my dad used to be an actuary and whenever I mention this to people they're like "oh what's an actuary" so I tell them it's Mr Incredible's day job (it is) but the truth is this answers incredibly little. they hardly know a thing about what an actuary does and yet they are satisfied with the image that gives them. they don't feel the need to ask for any more than that. this is good for me because I also actually do not know what an actuary does.
