Meet Kashaya Allen, my model for Sims’ Next Top Model challenge by @mamalovesnuts.

Backstory: Kashaya is part of the Dry Creek Rancheria tribe of Pomo Indians in Northern California.  She grew up in a close-knit family and community.  She did well in school, but was happiest when she was pursuing creative outlets – designing and sewing clothes, jewelry making, and dancing. She savored the pages of fashion magazines – dreaming about the glamour, designer clothes, and exotic locations, but was frustrated that she never saw herself reflected in the images.  

After graduating from high school, Kashaya attended the Fashion Institute, which is where she was discovered by a model scout while walking in a friend’s runway show.  She decided to give modeling a try – she thought she’d get a foot in the fashion industry door and perhaps be able to travel the world.  At first she was told over and over that her look would never work, that she was too exotic, or that she was not what the client wanted.  But slowly she started picking up work and now, a few years later and living in the big city, she is signed with her dream agency, Simhelmina Models.

Kashaya is also head designer for her fashion company, Mata, which blends tailored silhouettes with cultural influences by integrating fabrics, weaving, and beading from local craftspeople into the designs. While Kashaya has had success in the fashion industry, she feels that there is still room for growth.  Her concern is that the fashion industry needs more cultural representation and less appropriation.  

Opinions on SNTM competition: Kashaya hopes that winning the prestigious Sims’ Next Top Model competition will bring mainstream success so she can use her fame to create change.  Kashaya dreams of a day when little girls like her see themselves regularly represented in the media and in the pages of glossy magazines.

Yellow may not be your color, but you’re rocking it anyways Kashaya!  Side note though: legs together... you’re showing everyone your (non-existent) sim parts.

Neo: Kashaya, you’re looking really stiff out there. What are you going for?

Kashaya: I don’t want to look like a sorority girl taking selfies. 

Neo: You can look happy without looking like a sorority girl. Loosen up a bit.

Kashaya: Beverly won’t stop complaining about her color, but I have to work with this stupid yellow hair that looks ridiculous on me. 

Xiamara: Well, what can you do? Maybe she’ll take terrible photos and you can at least make it through to next week. There’s still plenty of time to stay in the middle of the pack.

Kashaya: You think I’m in the middle of the pack??

Xiamara: …. noooo…..

Kashaya Allen has recovered from being the first eliminated from @mamalovesnuts‘ Sims Next Top Model challenge (yellow really is the bane of her existence).  She quickly booked a photo shoot with Ravasheen magazine and treated herself to an extended stay in Oasis Springs. 

Kashaya: Ah... the fresh air, the warm sun on my skin, and only the gentle sound of the creek...maybe I should make this vacation permanent.

Kashaya returned to Newcrest for a short visit with friends Gia Harlow and Nico Hopper.  They checked out the newly opened Refinery Pool & Rec, an old derelict refinery that had been converted into a mixed-use community center and public pool.  Kashaya had a great time gossiping with Gia (and discussing who should win the Sims Next Top Model), showing off her swan dive, and flirting with a cute guy by the pool.

Watch out for Jacques Villareal!

Well what a coincidence, I was just reading about Jacques Villareal’s debauched and libidinous ways when this happened in game…

Kashaya was enjoying a relaxing soak in the hot tub at the Refinery Pool & Rec when Jacques sauntered by, brazenly dropped his robe, and hopped in.  At first she was hesitantly polite but then Jacques started talking.

Jacques: Hey baby, I don’t know what’s hotter in here – you or this water? How about we take it to the boiler room where we can make it scorching? Kashaya: Excuse me?  Did you come up with that pick up line specifically for this place?  I mean, you get maybe half a point for your feeble attempts at creativity, but NO, that’s a hard pass. Jacques: You know what else is h…? Kashaya: I’m going to stop you right there you perverted lech.  Ugh, YUCK!!  I wouldn’t be interested in you if you were the last person on earth! Jacques: I’ll have you know people pay lots of money to get a look at my hot bod. Kashaya: I’ll pay you to not have to look at it!  And I’ll pay extra if you get lost! Jacques: Your loss, there’s plenty of babes on Simder who’d love a chance with me. Kashaya: Ew!  Keep telling yourself that.

And with that Kashaya promptly rushed off to make herself some extra strong nectar in hopes of forgetting this rather unpleasant interaction.

Honestly, @cabsim, Jacques is showing such flagrant disregard for his marriage vows.  Personally, I think Penelope deserves better!

Everyone arrived and were ready to kick off the vacation but couldn’t agree what to do first.

Luckily Nayeli’s girlfriend Simone offered to help bartend.  Right in time too because the drink orders were piling up.

Nayeli: “As they say, many hands make for um... many drinks?”  

Ever fiercely competitive, Jazmin practiced Don’t Wake the Llama ahead of time thinking that it would give her an advantage.  Sadly that’s not how it played out. :(
