SER VIK REDWYNE'S YOUNGEST SISTER;  she was the lastborn child of the lesser house redwyne , after forging a tentative love match as a young girl with the lord and heir of house chester of greenfield, a shield island of the reach.    she moved there at sixteen , and they were within the year.    ——   years later callah’s elder brother, vik redwyne as well as their sister elena saltcliffe , did their best to reach her as the war raged and the lannisters annihilated house tyrell ... but not before callah's husband and children had perished and she severely wounded.   though she fought hard , she would die in vik’s arms at dragonstone ; after suffering through her wounds during the journey at sea ,claimed by exhaustion , infection & grief.

     [..]  got. the specific location of her death on dragonstone is applicable to verses wherein vik pledges himself to house targaryen’s side.

[+] hotd. callah's death is during the outset of the the dance, and is due to childbirth complications. vik did not make it in time to say goodbye to her & feels horrible guilt for that.

         vik’s younger sister , lady elena , was arranged to wed the heir of house saltcliffe of saltcliffe.  she , of all her three sisters , was the most naturally capable and drawn to the sea — and her father , a mighty sea captain in the arbor fleet , though it to be a perfect match.    he was not wrong , she was betrothed to lord heir byron , and relocated to the isle and seat of saltcliffe when she was nineteen years old and then wed within the year.    they have five sons together , and she is now thirty one years old ; they have ruled the isle for almost twenty years now.      the ironborn grew to respect and revere the reachborn lady , she was more a sailor than many women of her age and held her own with a true iron spine.    lady elena’s ship , as she commands her own , is called the salted vine.

       house saltcliffe commands seventy ships collectively under their banner and bannermen. their fleet includes warships , longships , galleys , carracks as well as skiff and barges and a handful of smaller vessels.

v. game of thrones ( S1 - S6 ) —  ser vik is primarily at the side as a sworn guard of his third cousin , lord paxter redwyne ( lore : x ) , in service for his skills and not for kinship loyalty or fondness , many of the places that lord paxter was located in his canon history , vik was there as well. through his family line , vik and his family are a distantly removed cousin of lord mace tyrell.     battles fought : the battle of the blackwater     attended : the purple wedding , the trial of tyrion lannister v. game of thrones  ( S7 + ) — vik was not in kings landing when the sept of baelor was destroyed , and following the destruction of house tyrell and fall of the reach , vik abandoned his post at his removed cousins side , took his ships , his men and intended to make for the isle of saltcliffe to his sister.  on the way he discovers his closest sister , lady wella beesbury of honeyholt as well as her husband and children , were slaughtered by lannister armies in the reach.  he then receives a raven from his sister at saltcliffe , who’s husband was slaughtered at the kingsmoot by euron greyjoy , asking him to attend dragonstone and offer house saltcliffe’s allegiance to the dragon queen, daenerys targaryen.

   𝐬𝐞𝐫  𝐯𝐢𝐤  𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐰𝐲𝐧𝐞   +   𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧  𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞  𝐨𝐟  𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬.

a captain within the arbour fleet and a third cousin, once removed, to the ruling lord of the arbour, lord paxter redwyne.   his father, captain wells redwyne, died at sea when he was young, and a handful of years later his mother, victaria, would begin to retreat in her unhealed grief. vik was almost of age, not quite yet, but became the leader of the family in many ways. in due time ... his three younger sisters, wella, elena, and callah would marry — respectively into house beesbury of honeyholt, house saltcliffe of saltcliffe and, house chester of greenfield … whilst his only brother, and second-youngest, brenn, was sent to the nights watch as a criminal.  after this vik was given a knighthood by his third-cousin on the condition he would serve as lord redwyne’s personal guard during (what would be) the war of the five kings, as lord paxter was based in kings landing during this time. this was a role he took on solely due to the care his mother now needed, absent daughters and now sadly frail of body & mind. without the financial benefit of the knighthood vik could not have afforded to pay for the proper care his mother needs.

[..] summary of g.o.t. lineage: a third or fourth cousin, once removed, to lord mace tyrell who is the father of lords willas, garlan, loras & lady margaery tyrell; the four of whom vik is assumedly a fifth cousin. in this fashion, he is also distant relative of lady olenna tyrell.

[..] g.o.t. events present at: the battle of the blackwater, the wedding of margaery tyrell and joffrey baratheon, the assassination of king joffrey, the trial of tyrion lannister, the wedding of tommen baratheon and margaery tyrell, the siege of dragonstone (against stannis baratheon’s men), and the rise of the faith militant.

note: that vik serves as guard to lord paxter, who served on the small council first under king joffrey, and then under regent kevan lannister during cersei’s imprisonment, and as such was a present and consistent face in kings landing during this time.  the show timeline is the war of five kings and in kings landing mainly, up until the assassination of house tyrell at the sept.

it’s a hard one to explain , because he would have been contented with obtaining and staying as a captain … a lot of people mocked him for being the son of the feared and revered captain wells redwyne ; saying he was going to given the title by proxy and not due to his skills.   he defied them , of course , and had risen to equal his father years before the man died at sea.   in the years between captain and knight , vik traveled the main southern coastal cities and towns and so he entered himself in various tournaments , celebratory games and similar … through this hobby of his vik earned himself a very decent renown for his good showings and being unflinchingly good at remaining on his horse ; often even taking a joust to the shield or dodging it completely to the cheer and shock of crowds.    sparring followed , his skill with a blade already honed as a younger lad and over his adulthood , and so sword-fights became part of his repertoire in these games of sport and violence.

come the time his third cousin and ruling lord of the arbor approached him with a knighthood and a condition to it , vik was more than capable of holding his own … and certainly known amongst the arbor knights as one of the finest.   in the six years that passed in this time , his mother had become ill and had grown to forget her own children’s faces , requiring constant care … and whilst his life as a captain provided for that easily — a knighthood and a salary to stand at his removed cousins side was tempting.    vik had always loved the sea as his father had even sister did , and to leave it and the freedom it bought for him …  it hurt, and still hurts him , but the unavoidable fact was that he could not refuse his lord cousin , not without risking his ailing mothers security and his two sisters who had married reachmen.  though also a removed cousin of the lord of the reach ; the arbor fleet stands commanding as a force and thus so does his cousin , anything vik did as the head of his family would run on to them.

there is no love between his cousin and himself , both due to their literal distance between them and lord arbors general personality not mixing with viks , but there is no denying that ser vik is an excellent and capable guardsman.       …   and so , it is a bittersweet title he holds and a bittersweet view on it all ; sweet for the opportunities it has given him and bitter because of the life he so loved and was forced to leave behind.

CAPTAIN WELLS REDWYNE † .. deceased, over two decades years ago. he was the second cousin of the ruling lord of the arbor and one of the most respected ship captains of the arbor fleet, captain redwyne was presumed dead when, for reasons that were never clear, his ship capsized and sunk beneath the waves along with two other arbor ships. [..] LADY VICTARIA REDWYNE .. the widow of captain redwyne, her mind has turned soft in the years since her husbands' death, she resides in the family home with dedicated carers as she is prone to forgetfulness, wandering away, and becoming lost. sadly she no longer remembers her children and, for the most part, is easily upset and confused.

SER VIK REDWYNE .. the eldest son of his parents and like his father, a talented seafarer, he very much takes after his father but he has his mothers' blue eyes; he is named after her. vik entirely earned his position within the arbor fleet but has attained a similar reputation to his father. a talented fighter and more, he was knighted, and is now often at the side of his third cousin, lord garland redwyne, as somewhat of a guard.

LADY WELLA BEESBURY .. secondborn child, first daughter. named for her father and now a lady of house beesbury of honeyholt, born almost directly after her elder brother they were often mistaken for twins. she married the secondborn son of house beesbury, lord perrin, when she was twenty, and they now have three children together.

LADY ELENA SALTCLIFFE .. thirdborn child. born with sea-water in her blood and a love of sailing, it seemed perfect when it was arranged for her to wed the heir of house saltcliffe, lord byron saltcliffe, who was already a tenured captain. at nineteen she relocated to the iron islands and specifically to the island of saltcliffe and since then she has carved a mighty name for herself with her prowess at sea, as a lady, and is regarded as an ironborn. they have five children together.

BRENN REDWYNE .. fourthborn, second son. a builder in the nights watch, he was given a choice between losing his hands or taking the black when he was seventeen after being caught committing a succession of crimes including theft and assault.

LADY CALLAH CHESTER .. fifth & lastborn. the youngest child happened to forge a semi-love match with the secondborn son of house chester of greenshield after the two adolescents met at a nameday celebration in the arbor. callah was sent to the shield island of greenshield when she was a teenage, as a hosted guest and an intended bride to the house, spending three years there before eventually marrying lord maron chester. [..] connection. there was a discussion at one point of callah redwyne wedding lord heir dorren mormont (@sovlbound) of bear island, and the two houses met. callah eventually confessed that she and her once-childhood sweetheart, lord maron, wished to marry, and the discussion of the potential union was ended without issue; the two houses parting without ill feelings.
