can we all keep it together and promise that we're not going to go back to the "i love these dumpster fire books" mindset with aftg and with tsc when tsc comes out? i'm tired of y'all pretending the writing isn't good and like the character arcs and plot and subplots are bad when they're actually beautifully structured and they deserve our attention and our praise without a "but it's sooooo bad haha" being added to everything. these books are good. and if you can't admit to yourself that you're reading them because you like them and they're good then maybe you aren't ready to pick up the story that we've been waiting for for years.

There is something we need to address before The Sunshine Court drops in a few days, and that is the reality that at least 70% of whom Jean and Jeremy are as characters it is based purely on fanon from the past decade. Their canon appearances are limited in the trilogy, and their descriptions are superficial because Neil is not the best when talking about something that isn’t Exy or Andrew.
The reason this is important to mention is because the new book may change a lot about how we view them or the idea we had of them, and I have noticed a lot of the people in this fandom don’t like their fanon contradicted. Best example is how Nora explained Thea character and story and still people decided to ignore it and continue their fanon that Thea is an awful person.
Basically, what I am trying to say is leave your toxicity behind for this new book. It is okay if you don’t like it or didn’t enjoy it, but don’t come at others for not agreeing with you. Especially, don’t attack the author just because she didn’t follow 10 years of headcanons about a character. Just be open to the idea that the canon can and will differ from your own expectations.
Finding out The Sunshine Court is not the price of regular just released non KU books has made my day! I’m coming for your story Jean!

THIS!!! I don’t get where people are seeing that Neil was angry that Jean compared Grayson to Drake it literally says “out of everyone and anyone you could have compared him to” Neil said quieter than Jean had ever heard him, “you chose Drake.”
HOW does that read as Neil is angry at Jean? He understands immediately what it means for Grayson to be compared to Drake.
seeing people on tiktok freak out about jean comparing grayson to drake and saying shit like “i can’t believe jean would make that comparison” bruh. what. jean compared grayson to drake because they are both rapists and jean wasn’t able to bring himself to say it out loud. he was saying the only thing he could bring himself to say in order to make neil understand. and neil DID understand! i personally think neil saying the whole “you had to say his name” thing (i don’t remember the exact thing he said) was more shock on his part, not implying that jean was out of line in saying it

I think Wymack's heart probably broke as he kept watch over a sleeping Jean and saw how terrorized Jean was by nightmares.
In those moments, he probably had the realization that Jean could never be one of his Foxes because the fight had been viciously carved out of Jean.
Wymack knows he's able to help them as long as there's some fight left, but Jean was past that point. Jean couldn't even allow himself to feel his anger; he needed to go someplace that would heal him enough that he could start to stand on his own again or, barring that, someplace that would hold him up if he was no longer able to stand.

one thing about me is that i will NEVER shit on nora's writing. like everyone bitching and moaning abt aftg having bad writing shut the fuck upppp take ur hater agenda elsewhere bc all i had to do was read everything post ch 11 of trk and that's what really cemented it for me. aftg's writing style may be unconventional (and i do fully believe this is bc of neil's narration NOT nora's writing go read the ec and tsc) but everything post ch 11 of trk is written SO well like the emotions are all so raw and real and it's such a good portrayal of grief and guilt and anger all from the pov of a slightly emotionally unavailable traumatised kid (neil IS still a kid he's fucking eighteen years old) who doesn't know how to process what he's just seen and been involved in. like the conversation between andrew and neil in ch 12 hurt me on so many levels. the "i told you once before didn't i? i don't feel anything." "anymore" was my last straw. anyway STOP dragging nora's writing just because it isn't "conventional" just read tsc she writes emotions and different characters with so much depth and if u don't like neil's narration just read jean's it is NOT the writing style. i DIGRESS.

Haven't read the sunshine court yet because, 1. I'm becoming illiterate and have only listened to audiobooks since last year, and 2. I lowkey don't fuck with jeanxjeremy in theory and I don't know how that's gonna turn out (is it even happening?? I know nothing) 😭
