The Immortal - Tumblr Posts
People are discussing Kate and The Immortal's relationship, which is fantastic, but I think people miss the point a little.
The Immortal might be an old geezer, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be allowed to have a relationship.
The problem is that he is a much older adult dating someone who just turned legal (if she is 18+), which holds a much bigger power imbalance, not helping with the fact that he is her superior.
The Immortal could have chosen to go out and date a woman in her mid to late 20s or 30s, or someone with more life experience than Kate.
Yet, he chose someone whose only friend group, by the looks of it, is superheroes her own age, one of them even being an ex who is a dick.
Now, let's talk about how it has been shown in the show.
The show clearly shows Kate feeling comforted by The Immortal because he understands her trauma and experience with dying over and over again.
But also because he is much older and, therefore, more mature than her friends, and that is attractive to a lot of young people.
In the bathroom scene, where we see the relationship, Kate is the only one defending the relationship, and The Immortal just kinda stands there, not looking like he cares.
I have not read the comic, but this is my interpretation of the 'relationship.
