Sulejman Imanović was 15 years old during the outbreak of the Bosnian War in 1992, living with his mother and father, Adela and Fahrudin Imanović, his older brother, Hamza Imanović, and his younger brother, Vedad Imamović. They lived in Zenica for the duration of the war, 1992-95. His father Fahrudin worked in steel manufacturing, the city’s industrial staple, but lost his job once manufacturing operations shut down during the war. Zenica suffered from massive unemployment. In the beginning half of the war, when Zenica was isolated from the rest of the world for over a year due to the blockade. Both Fahrudin and his son Hamza suffered from hemochromatosis, and as the blockade drew on, they both grew weaker. With hospitals overwhelmed and famine raging, Hamza would succumb to the disease.
Once the war had ended in 1995, Sulejman was 18 years old, finished with primary schooling, and determined to make a better life for his family. He immediately joined his father into the workforce, working in the same factory as him. Fahrudin would begin to grow weaker, and enter early retirement. With the stagnant economy of postwar Bosnia, he determined that their best chance at a more prosperous life was to leave. After years of taking up odd jobs and factory work and saving whatever money he could, he would immigrate his family to the United States in 2009. They had settled on the West Coast.
His younger brother Vedad didn’t want to carry the same massive responsibilities Sulejman did in taking care of their parents, and knew that Sulejman would take on the brunt of the work. Wanting a separate and new life from his family, he took advantage of his older brothers sense of duty, and left their parents’ care entirely in Sulejman’s hands. Sulejman began work at a security night shift job where he met Alexander Markazi, a slightly younger man with similar experiences to his, whom he took a liking to.

miscellaneus drawings from the past month, first is the arc where Satomi goes to Hawai'i to have a wedding ceremony DESPITE being already married for a few years just to show up his family members. Second two are emo Mother's Day oc drawings, and last pic is an idea I threw around about Sasha and Sulejman originally being roommates and Sulejman knowing him when he was a fast food manager.

what do your ocs keep in their pockets/ purse?
Sasha has lesbian stolen valor and wears a carabiner with his keys, keeps his phone, wallet, lighter and cigarettes in his pockets
Satomi wears pants or skirts with pockets about 2/3rds of the time but keeps wallet, phone, headphones, and some food like crackers in their purse
Anahita keeps her phone, chain wallet, and dab pen in her pockets
Sulejman is the same deal as Sasha, Mirza might take a book with him in public, Soraya has a purse full of makeup and loose change
