Listen, I love Grace and think that it's messed up that the fandom villainizes her so much. She had basically 0 choices in her life, she was physically and mentally abused, she grew up horribly isolated except for her abusive mother and a dead brother who, upon her helping resurrecting him, rejected her and posited that they should ship her off to the countryside for more isolation. It's incredibly messed up, she asked for none of it, and she's been violated over and over again. She had a horrific power forced on her in a forest when she was like 10. It's fucked up. Give her some grace. No pun intended.

However.

That being said, I hate how the fandom acts as though James and his loved ones (specifically Cordelia, Matthew, and Thomas) need to forgive her immediately or even ever. She sexually assaulted three people. Literally. It was that bad. And she mind-controlled James for years, and stole a lot of his life and free will. It would in fact be extremely weird and messed up if everyone forgot about that instantly. As the reader, we should see and understand that Tatiana and Belial are responsible and abused Grace. But as a human being who has had a lot of his life stolen and had his feelings muted for years, James is in fact not obligated to forgive her for her direct role in this. None who love him are.

These things need to coexist before this fandom can have any productive discussion on Grace.
