Alan Ritchson

Name: Uriel Gallagher Bio: For a man like Uriel, life is simple. You don't have to make it too complicated. When it comes to wrestling, he's very straightforward. He goes in, he dominates, he does what he needs to do, and collects his money. He's more of a stoic man, especially compared to some of the more outlandish personalities that he shares a federation building with. He much prefers it that way. He's a man of few words for a very good reason. If you think you can try and get one over on him, you're dead wrong. If you think you can just buddy up to him easily and instantly, you'd be just as wrong. He's as stoic as they come, and it takes a lot for him to even want to be associated with you, let alone be on your side. Finisher: Gallows

👊 + Uriel and Vincent

( meme )

uriel gallagher versus vincent byrd.

wrestling and vincent just go hand in hand with each other. it's the ultimate test of skill and dominance to be able to beat another person to the point where they can't get back up anymore. for someone as athletically inclined as him, it makes perfect sense. however, you could say the same thing about uriel just as much, if not more so.

vincent has the natural skill to succeed in just about every sport he has interest in. however, wrestling is a whole different beast than football or baseball. uriel wouldn't give a damn about where he came from or what people said about him. if they got in the ring with him, they were trying to put themselves on his level....and vince isn't at that level yet. he'd put up a fight for sure, but the bigger man would be far too much of an immovable mountain for him to have as much success as he would against a smaller oppoent.

all it would take is one solid hit from uriel's Gallows, and that would be the end of it. he wouldn't even try to pin him or anything. instead, he would just look down at him as the ref counted all the way up to 10.

👊 + Dante and Uriel

( meme )

dante carter versus uriel gallagher.

This could easily be billed as a 'david versus goliath' kind of match. there's no beef or rivalry between the two men. But the sheer scope of it can't be overlooked or ignored. This would be the kind of match that's billed as a 'comeback' to see if Dante's truly ready to come back to the ring after his injury.

Uriel would come at this with his pure power advantage. He's one of the larger men on the roster, and that's often more than enough to get him through his bouts. you should never discount the benefit of being able to pick someone up by the throat and throwing them a good distance away with relative ease. Everyone's more than aware of his stature, and his relative stony demeanor made him a force on his own.

However, if this were to be a 'comeback', Dante would have to bring out all the stops, and he has a fair amount of tools in his arsenal. Being smaller, he has the speed advantage, the agility advantage, and the technique advantage. He would be able to counter the big man in ways that would leave him staggering and eventually pinned down.

It wouldn't be an easy bout in the least bit for either side.

Muse most likely to… take the fall for a big cash bonus? Also muse least likely to do the same.

Most likely: Harry Benton. At the end of the day, money is money. He barely ever gets in the ring like that in first place, so to take a fall for some extra money is no big deal to him. He could always use the extra for a payment or some extra server space or security. it's a win-win. the only thing he'd ask is how much is on the table. Least likely: Uriel Gallagher. Trying to get to Uriel to agree to something like that would be like trying to squeeze blood from a mountain. the man would just look at you with a scowl and roll his eyes before walking off. If anything, it would make him more likely beat the guy he was supposed to face down even more than he normally would.

[dead end. +reverse] emilio or uriel / your choice

dead end (reversed). there’s nowhere left to run; the receiver has cornered you at last

uriel wasn't the type to get into drama. he did what he needed to do and went home. he was the epitome of the 'strong silent' type. it was hard to really get a read on what he was thinking at any one time or another, but you were pretty much safe around him as long as you didn't do anything to explicitly piss him off. that was kinda the general rule about the federation in general. don't be a dick, and you'll have a great time.

scott mccall, however, must've done something to piss the far larger man off as he had been chasing him down for the past 20 minutes. this might've been the first time that some of the guys on the roster would've ever seen him exude any kind of emotion that wasn't indifference or intensity in the ring. if his aura was visible, it'd be a flaming inferno as he finally had the kid cornered.

"explain yourself. now."

This is one scene that made a lot more sense to me - and more sense of what's going on with Castiel overall - once I watched the extended version in the BluRay deleted scenes. The full scene makes it explicit that Cas got demoted beneath Uriel, so it's more notable that Uriel leaves them to speak privately when Dean tells him to.

Cas tries to act as if his demotion isn't that important, but he can't look at Dean when he addresses it directly. He's off-balance and uncomfortable in a way that the aired scene doesn't show. That means he comes off as being less on the fence about what they're doing here and more frustrated - emotional - as well as torn on strategy. More as if he already knows for sure that this is objectively wrong, but isn't yet at a place where he has headroom for "Heaven's just plain wrong on this one and I need to do something about it." By the end of the episode, having dealt with Uriel's betrayal and listened to Anna, he's there.

It's a long scene - just over five minutes including a cutaway to show Alastair on the rack - so cuts were inevitable, but still. Some key Uriel-Dean tension got the chop, and it lost some thoughtful pauses and tense blocking.

It was maybe the wrong side of his conversations with Anna to give clarity to Castiel's personal motives; maybe it muddied the waters by suggesting that the demotion is a factor in his discomfort, but I think this unedited scene much better explains how and why Dean's persuaded to go along with the ghastly plan - why it takes a scene and a heartfelt conversation with Cas rather than an episode and heavy-handed tactics from Uriel to get Dean on board. In the full scene, Dean sees Castiel struggling with the wrongness of it, sees as well as hears the evidence that this is the last thing Cas wants to ask of him.

It also shows a little more of the doubt that Anna defines for Cas later in the episode - just that bit more show-don't-tell to help things along. It shows more clearly that Cas already knows that what he feels is doubt, and how much that alarms him, lending more context to the moment when Anna goes too far too soon, touches his hand, and he falls back on the certainty of obeying orders rather than being immediately persuaded by her offer of solidarity. That in turn makes the scene where he calls Anna back, asks her to help him, begs her to tell him what to do, even more momentous for the character.

Thank technology for BluRay extras!
