melting away as he delves into the videos immediately returning when the videos end. Shame building up in him as he catches the fondness and love he feels for the monsters in the videos he watches. But that doesn’t stop him from watching them on his worst days when he feels like the only people who care about him are the dead people recorded on his tablet, he isn’t doing anything wrong as long as no one finds out right?

His love develops every video he watches of his parents, no matter how much he tries to fight it. their personalities so very much a like it’s no surprise these people are his parents. Not that he’ll tell anyone about that.

Petition to change spiders name to smiley. Ok so Jake’s been secretly meeting up with Norm to discuss spiders development, he’s old enough to get around and climb into trouble but not old enough to do basically anything else. Or have anyone else really know about him outside the scientists and Jake ofc. Obviously Neytiri heavily pregnant, and pregnancy hormones going crazy can’t stand the secrecy Jake is exhibiting that he normally doesn’t. So she follows him one day and finds out the deep dark secret (not really) about spiders existence. The conversation basically goes like :

Neytiri: Who is this child 😟

Jake: 😨 um- well- this is s-miles-ee (nervous laugh)

Neytiri: Smiley?? 🤨

Jake so scared his ears are ringing, not hearing a thing she’s saying: mhm 🙂‍↕️

Nobody ever corrects her when she refers to him as that bc usually shes already mad so they all just start calling him that too. The End

I wish this scene made it into the final version! It’s such a good example of spider being more navi.

The the way he moves through the forest with such ease despite his small stature In comparison to navi kids his age. The way he is able to not only outmanoeuvre grown adults with years of military training, but adults who are now in avatars and dwarf him in size!

The way he teases them, despite the torture he suffers from them. They way the recoms all care for one another,it’s a marvellous bit of character work and it’s a shame it didn’t make the final bit
