the part of the novel where hira says kiyoi "isn't very funny" is one of my favorite parts of the entire novel, for some reason.
hira has a cracked screen protector on his phone in high school, and has a wallet case. he also has an appropriately blue backpack. i am reminded of these insignificant facts sometimes. do you ever think about how hira is blue and kiyoi is purple (look at the merch and their toothbrushes) and s1's poster is blue and s2's is purple and
i often think about this part of hira's high school life. after he beat up shirota. thinking about when he asks kiyoi if he's scared of him in the novel (because his classmates are. since he "suddenly" snapped and beat someone up) and kiyoi simply. isn't. of course he isn't. it made him fall for hira, instead.

the way winter is utilized as a season in utsukare (looks at s1) (looks at s2) i will die. anyway
as we approach the kiss, i'd like to say that when i bingewatched s1 of utsukare for the first time, i was VERY deeply entrenched in the hira pov. even the stuff he is soooo obviously wrong about. so when hira convinced himself that kiyoi kissed hira to tell him to stop chasing after him, i was like 'yes, sounds about right."
i would like to shake both hira AND my past self for a minute straight
prob gonna stop at the end of s1 and rewatch s2 and the movie some other time. i watch s1 and the rest of utsukare with very different mindsets, if it makes sense?
all parts of utsukare make me mentally unwell, though. just in markedly different ways
my favorite kiyoi #Look in the first season is when he takes off his cap and hira sees him for the first time in two years. genuinely feel the same awe as hira here. kiyoi looks amazing. the black looks SO good on him. and his expressions. love the casting of this show. yusei yagi IS the utsukushii kare and riku is such an amazing hira. he's also cast often as photography boy for some reason, which i find hilarious. god i love utsukare 10/10 perfect to me
hirakiyo soulmate au where they have what their soulmate will call them as a nickname on their wrists, and kiyoi has always had "king" as a soulmark whereas hira has always had "stalker" on his wrist
i'm sure koyama assumed kiyoi was calling hira stuttering "gross" and was upset over THAT. but i find it funnier to assume koyama thought kiyoi was being homophobic or something "what?" i don't know, it's what my brain jumped to. they don't know what it was (jealousy
hira is nicer to koyama in the drama, methinks. i need to compile every change/addition/exclusion to utsukare from novel -> drama sometime, because it interests me a lot
something that was left out of the drama that i always think about is what hira says during the climactic scene of s1. i think so often about what hira says here, because it really sheds a light on why he thinks the way he does
well, the drama takes out the parts that show formerly passively suicidal hira. did you know he used to "tie a towel to a doorknob" to practice feelin the sensation of killing himself? and that kiyoi responds with "..." at him mentioning this?
kiyoi asks "why did you change your number?" and hira doesn't catch on to the fact that kiyoi called him and realized hira had changed his number and felt heartbroken
did i mention i love the utsukare soundtrack or have i not mentioned how much i love every aspect of utsukare enough yet
just to clarify since some people have actually assumed this, i did NOT choose my internet namesake (sou) based on kiyoi sou from utsukushii kare. or even sou hiyori yttd. i did not choose based on any fictional characters. i wanted to clarify th-
hira and kiyoi thinking the SAME things about each other word for word is crazy and even more proof to me of the "they're literally soulmates" assertion.
i love when utsukare flips to kiyoi's perspective. it explains SO much about his actions, how he feels, and what hira has misconstrued. i just love pov switches so much. another bl that made me go goddamn crazy had a pov switch, so i think this may be a thing i'm a bit unwell over

hira and kiyoi definitely thought about each other every day that they were apart. all the time. always, constantly. day and night. for the full two years. and that's part of why they are perfect to each other for me
