The owners of more than a hundred boats have already given in their names as wishing to follow him to the grave.
This is such an incredibly creepy sentence when you bear in mind that following someone to the grave often means dying as well, as in "she died and a year later her widower followed her to the grave".
This man was killed - directly or indirectly - by Dracula, who is now at loose in this unsuspecting lovely town, and all these people are going to follow him to the grave.
Just watched Voyage of the Last Demeter it was fine not bad but not good either it was just kinda boring. They were trying to take inspiration from Alien but didn't understand what made Alien scary such as not showing the monster in the beginning, a slow build and isolation. I think Dracula was shown to quickly and I think we should have only saw him at the end I also think all the characters should have been killed of which sure would have been a disappointing ending but would have been more faithful to the book. Also the vampire lore was out of wack why did people start turning into vampires its pretty much established as a trope that you become a vampire by drinking vampires blood so I don't why people just started turning into vampires.
The sad part of the poor captain’s determination to make it to England is that, in a way, it would be better if he didn’t. Because he’s bringing a vampire to a place with a lot more prey than one ship can provide.
And he doesn’t know that! He has no idea what’s killing his men, or that it would be a bad idea to let it get on shore. The captain is doing his very best to be brave and honorable in a terrifying situation, and that’s part of why it’s so tragic.

Okay, I didn't really feel the need to dwell on how nonchalant the Captain seemed about missing men (he seemed a man of few words). But Mr. Verbose McNewspaperman just shrugs it off, too! Oh, nothing to report here except a few missing crew members nbd
