I figure i should do some kinda info/about me thing so here ya go peeps :)
As my name suggests, im Basil. A certified lazy artist who sometimes draws stuff and sometimes writes silly little fics of the funny guys rattling in my brain like tictacs.

As of late i'm deep in the trenches of the Devil May Cry fandom, these funny little white haired devil men have my heart so expect a lot of that. Fandoms will be updated in my little bio at the top of my page as they change.
Currently im working on my own DMC OC; Zephyr, a 2,000 year old demon who looks like a 10 year old child lol, and his companion Fia. All posts about him will be tagged with:

ZEPHYR + FIA
My DMC OC :], some more info about him below:
Zephyr is a full blooded demon, from way back when the human world and demon world were still connected. Making him about 2,000 ish years old, even if his human form appears so young (about 8-10 years old)
He lives on his own in a quaint little port town near Fortuna, the residents of which know he's a demon and dont mind all that much. They've lived with him for so long that they're just used to the young demon boy.
The red stuff is his companion, Fia. She is essentially Zephyr's blood taking the form of semi-solid red smoke, which he uses to attack through a small dagger. Fia can talk to him whenever she's "active".
The dagger he's holding is a devil-arm called Custos, i have some info about it that ill post later.
When it comes to his relationship with the main DMC cast, i havent fully fleshed everything out yet. Currently ive written a fic for his introduction to Nero and one for Vergil, which you can read here. More fics will be written and added at some point.
8 but let me explain (let me infodump)
Zephyr, on his own, isn't powerful at all. Aside from his "DT" transformation which is really just him going apeshit with the help of his devil-arm, he doesnt actually weild any *usable* demonic power of his own. Not any more at least.
He gets his power from his devil-arm / companion, Fia. The best way to describe Fia is that she's a visualization of pure demonic energy, which Zephyr controls through his devil arm. (She is sentient and can talk to Zephyr ill probably explain her in a different post)
Now on the other hand, if he had the power of Fia, all the bosses he kills in his storyline, and his original devil form before he was exiled from the underworld??? A lot more powerful to say the least. Maybe not on the level of Mundus, but up there.
A hybrid of some kind, with power comparable to (if not equal to) that of the main cast.
A full-blooded human who wields demonic magic of some kind.
An ordinary human who hunts devils with conventional weaponry.
An ordinary human who aids devil hunters in a non-combative way.
An ordinary human with a mundane job who associates with the main cast in some other context.
A demon that's appeared in the games as a basic enemy, but with a unique personality.
An original demon, as powerful as an early-to-mid game boss.
An original demon, as powerful as a late game boss (Mundus, Argosax, etc.).

ughhh i wanna yap about Zephyr and Fia but i need pictures to go with it because i know if i explain it with only words it will make no sense (trust me i already tried in the a/n of a fic on ao3 once at like 2am it did not go well)

So y’all know the classic edge trope of “my blade cannot be sheathed until it has tasted blood”? What if a magic sword that has that requirement, except it’s sort of inverted. A sword that, instead of being inhabited by an evil spirit which once awakened cannot be lulled back to sleep except by blood sacrifice, was inhabited by a benevolent spirit who would not allow the sword to be drawn unless bloodshed were the only possible solution. A sword whose power could never be misused because it would only allow itself to be used in situations where it was justified. What about a Paladin who spends their entire journey fighting with a sheathed sword, incapacitating but never killing or maiming. The party believes that the Paladin has taken an oath of no killing, until they face the big villain. And it is in that moment, and that moment alone, that the sword will allow itself to be drawn.

I am actually quite happy with how this piece turned out, especially that stained glass effect. I also haven't drawn anything using proper lineart in a while, it was a nice change although it was tempting to just paint over everything lmao. I have Zephyr's ref sheet but i wanna draw another thingy for it to post. I also have his DT form drawn up to share too at some point. For now, enjoy :]

When i saw @necrokity 's OC Delilah i couldn't help but draw this piece with my darling Zephyr lol. This is definitely a lot sketchier than any of my other pieces ive posted here so i hope thats okay, otherwise i hope you like this :>> <3
Ive been sorting through some Zephyr lore and trying to figure out his backstory... i think i have it down, might do a comic about it or maybe just an illustration and rant in the tags lmao
i know this is about canon-dmc but it reminded me a lot of Zephyr, so im going to yap about him now :3
Zephyr is a full blooded demon, he was created by Mundus to act as a servant of the demon king. He will never 100% experience humanity and/or human emotions, but that doesnt mean he wont try.
Hes lived in the human world for a good 2,000+ years after all, and has had plenty of time to figure stuff out. Their languages, writing and reading, various cultures, etc. Both to blend in easier and not stand out so much, keeping the fact that he's a demon a little less obvious to the general public, and also, genuine curiosity for how humans behave and live.
And mixed into all of that, he's had to learn how to interpret, understand, and even feel human emotion for himself (again, to blend in.) Yet, he'll never truly experience that for himself. Or at least he thinks he wont.
He's convinced himself that whenever he feels human emotion, its him "faking it to seem more human and blend in" because thats just what he's been doing for so long. But at what point does it stop being a subconscious action and instead turns into a genuine reaction to something?
He'll grow giddy if he ever finds a new book he's never read before. He falls into bouts of depression whenever any of his friends pass away from old age, while he remains unaged in the slightest. He'll become irritated and even angry if something/someone leaves his house in a mess. Among other things.
He is a demon, a full blooded creation of the demon king himself. Demons arent generally known for their humanity. But maybe, with enough effort and time, one can learn to be human.. or at least, human enough to pass.
I feel like demons are actually quite good at understanding human emotion if they care to do so, whether out of genuine care, simple curiosity, or maliciousness.
