Wei Wuxian: Hanguang-Jun and I don’t have the best relationship.
*blank stares from everyone who watched them spend their adolescence completely obsessed with each other*
Wei Wuxian: The best relationship would be husbands.
MY ENTIRE SHORT MXTX LIFE I THOUGHT THE GUY IN WHITE ON THE COVER WAS WEI WUXIAN BUT IT’S NOT MY LIFE IS A LIE IT WAS LAN WANGJI THE WHOLE TIME
The cultivation world: Wei Wuxian is better than us cause we’d never have saved anyone from an unjust death, especially not someone who killed us before.
Jin Guangyao: If people were as good as Wei Wuxian, my clan would never have had the chance to kill him.
Jiang Cheng: Wow, Wei Wuxian really is better than me because he gave me his golden core with no thoughts of repayment or retribution for me leading an army to murder him. I am a clown.
The damn author herself: Wei Wuxian is better than everyone except for his husband, who matches his morality and righteousness.
This fandom for some fucking reason: Actually, not only does Wei Wuxian suck, but he’s just as bad as all the other characters, because why else would they hate him? You can’t hate good people, that’s illegal. Critical analysis is my specialty!

Unboxing Nendoroid 1068 Wei Wuxian

Just got him August 22, at 8pm
He’s cute BUT so fragile

Look at the hair tie and the hair piece. So many slender parts. I fear breaking them while changing the parts!
Look at the last pic- GSC advertised a moveable hair piece but I assumed it’s only the pony tail. Turns out it’s the hair at the ears area- its jointed and I see something white in between. No idea if it’s removable as i might have to break it to find that Out!

He’s only my second Nendoroid after Levi from Shingeki no Kyojin and he’s way more complicated to dismantle to remove the plastic protective sheets.
All Nendo come with this parts list in the instructions manual and for 1068 they all look similar. At least with Levi I could tell coz the hands were visible and so by the position of the thumb I kenw what arm part went where. But 1068 is difficult because of his pose- basically he’s supposed to be putting his hands on his hips or something but the hands are hidden in the sleeves so no thumbs..

Levi also has one arm and one hand but I think this design is for the newer nendo so it took me too Long to figure out the arms parts were seperate and then figure out how to remove the sleeve etc how to reattach arms with his hair in the way without breaking everything
Tried to pose him but everything (arm/hip/fringe/ponytail) kept dropping off the main body as its pretty hard for me to attach parts With the hair in the way. Took me an entire hour to set up the figure and at least ten min to pose him
I literally cannot-

Wei Wuxian?????

Honey, the hell you doin' at Ghost City???

The sects trying to summon WWX's soul: Why isn't it working???
Wei Wuxian having the time of his life (death?) gambling at Ghost City: ... Hua Chengzhu, can you hear that annoying buzzing sound too?
Hua Cheng: I don't hear anything.
Wei Wuxian: ...
Wei Wuxian: Anyways, so -
I can't stop thinking of JC and WWX as that astronaut meme like WWX: wait you mean my heroic acts of sacrifice have consequences for the people who love me?? JC, holding a gun: always have
Some of my favourite moments in the series come when other people sacrifice themselves for Wei Wuxian (Wen Qing paralyzing him with the needles before going to die with Wen Ning, Jiang Cheng giving himself up to them Wen (he doesn’t even know why Jiang Cheng is in danger but he’s still very unhappy about it) and of course Yanli pushing him out of the way of that sword), and he just hates it! It makes him so deeply miserable and distraught! All of the most self destructive shit he pulls (giving up his core in a dangerous experimental procedure, crashing his own cancellation party to start shit with 3000 of his closest enemies, throwing himself off of a cliff), he pulls in the immediate aftermath of the people he loves getting hurt or dying on his behalf.
It’s a big part of why I love the moment Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian run down the stairs together so much. Wei Wuxian is trying to sacrifice himself for someone he loves, again, and Lan Wangji doesn’t answer that sacrifice in kind. He shows him he’ll walk into trouble with him. They don’t have to take turns suffering alone for each other! They can face what comes next together, as a team. And for Wei Wuxian, deciding to accept that offer and trust not just in Lan Wangji’s love but his judgement, his right to make that choice for himself- he’s come so far! He’s grown so much! I love them.
WangXian AU
where Lan Zhan took a vow of silence after his mother died and now his fifteen and just met a very loud boy who speaks for both of them

{Part 1}
“Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan? Are you really not going to pay attention to me? What if I tried to run away, huh? What would you say to your uncle?”
Wei Wuxian leaned further onto the table, head held by both of his hands as he hid a mischievous smile. Lan Wangji ignored him again, as expected.
He didn’t give up, though. He’s been trying to get a reaction from the other boy for three hours by now and he still had some time left before he could be released. He could swear his delicate hands were all calloused by how fast he forced himself to copy the Gusu Lan clan’s rules.
He purposely finished the copies faster than usual just so he could spend the rest of his time in the library trying to take a reaction out of Hanguang-jun.
Lan Qiren had punished him by being watched over by the other teenager for disturbing the classroom some time ago. Spending part of his days in the recesses of the clouds being watched and having his actions controlled wasn't exactly what he was planning for himself but it wasn't like he could control his mouth all the time!
To make things worse, the old man had intentionally chosen not only the most quiet and boring person Wei Wuxian had interacted with, but also the person who despised him most.
Since the first day they met, it was clear to everyone that Lan Wangji seemed to have taken a special dislike towards the boy. He didn’t have to voice it, first because Lan Wangji wasn’t the type of person that would go around expressing his dislikes and second of all he didn’t speak. At all.
At first, Wei Wuxian had thought the boy was just ignoring them (and him, more specifically) and his personality was more quiet than most but then he realized that Lan Wangji just didn’t talk, not even with his own brother or uncle.
He had followed the boy around for an entire day and the only time he had seen his lips part was during meals.
“Why won't you speak?”
He had approached him a month ago like this, getting out of his hiding place behind the trees and bushes covered in leaves. Jiang Cheng had been searching for him and he was pretty sure Lan Wangji heard them when his brother found him sneaking behind things to silently follow Lan Wangji.
Even after covering his brother’s mouth with both of his hands, he knew by the way Lan Wangji stopped momentarily in his walk for some seconds before continuing as if he hadn’t heard anything at all, that he was very aware of his presence.
He only stopped again when Wei Wuxian called him directly. Wei Wuxian couldn’t say he wasn’t disappointed when the only answer he received was half of a glaring stare towards him before Lan Wangji resumed his walk.
“Really, what were you thinking of? What if he got really angry at you this time and-”
“Jiang Cheng.” Wei Wuxian turned around to look at Jiang Cheng and he sounded very serious, leaving his brother out of words for some seconds.
“...What is it now?”
“I’m hungry.”
“...”
Jiang Cheng blinked. He had to make sure he hadn't heard wrong. “...What?”
“Ahh, I spent the whole day walking and waiting, I wasn’t able to get a proper meal, so I’m really hungry now!” He said putting one of his arms around Jiang Cheng.
“Wei Wuxian! You- really!”
“I’m really hungry, yes, thank you for understanding. Let’s go grab something to eat before dinner.”
Wei Wuxian knew Jiang Cheng wouldn’t be able to understand how important it was for him to find out the reason behind Lan Wangji’s silence.
Was he born like this? Or was that something that happened in some part of his life? An accident or the result of a fight? An opponent or a curse, maybe?? There were so many options, really, he just wanted to know why!
There was also the option that he was just ignoring people in general, too, though.
Even so, Wei Wuxian was sure that was a cool reason behind his silence.
That night, after dinner, he had run to search for his sister to ask her if she knew anything about it, he heard so many histories over Lan Wangji that he couldn’t be sure which was true or false.

Screaming but Uncle I love him I’m keeping his baby
thinking about how Wei Wuxian's story allows the martyr to see the sacrifice and the resurrection and Lan Wangji's story allows the bereaved to see the loss and the resilience.
in our world, there is never enough time and space for grief. a failed self-sacrifice is often not witnessed or mourned, the martyr is not allowed to return and wrestle with the consequences and a world moved beyond them. reforming the self after the cataclysm comes from a place of fierce love and devotion.
love, grief, and sacrifice are different faces of the same human force.
I want to know the story of the burial mounds. How did this place of great resentment come to be? Is the war framing wwx's first life just one of many, does it even make the list of the worst?
A mass grave that everyone knows about, the land barren and abandoned -- how much effort was put into cleansing and at the cost of whom? Where are the families of those buried there, descendents that know of those restless, resentful spirits left to fester?
Every interpretation of what wwx was exposed to, what he learned and lost, what he did to survive there makes me so feral. 3 months in hell. He knew one person couldn't do all that the Yiling Laozu was accused of, the unconsenting object of the masses' need to construct a boogeyman. But I think he came out of the burial mounds knowing well what a systemic force of greed and violence could accomplish.
(All this related to some chaotic thoughts about wwx & his empathy being his key characteristic -- not just his genius. As much as he was stripped, homicidal, starved, feral coming out of the mounds, it is his fundamental ability to connect and relate that saves his spirit over and over. I'm obsessed with him 😭.)
Rereading MDZS vol 3 (oof ouch my heart) -- trying to pin down my interpretation of Madame Yu is still so interesting. I fully think that she recognized Wei Wuxian's potential and saw that he was currently exhibiting leadership maturity while her son was very clearly still juvenile (love that for JC tbh). In the scene where the kid is taken by the Wens for the kite, WWX jumps into management mode and JC is freaking out with the other disciples. Madame Yu overhears that. I don't think Wei Wuxian would be lead disciple only because of age (though it may be just that) and he clearly had the respect of the younger disciples (oof ouch my heart again). She could have held him back to defend Lotus Pier, but I think she saw how critical he was to Jiang Cheng's (and maybe also Yanli's) survival. And then she drilled in that he owed them, that anything less that absolute self-sacrificing dedication is because he is spiteful, a leech, selfish. JFM's backbone is Madame Yu (it seems) and I think WWX is JC's and she recognizes that, despite all of JCs bluster. She bound WWX to JC with Zidian intentionally, then affirmed his emotional bind to him with her words.
There's also something to servitude (class) and servitude (wife) here but that may be me over reading at that point 🤭.
the flavors of gay thoughts and repression in wangxian are the most fun
LWJ: loud gay thoughts on the inside; enormity of my desire disgusts me; oh god he's hot oh no; repress repress repress; no one will know so long as I don't make eye contact with anyone ever again, especially xiongzhang; my purpose in life is to be pure and noble, not be gay do crime; peace and tranquility, meditation and silence, once familiar, now empty, but at least they remain; I will simply be absent of desire as far as anyone is concerned and it will be fine;
WWX: gay thoughts but for the meme, they are universally true thoughts, regardless of gender, ok, shidi; if I flirt with everyone, no one will know that one man gets the True Flirt, including myself; if I keep moving and talking and laughing then I can live head empty no thoughts as fate intended; when you think about it, like when you really consider, like I'm just saying; look at me look at me look at me, need it need it need it; did I mention it was for the meme because it seems you are taking it seriously; why are you tying that, you won't even listen, what will you do to me~~
The pain wasn't the issue. Pain was a part of life, part of his training, his willful personality requiring discipline he lacked from the time on his own. The pain was fine, expected if not welcomed, a representation of his acceptance at Lotus Pier. It was a sign of investment from the Jiang: time and resources to shape him into a strong cultivator, a right hand man to Jiang Cheng worthy of their philanthropy when the time came, at the very least not a blemish on their sect lineage.
The issue was that Wei Ying needed to be unconscious. He needed the time spent away, in darkness, left from his body so it could heal while he wasn't there to hinder it. He could feel the tightness of his eyes, bloodshot with too much continuous time here, present, active. He needed his time to be nothing so that tomorrow he could attempt to be something.
A snippet from the fic doc I write in when I feel like shit. 😆
I don't think any protagonist can ever top Wei 'Yiling Laozu' Wuxian. No one is doing it like him. He is an icon. He can shoot arrows blindfolded. He is a prankster. He falls for a boy and decides immediately that he must have said boy's attention on him at all time. He is necromancer exacting his vengeance. He is just three years old. He is a flirt. He has his first kiss in his twenties. He does not remember your name. He does remember that one song his crush sang to him in a cave when he was injured and feverish. He is a sunshine boy. He survived the hell of hells. He died and was unhappily brought back to life. He's the bizarre genius, the miraculous hero, the force of the rebellion, the flower that blooms alone. He walks the single plank bridge alone. He is the awesome gay uncle who knows everything. He is a pretty boy. He is the most moral, steadfast person you know. He is just a man throwing flowers to his love. He rips his hard won talent out to repay a debt that never was. He is a sister's boy. He is an abuse survivor. He is an urban legend. He is one of the most handsome men of his time. He has so much trauma. He plants children like radishes. He threw the arrow he was shot with from a rooftop and killed someone. He is a talented musician. He is a scheming fox. He can drink you under the table. He is so fucking tired of this bullshit. He has probably long since burned his tastebuds with the spice he puts in his food. He is broke. He kisses skeletons on their hands in gratitude. He confesses his deep, abiding love in the middle of being held hostage. He attempts the impossible and succeeds. He is an untamed hero, standing against a world condemning the innocent. He is everything.
I know that some people dislike the trend in fanon where WWX is ditzy or oblivious, but (aside from specific instances) I generally support his self bimboificiation. You can be a bimbo and a genius. You can be brilliant in some ways and dumb as rocks in others. The freedom of enthusiastically consenting to someone stubborn, strong, and dominant to objectify you knowing with full trust that they know your whole, competent self and love it all. There is a balance there and I think that Wangxian, even in canon, hit it. It took time and experience, a helluva lot of trust development, to get there.
Let Wei Wuxian be taken care of, objectified, consensually minimized into the tiny, malleable, soft animal of a person he wants to be. The version he only barely got to be with his shijie - xianxian is only three - and immerses himself in full with his dutiful husband.
(Lan Wangji himself then able to push, pull, manipulate, force, coerce, degrade, pamper, control, etc etc the way he desires to -- consensually, with full trust that it will be received as the fiercely devoted love and care that it is.)
