Spooky Month Theories - Tumblr Posts

Thanks, I'm not sure what this info could tell us in terms of theory crafting, but I still feel it's worth keeping in the back of the community's collective mind.

I just realized that we don't know exactly when the secret ending to Tender Treats takes place and that there's no date on Dexter's file from the ARG. Why does this matter? Because there is still a missing person alert for him as we see during the episode. This means one of two things. Either the secret ending and ARG file take place much later than we thought OR they take place shortly after the ending and the mayor is trying to prevent panic by making it seem like they're still looking for Dex

I was literally just thinking about the secret endings earlier, and that's a very smart and interesting observation!

Spooky Month 6 prediction: All That's Sweet Is Not Sugar

Spooky Month 6 Prediction: All That's Sweet Is Not Sugar

The episode will open with a seemingly normal night with the spookeez going to the candy club and Kevin getting annoyed as usual. However as he's about to usher them out they notice that a few people on the street are acting a little funny.

A similar situation happens with John, Jack and Rick at Gonuts, presumably with Rick quitting his latest job at some point.

The two groups try to navigate the situation as the "sugared up" townsfolk grow more dangerous along with shorter scenes of other characters dealing with the "outbreak".

One of the starring characters eventually ends up ingesting something sugar-laced and this results in a dedicated horror scene

The Candy Dealer is revealed to be responsible for the sugar-spiking relatively early into the episode, but it isn't until the last act that we see his real face or discover the true nature of the sugar (possibly an experimental chemical being tested by the dealer who's really a mad scientist).

The thugs who held Kevin at gunpoint in Unwanted Guest will act as the Candy Dealer's enforcers/bodyguards.

In the end the Dealer's own victims swarm him in a blind rage (Adding angst potential if Robert or John end up being involved in his death, that is, if he is related to them).

Personally, I don't think the Candy Dealer is directly working with the cult, but like the manufacturers of the happy fella dolls, is being accounted for by them in their plans (calling back to the OST cover that shows the cultists as the chess masters of all the other characters).

To be frank, I don't think we have enough information to speculate on the secret ending.

That's all I've got ,if you read this far you deserve to see this beautiful image I have dubbed "The Candy Derper", that I accidentally caught while trying to get the image at the top of the post.

I think I saw that, it might've even inspired me to question his current status.

I have a feeling the Rick lovers will lynch me for this but, there's a chance he's in with the cult. Him seeing some "forbidden knowledge" would explain his apathy and him being in a secret society would explain how he hasn't been blacklisted from every service industry position in town yet.

I'm not sure if he's exactly already in the cult, but I made a post a little while ago about how I think that, because of the trend of him quitting and getting a job every episode, that he'll someone end up working for the cult in episode 10

Fair enough. My thought process was based on my episode order theory with Frank and Roy being more co-stars with the boys rather than being the genuine villains of their respective episodes.

Since there's still one or two villains we haven't met yet, there are good odds that episode 6 will introduce them to some extent. We should definitely be on the look out for any red flags with any new characters in the next installment.

I mean there's a chance we do know all the villains we're gonna have though, Frank, Roy, the spider, Skid's dad + cult, Mr Clown, the Candy Dealer, we've got 5 episodes left and lore than enough antagonists to fill each

But yeah it's still good to take note of any new characters, every character that isn't an Easter egg/background character has come back at some point

I've been sitting on this for a while but i think it's time to share it. The only people that Bob willingly leaves alone when they give him candy are the hatzgang. That's a bit weird right? Well, it actually makes a lot more sense that it seems. When the boys hold up the candy bags for Bob to take, we get a brief shot of Bob's eyes squinting and slightly glancing to his right, which is where Roy is standing. My theory is that Bob recognized Roy as Richard and Carmen son and thus left him and his friends alone, content to just take their candy.

The real issue is actually the Happy Fella show, because if it was just dolls I could buy it as a local thing, but the presence of a show implies this at least reaches farther than one relatively small town in Arizona. The cult's operations are (as far as we know) solely localized in Frighden (pardon the use of HCs) so why they would use a seemingly wide spread brand is beyond me. Unless they're trying to reach out farther for some special reason.

Sometimes I wonder about the company producing happy fellas, like, does the cult have someone on the inside to convert the dolls into vessels or is the whole thing in the cult's pocket. assuming it's the same company that makes the show, then it's the latter because HF's bangs are perfectly placed to cover any forehead holes as we see with skull illustration in the ARG journal/tome. Have you ever thought about this? If so, what's your current opinion.

When I first saw the happy Fella dolls in Unwanted Guest I assume that they were made by the cult, I'm not sure honestly, the dolls are a really interesting part of the lore though

Okay so I was thinking about your theory/idea thing for SM6, about one of the characters getting "infected" with the sugar high, and I remembered this one doodle Pelo made after TT released

Okay So I Was Thinking About Your Theory/idea Thing For SM6, About One Of The Characters Getting "infected"

And how Kevin's VA showed a photo of his recordings for Kevin in SM6

Okay So I Was Thinking About Your Theory/idea Thing For SM6, About One Of The Characters Getting "infected"

Note the bit towards the end where it looks like Kevin goes quiet, only for him to get really loud, like he's screaming a lot; it would fit a horror build-up scene following by him actually losing it

I can absolutely see Kevin being the one of the group to eat the spiked sugar and then attack the others

HOLY SHIT, YOU'RE A GENIUS! I always thought of the doodle as a joke but if Kevin is the one to get "sugared up" it would actually make perfect sense.

Initially I thought maybe John would be the one to get contaminated but that was mostly because of the theory that the Candy Dealer is his brother. Kevin is a way more likely candidate.

Come to think of it, there aren't any giant lollipop props in the candy club, so maybe CD spikes the town by starting his own store, which ends up being where Kevin gets contaminated and where he finds the giant lollipop.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

On a side note, I imagined the characters having some change to their eyes as a visual shorthand for them being "infected" with the "sugar high" but couldn't come up with what it would look like. But now, I think they might turn purple, like CD's eyes (I refuse to believe them looking like that is just shading).

I have mini-theory to add here. In the first episode we see "Itsy" looming over Skidad's bones. I think it saw him transfer his soul into the mannequin, saw his original body go limp and thought "Well, not like he needs that anymore" and ate it. I thing the wrapped up body-looking thing is Moloch's original body and the same thing happened to it when he possessed Dexter.

Putting this one in a separate post bc I want to (warning for mildly realistic but still cartoony spiders)

Anyways! @prof-ramses posited a v interesting theory that the giant spider isn't going to be an antagonist per-say, but rather its babies

And that got me thinking, and realizing, that there are a lot of spiders in Lila's house, from the very beginning

There are two little ones in the first ep, one in the stairwell and one in the mousehole next to the stairs, in addition to the large one we've grown accustomed to

(^ brightened for visibility)

Pelo even points out the stairwell spider in his (free to view) Patreon posts on the first episode, while simultaneously completely ignoring the giant spider

Putting This One In A Separate Post Bc I Want To (warning For Mildly Realistic But Still Cartoony Spiders)

And then in Unwanted Guest there's a surprisingly large spider skittering between the floorboards in the pan up to the attic

Putting This One In A Separate Post Bc I Want To (warning For Mildly Realistic But Still Cartoony Spiders)

Along with a smaller but still decently big spider chilling in the attic itself

Putting This One In A Separate Post Bc I Want To (warning For Mildly Realistic But Still Cartoony Spiders)

And a tiny spider got itself stuck on Dexter's mouse trap

Putting This One In A Separate Post Bc I Want To (warning For Mildly Realistic But Still Cartoony Spiders)

Also semi-related there's this big thing wrapped up in one of the webs. I have no idea what it is

Putting This One In A Separate Post Bc I Want To (warning For Mildly Realistic But Still Cartoony Spiders)

Moloch says he was forced to eat rats and spiders while trapped in the attic -- interestingly, we haven't seen any rats in Lila's house, at least as far as I'm aware. Maybe the spiders take care of them as well?

There aren't any new spiders in Deadly Smiles to my knowledge, just a new shot of the big one

Putting This One In A Separate Post Bc I Want To (warning For Mildly Realistic But Still Cartoony Spiders)

There are no spiders at all in The Stars or Tender Treats, presumably because of the short attic time in both (the giant spider was drawn in the TT attic scene, but the camera doesn't pan far enough to show it)

Spiders even briefly appear in the Tender Treats ARG! There are three decently-sized ones next to the family photo

Putting This One In A Separate Post Bc I Want To (warning For Mildly Realistic But Still Cartoony Spiders)

I had to circle them because they're REALLY well hidden, even after brightening the image

Yeah, there are... a LOT more spiders crawling around this house than I was aware of, likely even more since Moloch is no longer there to do pest control

I know it's a Portal reference but references have been relevant to the plot before, just look at the happy fellas, a reference in their first appearance, a key plot point in the next episode.

I'm thinking about the Candy Dealer and "the sugar is a lie" graffiti behind the candy club. Who left that there? One idea I had was that it was a warning from a former employee for future workers and that CD's been trying to sabotage the store for Eyes knows how long. Another thought was that the dealer himself is a bitter former employee of the candy club, maybe not even the one Kevin works at, just the brand in general. After all his goons are Mexican and so is the candy club as a company.

I mean it's supposed to be a Portal reference but it could be something like that aswell

Yeah, my thoughts kind of trailed of towards the end, but the main point was that it seems that the Candy Dealer's beef with the candy club goes back a long time.

Just had a cursed(tm) idea for the hatzgang episode

So several ideas I've had recently have combined to create a cursed prediction megazord.

Skid and Pump, maybe with Susie's help, do some ritual or something to summon skid's grandma, but the spell effect is super specifically worded like "all those with youth will see there departed kin" or some shit like that. And all that results in (he who belongs in a wood chipper) being summoned and going after Roy :(

Just to clarify, I don't think this will happen, I just thought of it decided that i can't suffer alone.

On a completely unrelated note, I haven't been getting much sleep lately, can you tell?

Oh, the devil idea is so smart, I just thought he was Gregor because he's the only old man Pelo hasn't eliminated yet.

Lowkey I Kinda Got Attached To This Guy Being A Younger Gregor Because There's So Much Potential??

Lowkey I kinda got attached to this guy being a younger Gregor because there's so much potential??

Like this guy was friends with Bob. Good friends, I'm assuming, given Bob's persona of a friendly and kindhearted restaurant owner

Father Gregor is a religious fundie who treats Halloween like devil worship. Bob's entire shtick was that he dressed up as a demon and killed people on Halloween.

Them being connected, hell Bob being the entire reason why Gregor is like this in the present, would be so cool

For the ask game, 5 with Skid's dad

I know a lot of people feel this theory is kind of gross, but I can't in good faith say he isn't over a 100 years old, probably one of the town's founders. Also the wooden figure we seem him carving in that one photo is going to be relevant.

Also, I knew you'd send the first ask, bestie :D

In my eyes (pardon the pun) the cult always saw them as, for lack of a better term, useful idiots.

They were sent to Lila's house (originally by the uncle), probably to steal cult shit from the attic. They escaped at the same time as Bob to act as distractions. It's irrelevant as to if they actually know this or not, because that's how the cult is using them.

Something interesting I just noticed is that the skull "vessel" illustration in the book has a hole that's the same diamond shape as the gems in the cult necklaces. In other words, the necklaces themselves might be the same type of vessel as the skull and probably happy fellas.

The "Remember, Lila" box and it's implications.

The "Remember, Lila" Box And It's Implications.

So. let's look this thing over, shall we?

The top shelf doesn't really tell us much new, we have a photo with Skidad's face torn off and one where his face is scribbled out, though their may be a deeper meaning to the full family photo being the one labeled "You Are Everything"

The second and fourth shelf are just boxes and what appear to be 2 photos turned away from the camera. There may be something to that, but probably not.

The middle shelf has the most obviously cult-adjacent contents. A cult robe, or at least the mask/hood, a necklace which is curiously missing it's gem and what appears to be one of the banners hung up in the mansion with a strange gold line going down it.

And finally, the box labeled "Remember, Lila" at the very bottom. This to me strongly suggest that Lila and/or her husband were aware Lila might, likely due to something supernatural, lose her memory of something(s) important.

This is where my personal theory comes in: Lila was knowingly and actively involved in the cult before doing something, intentionally or not, that blocked her memories of the cult, it's members (hence her shock at seeing Bob in the photo), it's methods and goals. The box and it's contents acting as a provision in case Lila would ever want to remember.

Perhaps the inability to repress the memories pertaining to her husband's involvement lead to her removing his face from all the photos.

I look forward to at least a third of this being proven wrong in December. :)

OH, I never thought about that before! I think both theories are equally plausible right now, but I'm excited to see if this goes anywhere in future episodes.

Where is Dexter's backpack?

Something I think is interesting that nobody ever talks about is that Dexter's backpack kinda... disappears between episodes, something that Dexter even highlights in his toy chest notes

Where Is Dexter's Backpack?

(Him putting his backpack at higher propriety than his own body is also interesting, but not the point)

Now I imagine most people went "oh, Lila got rid of it", but that isn't in character for Lila: she keeps things around, even if they're broken or have bad memories attached. Hell, she even kept Dexter's rat trap and the melted remains of the Happy Fella, so there's no way she would get rid of his backpack

Where Is Dexter's Backpack?

So if it wasn't Lila, where did it go?

I have two ideas:

Idea 1 is that in between Moloch possessing Dexter and Dexter searching the house, the giant spider took the bag and webbed it up, like with that... thing in a web behind Dexter in Unwanted Guest

Idea 2 is that the backpack was taken by whoever took Dexter's body and gave it to Patty, giving the backpack to either her or John and Jack... though this one would bring the further question of, why is Dexter labeled "missing" if Patty has his body and the cops have his backpack?

So, I'm not a patron but the preview for the storyboards of SM6 has the boys talking to Gregor in what looks like a trashed room, which actually ties in fairly well to my idea about the candy dealer getting most of the town high on "sugar" and various characters hiding out at various places.

Agree with basically all of this, except the cult has been using Eyes way longer than the boys have been alive, I say using since I think Eyes doesn't know about or at least doesn't condone of the pendants and what the pendants are being used for.

My theory as to why Skid wasn't affected is that he was actually exposed to Eyes as a baby, so the initial "Eyes contact high" did happen, just before he had the capacity to form a memory of it happening.

I think the chess cover for the physical OST is a hint that we're making Eyes out to be more villainous than they are. For example, when someone's eyes glow seafoam green they're not possessed by Eyes, but rather using their energy/power/blessing.

This would explain why both Pump's eyes and Bob's eyes glow towards the end of TT, one is tapping into magically granted knowledge and the other is reanimating himself.

If this is correct, then Kevin and the Hatzgang might also have some dormant supernatural powers, which would be fucking epic!

I think I made a post a little while ago about that, Eyes being a chess piece while the cult are the ones looking over everything makes me think that, with rich families like Roy's and powerful people like Mayor Evermore being part of it, the Cult is more in control of the town than we ever would've thought

I've never seen Eyes as dangerous or an intentuonally malicious villain, I think of it more as like a huge octopus dog that accidentally brought the attention of a powerful cult to it after it saved the son of its previous owner and his friend from a creepy pedo

I've always thought of Eyes having been possessing people, but after what happened in TT (because I doubt Eyes would let someone go after Skid and Pump), that he more grants them heightened mental and physical strength

Oh and also, in pretty sure Bob survived for long because of the pendant he had in his chesr that was shown in the true ending, the ones that the cultists wear, and he only died because Jack cracked the pendant after he had ran Bob over enough times with the car

Also yeah, I have been waiting for the Hatzgang and Kevin to be shown having green eyes, because they saw Eyes aswell, I want Kevin to get green Eyes and go full on Beast Mode to protect the kids

Aka, cult is in control of a lotta inner workings of the town, Eyes can grant immortality to people and the cult is seeking immortality (implied by that one book in the ARG), Skid's dad is implied to have adopted it in some doodles, which may be the reason Skid's got some literal plot armour against it, Bob was able to survive being hit like 5 times with a car because he had a cult necklace, and I want Kevin and the Hatzgang to murder someone
