some silly little headcanons i have specifically for my au of the outsiders that i felt the need to write down all in one place.
after their parents died, darry made a deal with the state that he could keep his brothers as long as they're able to support themselves
so darry got three jobs, roofer, contractor, and uh...yk what.
two-bit who was almost 18 started working at a grocery store cause i said so
dally managed to get a job as a bartender at bucks
and ofc soda and steve work at the dx
johnny and pony don't have jobs yet cause the others don't want them to because they're "too young"
(when really they're 14 and 15 and are in fact old enough)
when everyone else is at work, johnny and pony stay home and watch movies. like binge watch.
they once thought they could handle horror movies.
they couldnt.
they were latching on to darry when he got home.
dinner at their house is chaotic.
they're yapping over each other and darry's trying to get them to settle down so that people don't report a noise complaint on them.
how to bribe the curtises?
not money.
not gold.
these big backs only listen when there's dessert involved.
even after a 12 course meal, if they're hungry in the middle of the night and sneak out to the kitchen, there will most likely already be someone there
steve and soda used to share a room.
keyword: used to
they would stay up all night giggling and shi
same thing with pony and johnny.
so steve and pony swapped rooms.
darry regrets it cause now soda and pony cant stop giggling, but he can't stop it so he just gave up
so therefore dally and two bit share a room.
dally isn't thrilled
two bit yaps
dally needs sleep or he'll be grumpy in the morning
but two-bit contradicts him saying that dally is gonna be grumpy either way.
and then dally comes at him about still living in the house as an adult and then teases him for his lack of ability to pull
dally would try to find a way to get darry to let him sleep in his room if darry weren't such a heavy snorer
(dally snores too)
(but he refuses to accept it)
darrys the type to need his morning coffee before speaking to anyone
dal just doesnt want to speak to anyone
ponys a night owl.
they'll tell him to go to sleep and pony will be like "just one more chapter"
but he keeps reading and suddenly the birds are chirping
johnny tried to protest this once back when they shared a room
to say he'll stay awake too unless pony goes to sleep
he fails and ends up falling asleep.
pony gives him a pat on the head and continues to stay awake until the sun shined through the window.
pony then proceeds to sleep the day away

So the Hybrid idea is shelved, in favor of an apocalypse oneshot series.
The Outsider's Shapeshifting AU
What would you all see the Curtis gang as if they could shapeshift into animals? I have some lore to my little au already built up, but I'm having trouble deciding on what animals they can turn into [everyone can turn into one (1) animal].
If you see I've assigned someone an animal you don't agree with, feel free to tell me! I'm open to suggestions for all the characters! Also, feel free to suggest any animals you want, so long as they are land or flight animals.
(I keep wanting to put 'deer' next to Pony, so nothing is too outrageous!)

A '(?)' means I am unsure about if the animal chosen fits the character. I would like to choose an animal for everyone that fits the character but also adds to it. And empty means I have no clue on what animal to 'assign' them.
And for reference, I am going based off of the Book/Movie Characters as I have not seen the 'show' or the Musical, I also have not read 'That Was Then, This is Now'! I don't know the other Socs or greasers that some people talk about.
I'm also using headcanons, like I have the lists in 'age order', from both canon and how I perceive them, since we don't know a lot of characters birthdays
If anyone wants some of my current world building/lore:
Shapeshifters AU, maybe an Outsiders Fic, where everyone can ‘come into’ their animal that they can shapeshift into once they reach a certain age. Love the idea that certain circumstances would change when or how you shapeshift for the first time.
Example, Johnny, he's 16 and only shapeshifted (he's a cat) because he felt safe at the Curtis house.
Well fed, loved, cared for children typically get their animal at 10, 12 at the latest if they are late bloomers. So West side kids typically get their animal at 10-12 years of age. East side kids are all between the ages of 13-18 (18 being the absolute last chance you have to get your animals, once you reach 19, you are considered 'defective')
Most siblings are typically the animal, but obviously they all look different. Most people take after their parents, some maybe a grandparent or great grandparent. Rarely do they become an animal not already in the direct family tree (i.e. from great-great grandparent to great grandparent, to grandparent, to parent, to child)
Feel free to ask questions, whether in comments or in the asks box! I'm 100 percent open to conversation and debate and talking with people! (I don't have many outsiders friends).
Headcannons: Cuddling With Them.
Darry:
-Darry always loves cuddling in his chair.
-Especially right after he gets home from work.
-You’ll just sit in his lap and play with his hair while he reads the paper.
-And you’ll kiss his cheek and neck softly.
Sodapop:
-His favorite time to cuddle with you is in the morning.
-He loves when the sun is just rising and is keeping the room warm.
-He loves to face you and hold your hand while your legs are tangled together under the covers.
-Your faces will be close to each other.
-And you’ll exchange gentle sleepy kisses with each other.
Ponyboy:
-Ponyboy loves to cuddle with you on the couch.
-He likes when you sit with your legs over his lap.
-He likes to run his hands up and down your legs.
-You wrap your warms around his neck.
-And rest your head on his shoulder.
-Usually there’s a blanket covering you two.
-And you you two will have conversations in soft whispering tones to each other.
Two-Bit:
-Two-Bit is a huge cuddler.
-He doesn’t care where or when just as long as he’s holding onto you.
-He can be very clingy.
-He really likes when you lay on your stomach with your head turned to face him.
-And he’ll be propped up on one arm looking down at you.
-While he gently runs his fingers over your back.
-When it tickles you and you smile or laugh he grins and leans down to kiss you.
Dally:
-Dally pretends like he hates cuddling.
-He’ll whine at you to get off of him for the first few minutes.
-But you just like to lay on top of him.
-He’s usually shirtless and you like how warm he is.
-You’ll play with his hair.
-And kiss him on his lips, cheeks, chest, and pretty much anywhere you can reach.
-He’ll eventually stop complaining.
-And he’ll wrap his arms around your waist.
-Sometimes he’ll have one hand running through your hair.

-He’ll bring a blanket.

⌗ 🕯️ notes !𖥔༌ ᰷⋆ ♱ . First time making a little fic thingy, sfw, fluff! and all that ooey gooey jazz.
◜ ✶ THE moon gleamed and smiled in the sky, a soft white dot of paint on an otherwise noire canvas. Every now and then a soft, smaller white light would twinkle, but never fully rivaling it's larger counterpart.
There you lay, the soft cool breeze skipping across your skin ever so slightly, with Johnny, just as soft, by your side. You turn to him, a glint in your alluring eyes, beckoning for attention.
"You ever think we're like that Johnnycakes, you know, the stars and such?" You glance up at the dancing lights once more for a second before returning your gaze to him.
"Like... like, small and bright?" He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion for a moment before a chuckle slipped out. A smile sprouted on your face, he could be so oblivious at times, as smart as he was.
But you'd be lying if you said you didn't love it, besides, the sappy grin that sat on your face would let anybody know it.
You take strands of his hair into your hands gingerly, gripping them almost absent-mindedly. "Maybe, but you know what I mean, like beautiful... or whatever." Sometimes you were too cheesy, even for yourself.
The greased up strands begin to lap over themselves as your nimble fingers braid. "Yeah, you are, at least." He shrugs, your point of view seeming to be lost on him.
"You are too, Johnnycakes, I do remember saying the word 'we'." You lean up a bit as you plant a kiss on his scar embellished cheek. He rarely thought he was good enough, he barely did right now, but he tried to believe in what you believed in. And you believed in him.
"Yeah," he paused, it dawning on him, "what're you doin' back there anyhow?" The young greaser queried as he played with the end of his jacket.
"Just some braids, I was bored." You tilt your head to the side, a slight pep in your voice as if it was nothing. He nodded without another word and you did the same.
Finally, you lean back with a humorous smile, swallowing laughs and snorts. "Thoughts?" You chime, seeming to alert Johnny. "Oh, um.. huh?" He sits up. "The braids, Johnnycakes."
At your words, his hands reach back for behind his head, his fingers finally landing on the small four braids. You nod at him with a smile and a small grin tugs at his mouth.
"Real tuff." He chortles as he rolls his eyes, sarcasm lacing his voice. "You sure are." You combat playfully before you rest your arm and head on his shoulder.
You both look up at the sky again and sure enough, the moon was still smiling, maybe even a bit brighter now.

౨ৎ I hate when people "I'm not a violent dog, I don't know why I bite" Dally.
Like trust, he knows why and actively loves it. He wanted his criminal record to be in that newspaper.
It's okay to view characters as the violent, morally screwed people they are and still enjoy the nuance, development and writing of that character. ౨ৎ
