THIS IS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT - Tumblr Posts
5 headcanons for Cor as a Coeurl? Or if not that, maybe tbe heart of thunder with Baby prompto?
Cor as a coeurl. You mean like that one AU we've been nattering on about to each other?
Very well. :D
1) There are two different Clans of coeurl selkies on Eos. One based on Galahd, the other in Lucis. Cor belongs to the selkie Clan in Lucis.
The two Clans are only peripherally aware of each other. Like, They send messages to each other when they feel like it. But they very much behave like territorial cats towards each other. Don't bother us and we won't bother you.
Which means the Lucian selkie Clan (which consists mostly of black coeurls) thinks the one on Galahd is dead after Niflheim's conquest becomes known.
2) The Lucian selkie Clan likes to keep to themselves and mostly away from humans, but they know it’s impossible to be entirely isolated these days, so they have outposts where a selected few pose as humans for a certain amount of time.
There are inns all over Lucis that are owned by the Clan. They are very good places to gather intel.
Cor however, was not one of the chosen few. He snuck out one day when he was a teen (like teens were prone to do) and instead of coming back, got tangled up in a mess that got him stuck as part of King Mors’ bodyguard detail.
The Lucian coeurl selkies hate Cor for the security risk he is posing.
3) Regis & co find out about Cor being a coeurl selkie entirely by accident during their roadtrip.
We haven’t really talked about that yet, right Jazz? Trying to remember, but I think we didn’t. So, here’s what I think (feel free to change/add on):
The bros 1.0 decide to stop at a Clan owned inn. The current caretaker really doesn’t want Cor there and the others notice the antipathy. They try to talk with Cor about it, who refuses to talk about it.
Then during the night Clarus notices Cor leaving and follows. He hears Cor and the inn’s caretaker argue. During said argument Clarus hears that Cor has now been officially been banished from the Clan for daring to consort with humans like that. He should be lucky they didn’t take his coat.
Cor is deeply shaken by this. He is confronted by the other four about this after they left the inn the next day.
Cor’s more cat-like behavious make a lot more sense now.
4) Cor as a coeurl is mostly solid black. Though when the light hits his fur right dark brown spots become visible. From snout to tail tip Cor’s coeurl form is nearly six metres long, which makes him come out on the larger side, but his muscles are sleek and more build for speed than strength.
While human his coat takes the form of a military style jacket. It’s lucky that the Lucian military uniform is mostly black, right?
5) After Regis & co learn about Cor being a selkie, he gets assigned a lot of solo missions. People think it’s because Cor isn’t a good team player, but it’s actually so Cor can take on his other form more.
Being in his coeurl form more helps Cor keep his moods on a more even keel. Regis and Clarus think that his stunt at Taelpar Crag was the result of not transforming often enough.
So Cor ‘maturing’ out of his recklessness is more that he finally has a proper outlet. Not that most people know that.
