Plus & Minus just ended and I have to say, there are very few, if any, Taiwanese BLs that I haven’t enjoyed! The most recent, prior to P&M was DNA Says Love You. These series are more understated, more thoughtful, and very fresh, and I would compare them more to Korean BLs than to Thai BLs, (but oftentimes with better sex, or certainly deeper kisses)! Don’t miss them! I, also, appreciate the fact that Taiwan studios don’t force fake relationships onto their actors, or make them do all kinds of appearances together.

Honorable mention, here, to 49 Days With a Merman, which isn’t a true BL, but more like a “Buddy” series.

Addendum: About Youth!

Here is a, not-so-complete, list of Taiwanese BL series:

Я идиот, мне пришла импульсивная идея сделать вики по LibraryTale, но теперь, когда я сделала, мне лень её заполнять... а закрыть вики это целый процесс, поэтому полагаю, мне придётся её постепенно заполнять. Кому не лень и совсем уж нечем заняться, то я была бы благодарна за написание отдельных статей для персонажей, или мест (библиотеки??), или ещё чего-то! КЛИК СЮДА что бы перейти на вики. Спасибо за внимание!

Honest Review on “Sky Castle”

just finished sky castle. here’s my honest opinion: *MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS*

- I don’t want to justify the Hye Na situation: yes, she was underprivileged compared to the rest of the Castle kids; yes, she deserved better because her mom died and she literally knew who her dad was. but, that doesn’t justify the things she did to the Kang family. getting revenge on them for the mistake made by the dad- which was a mistake deemed by his mother- was an immature move, and I expected better of her. there were enough problematic people in this drama, and no one wanted more of that. Hye Na deserved better, but Hye Na could’ve calmed down a little.

- my favorite family was the Woo family: they offered a completely different dynamic compared to the Kang and the Cha families. Jin Hee recognized the problems within their home the fastest and fixed that problem faster comparatively. they were overall the cutest family, and their interactions were so pure and innocent. now, of course, the family that was really adorable alongside the Woos were the Hwangs. off the bat, they exhibited the dynamics of an ideal family, almost. I really loved their household and the way the parents took care of it all, whether it came to happy times or sad times.

- finally, I would’ve liked to see Ye Seo in a relationship with someone: this is after she went through that character development, but I would’ve liked to see her with either Seo Joon or maybe even Woo Joo. even if the directors would’ve fast forwarded time to a few years later, I think Ye Seo’s personality would’ve been compatible with either/or of these characters. Seo Joon’s very soft-spoken and from the beginning, I thought that he had a sense of empathy towards Ye Seo. I think that would’ve been the key component in their potential relationship. As far as Woo Joo goes, obviously this is based on Ye Seo’s crush on him. I would also think something may have developed in him after he realized that Ye Seo practically gave it up to save him from a life of torment. I think their chemistry worked really well.

Overall, it was probably one of the best dramas I’d ever seen. Amazing character development, and excellent videography. Would I recommend it? Yes. Would I rewatch it? Yes. Did I regret watching this? Absolutely not. Is there a season 2 that will be releasing? hmm, only time will tell ;)

Recommendations Please!

I’ve started watching Asian dramas and I need some recommendations.

Here’s what I’ve seen and liked so far:

I Hear You - The first drama I watched. It was cute and made me want to watch more.

Love O2O (series) - I loved the friendships in this one. I liked the strength of the relationship between Bei Wei Wei and Xiao Nai, although it was so hard to watch them kiss, but the fault of that was all on her. The sort of relationship between Hao Mei and KO was adorable. I fell in love with Yang Yang, Zhang Bin Bin, and Zheng Ye Cheng.

Good Morning Call – I liked the premise of the show. I had major second lead syndrome though. All the other guys who were interested in her were better than the main and I wanted better for them all too.

A Love So Beautiful – I liked that the other characters got some background and story time as well. I felt bad for Wu Bo Song, but I liked the main couple in this. And the relationship between their friends was so sweet.

Accidentally In Love – The plot for this one was kind of all over the place, but I enjoyed it. The second lead again deserved better, but I realize this is a common theme and I’m just going to have to get used to it.

I Am Not A Robot – I loved this one. It made me cry. The main actor was so convincing in his emotional scenes and the scenes where he was having an allergic reaction. I like that some of the antagonists were redeemed a bit by the end.

You’re My Pet – This one was odd, but in a good way? I watched the Japanese 2017 version.

Addicted – I watched this one based off another person’s recommendation. I was disappointed to learn it had been cancelled because of the subject matter, but I know that it’s a continuing struggle all over the world for acceptance.

Pretty Li Hui Zhen – I watched this one just because it had Zhang Bin Bin. I really disliked Bai Hao Yu until just a few episodes before the end. He was horrible to Li Hui Zhen and she was so obsessed with this memory of their childhood that she was completely oblivious to Lin Yi Mu’s feelings. I may have been a little - ok, a lot - biased, but honestly, why go for the mean guy when you’ve got the fun sweet one right there? He deserved better too.

Marriage, Not Dating – I liked that he realized his feelings were genuine before she did. Even though I liked Han Yeo Reum, I think Gong Gi Tae and Joo Jang Mi were perfectly matched.

My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend – This one was funny, but surprisingly had a lot of heart. I loved the comedy throughout. I still cried a few times though, especially near the end. I wish there was another season, just because.

I’m currently in the middle of:

Eternal Love – I’m only about halfway through it. I love Zhang Bin Bin’s character, of course. The costumes in this are gorgeous.

Absolute Boyfriend - I’m about 12 episodes from the end. Just waiting for them to be available on Viki. I understand the ending is a bit polarizing for the people who’ve seen it, but I’m invested and I’m going to finish it.

I’m open to pretty much any genre and time period. I’d prefer if the shows weren’t completely depressing though. I have Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Viki, so any shows available on those would be great.

Thanks in advance!
