According to the Wikipedia, this is the proposed definition of a sexual threesome:

According To The Wikipedia, This Is The Proposed Definition Of A Sexual Threesome:

If you refer to "people" as their consciences rather than any physical body, saying that three people are present during this sexual interaction would be correct - the problem lies with "at least one engages in physical sexual behaviour with both the other individuals". Al-An, as far as canon is concerned, cannot physically interact with Robin while residing in her cerebral cortex, and Robin cannot touch Al-An, either.

This means that, for the last part of the definition to be fulfilled and for it to be considered a threesome, it is you/the third person that needs to be able to initiate a "physical sexual encounter" with both Al-An and Robin. The latter is easy to achieve, as it would be done with her body, but the former is subjective. Does Al-An consider themselves as sharing a body with Robin (and therefore considers her body as their "corporeal presence") , or do they consider themselves as merely a bystander hitchhiking a ride in her body? Would Al-An consider themselves to be "participating" when Robin has a sexual encounter? Would they even be able to derive sensation or pleasure from stimulation despite not being in control of the body they reside in? None of these are answered in-game.

I'd argue that it depends on whether Al-An both considers Robin and them to be "sharing a body" in any capacity, and if they also consider any action that she does as actions they also participate in doing. A definitive answer cannot be made from canon alone, you just gotta fill in the gaps and decide from there 😭😭😭

Edit: I forgot to talk about whether fucking a networked architect would be considered a record-breaking orgy. Architects shift and change vessels over time, and mark it as a sign of prestige - but if they consider themselves to all be one collective entity, why does showing off your prestige matter? Why can only those with "enough seniority" keep a Torloque despite them all having access to the same information and, again, consider themselves all as one being? The math isn't mathing. Why can a networked architect have individuality despite Al-An saying otherwise? The status of whether every architect body belongs to every architect is unclear, and that's why the answer to the second bit is also unclear πŸ’€

hypothetically, if you were to have sex with robin ayou while alan is in her head, would it be considered regular sex or a threesome? while on this topic, would having sex with an architect that’s connected to the network be the largest orgy of your life?
