I just read this seen. With this drawing. I am now crying.

Scene from “The Vampire Lestat” where he visited theatre once again but this time as a vampire. And met Nicolas de Lenfent. 

*Sob*  Everything about this character is rather depressively sad but yet so little words about his thoughts. I’ll never get through my grief about Nicolas. Why in the hell am I reading this book again? Why it ended up this bad for Nicolas? May be this time I’ll be able to find the real answer. (but I suspect life of Nicolas could be… less doomed if Lestat wasn’t both selfish and good-hearted)

Just be clear, the "plotting murder" with Armand is a reference to his inclinations towards homicide in the books. I really like Rashid and I'm very interested in seeing how they adapt Armand's story in this version

Therapy for the polycule [Vamptember]

[I'm completely new to Tumblr, so I hope I'll get this right, haha.] For Vamptember, I'm writing a multichapter fic, that revolves around Louis, Armand, Daniel and Lestat forming a polycule and healing their traumas and issues through therapy! Luckily they found another vampire who is a psychologist and can treat them all! One prompt per chapter - flashback scenes that explain how they started this thing spread throughout the work - table of contents in chapter one, handy to look through that if you want to read single chapters instead of the whole thing (many chapters can be read as a standalone without further context.) Rating: Mature, Pairings: Louis/Armand/Daniel/Lestat and every combination of that, Current Word Count (September 23rd): 42.284

Vamptember, Day 24: "Half in love with an easeful death"

Armand wakes to a therapy session with Chloe - when she asks him a question about his killing methodology, it leads to a heavy conversation, a journey through Amadeo's and Armand's past that explores how his sentiment of choosing his victims might have to do more with the past than he'd wanted to admit. Context for those only reading that chapter: In this, Armand is part of a DID system. And mind the tags and trigger warnings in the author's notes! Rating: Mature Words: ca. 6,86 k Short excerpt under the cut!

This excerpt is probably not the most interesting part, but I don't think I can post the best parts on Tumblr, because of the thousand trigger warnings they would need!

[...] Armand replied immediately, maybe a little too fast. “Grace acts as the opposite of the brutality we are. We need to balance the scale.”

He could feel the muscles in his jaw tensing and twitching, the tension that rose inside him breaking through. Navigating this conversation was like a game of chess, where one player reveals enough of their strategies to their opponent to create a sense of false security, to make the other person think they had the upper hand in seeing the pattern, only to then later turn the table around so drastically, leaving the other player baffled and accidentally giving away their plans. A way to win. But … this was therapy. There was nothing to win, except happiness in the long run, maybe? Insight?

Chloe studied him for a long moment – wrote something down, again. Her hand moved across the paper without urgency. Then, she met his gaze full-on, managing to surprise Armand by putting her notepad and pen down, and discarding it onto the table.

“Armand, it seems like you’re holding something back. Is there any reason you’re so hesitant?”

Was he hesitant? Probably.

“The issue here is not hesitation. Carefulness, yes. Deliberate planning.”

Chloe leaned back in the armchair, and then, she smirked. A twinkle appeared in her eyes, confusing Armand enough to raise his eyebrows. “If I tell you some of the reasons – not all – behind asking certain questions, would that make you feel more secure? Make you take the plunge into revealing more about that topic?”

Oh, now she was the one playing a game? Intriguing. [...]

Anyone else ever think that polyamory would be the perfect solution to portray and combine show-season-1-Lestat's jealousy and book-Lestat's love for absolutely everything mortal and vampire on earth? Like, hear me out:

I don't think that Lestat's jealousy is rooted in the need to be the only person that Louis loves, not really. It's rooted in his abandonment issues and the fear that Louis falls in love with someone else AND then wants to leave Lestat. But what if other people joined the relationship - then there would be no need for Louis to ever leave him.

Not saying it would be a healthy or non-toxic kind of polycule, but so aren't almost all of the canon relationships.

Me: Okay so when I'm creating my new pen-and-paper character, I will for once stay away from anything to do with vampires and give my brain a pause from IWTV and the vampire chronicles in general. I'm perfectly able to think about something else, to keep myself from the fandom for like two hours. ... proceeds to create a dramatic backstory about a gothic twink named Vincent, who became a media star by writing and directing movies about VAMPIRES. And yes, probably those vampires are also gay.

like, I know my hyperfixations all right, but how the hell did this series manage to take my brain hostage like that? omfg xD

Thinking back, it's so wild that:

- 10 years ago someone made me watch the iwtv movie and I was like "meh, okay, whatever"

- 2/3 of my parents read the vampire chronicles up to some point and my dad probably mentioned it a few times

- in all my searches about vampire fiction I never stumbled across th vampire chronicles

And then I randomly found amc's iwtv in August, binged both seasons, read 5 books (tvl, qotd,totbt,mtd,tva) in the span of 2 weeks, started to read Pandora and Merrick but dropped them to read the Mayfair series first, watched the 90's movie and the QotD one, rewatched some iwtv episodes, read and wrote fanfiction like crazy, made this tumblr to engage with the fandom and now started to figure out video editing to make fan edits.

My brain is possessed by all of the characters, I can barely talk about anything else anymore, and to think I could have had that years ago .... Actually I don't know if I should be sad or glad about it, haha

The door fell shut.

Maybe, if Daniel didn’t look at Armand, he would just disappear. That’s what he had told his daughters when they were crying about a monster hiding in their rooms.

“Daddy, it’s real, its orange eyes are glowing in the dark!”

Ice water was nothing against the shiver that now ran through his body.

“Yes,” Armand’s voice came from behind him, suddenly so close.

“I never truly left you, my beautiful boy.”

Arms wrapped around his chest from behind, cold breath made the hair on his neck stand up.

“Ready to become a monster, Daniel?”

“Yes, boss.” ---

Okay question: It's kinda hard to move freely without spoilers in vampire chronicles book spaces when one has read some books but not all yet. I've read up to and including The Vampire Armand (+started Pandora but paused) and I read a few pages of Merrick and really want to continue with the VC- then I heard it's best to read the Mayfair chronicles first. I read about 100 pages of The Witching Hour and sorry but for me it's boring af. Is it worth it, for better enjoyment of the later VC books, to sit through reading the Mayfair chronicles? Honest opinion?

"A Mother's Love" - Lestat's POV. Rating of the work: Mature It's the last chapter (minus the epilogue) in that fic, and it's time for this AU's version of Rockstar Lestat's debut concert (not so much the on-stage part, tbf)! Also, a visitor appears, someone Lestat hasn't seen in a long time. They talk. It's emotional. Also, Lestat's pronouns change throughout the chapter. Excerpt under the cut!

He certainly had the confidence, he had been a performer in the past and if you count that he was used to constantly putting on an act in interactions of any kind – he’d never stopped performing. Lestat slowly exhaled, eyes fixed on the spot where the air hit the glass, fogging the surface. He was nervous, yes. But it wasn’t stage fright. The thing was, as soon as he’d set foot on that stage, the situation would become real. The emotions he was processing, his past he’d poured into his songs, would come to life. He’d reveal the truth not only about long-kept vampire secrets but also about himself. And that … was kind of the point, wasn’t it? Yes, but that didn’t mean that he wasn’t allowed to have second thoughts about it.

A sudden knock on the door ripped him from his thoughts. “Mr. de Lioncourt! Ten minutes until entry!” The voice of a stage assistant came through, muffled to human ears, perfectly audible to him. “Yeah, all right!” He answered, stepping away from the mirror to walk over to his suitcase. A lot could happen in ten minutes, and although his outfit was mostly finished – he had to get one more item. He forced his hands to be calm as he opened the lid and reached into the pocket, pulling out a book.

It wasn’t just any book. Lestat gently traced his fingers along the blue ribbon that was attached to the worn-out leather cover, half-smiling, half-dreading what he was about to do. He’d written a song about her – no, to be correct, he’d written many, many songs, but this was the only one he was going to share with the world.

IWTV/Vampire Chronicles AUvember

I spent hours searching for November fanfic events because I didn’t want to participate in any word-count goal ones, but I didn’t find anything I could imagine myself doing. Then I asked myself: What is something that would challenge me as a fanfic writer, what is something I’ve never really done before? Answer: Experimenting with Alternative/Alternate Universes! Aside from the usual Canon Divergence. I mean stuff like Coffeeshop AUs, High-School AUs, etc. For a long time, I didn’t even read them.

So, for November, I’m leaving my comfort zone and will attempt to create IWTV/Vampire Chronicles AU fanfics! (Of course, I'm doing it for this fandom because this particular hyperfixation has taken over my brain). I wonder how this will work out because I included prompts I don’t even read – part of the challenge for me will be to find something of interest in settings that would usually bore me. And maybe other people want to try that too? If you're interested in joining, read this: - I don’t have the energy to turn this into a moderated event, but if you want to participate, feel free to use the tag #vcAUvember, so we can check each other’s works more easily! - Interpret the prompts however you want – do one, do all, do a oneshot per prompt, or multichapter fics with combined prompts, drabbles, drawings, etc. This challenge is about experimenting with something new and/or unfamiliar.
