Could you maybe possibly draw some Pines twins with wings please?
Decided to sketch this suggestion while listening to my lecture recordings and, uh... Might have gotten a bit carried away with ideas. This might have to be a new AU.
(This was an awesome suggestion, thanks anon! ^^)

Mabel and Dipper both have parrot wings. Specie depends on personality traits, not genetics, but they have such a strong and healthy bond that they still ended up similar. (Mabel has standard macaw wings because bright and colorful, while Dipper has African grey wings because those are among the most intelligent birds in existence.)
Stan has magpie wings, due to their perchance for stealing and also because they look dull normally, but are surprisingly colorful in the right light. Magpies are also surprisingly clever.
Ford has owl wings, or rather, a wing. Bill broke off one because heavy handed symbolism about taking away his freedom by taking his ability to fly. He's pretty morose about it. (After Weirdmageddon, Fiddleford helps him make a functioning prosthesis [because regaining his freedom and independence with the support of family and friends])
(Wendy has woodpecker wings, Fiddleford has canary wings [songbird so connected with music, and also because he was basically Ford's 'canary in the coal mine' in regards to Bill], Gideon is a dove, I don't know the rest.)
*Whispers* What if Soos has pigeon wings?
I was thinking pelican, duck, or pigeon actually, but not sure which. Pigeons are slightly dim, ducks are usually seen as friendly (since people feed them), and pelicans are large slightly goofy birds characterized as having big appetites. 🤔
What if Soos had parakeet wings since i remembered that if you put a covering on soos he falls asleep like a parakeet.....
Also valid point ☝️ (but we might be getting a few too many parrots)
Re: Wings: Maybe this strays too far from the theme, but I can see Pacifica with bat wings. Because bats are traditionally associated with evil, but are not inherently so, like her status as a Northwest. :V
Ohh, that's an interesting idea symbolically yeah! :o
At first I was thinking of making her have peacock wings, because they're flamboyant and stereotypically kept by rich people in gardens. But then I realized female's don't have interesting feathers. So, I started thinking of different kinds of songbirds. The stereotypical dainty and pretty bird kept in a too-small cage and more of an ornament than a companion.
Not sure if I'll go for animals other than birds, if I do I could imagine her looking quite elegant in white bat wings (albino or ghost bat maybe?). If her parents don't have bat wings, it could maybe even be a plot point that she's somewhat 'nocturnal' and way more comfortable in the dark, but her parents are forcing her to be out in daytime and bright light anyways so they can show her off, and it's creating some very unhealthy routines.
Also arguement for Bat Wing Pacifica, Bats are actually very social animals where they make strong family bonds but the Northwests twist that sense of family. They also are cuddly animals so imagine Pacifica just cuddling with the pine siblings when hanging out with them.
Literally hanging (from the ceiling).
But no, this is also a really neat addition. I can def see Pacifica being lonely and touch starved due to her family, even more than normal.

Some quick Wings!Pacifica sketches to try out my two favorite suggestions. If we're gonna go with everyone being a bird, I think I'll have to go for flamingo. But I think I might honestly prefer the bat look, and that had more symbolic implications story-wise.
(Person who originally sent the wings prompt) I had no idea that my little prompt would turn into such a fantastic au! You're so very talented and you've done wonders with this idea! I'm so glad it inspired you and has brought joy to so many people! Fantastic job! You made something simply wonderful and divine! I hope you have a lovely day! -🪶
Thank you! I didn't expect this idea to grow so much either. You had a really fun idea, I'm happy I got to build on it. 💙
And, with everyone else who's left suggestions about wing types and other ideas, this is almost like a bit of a group project. That's really fun! ^^
Your wing au is SOOO GOOD! Are characters' wings representative of their personalities only on a meta-level or is it also in-universe, a la His Dark Materials? If the latter, are people born with their wings, thereby implying a certain level of predestination in this AU??
Oh man, I did not think this through before. At first I really just wanted a justification for making the (supposedly) identical twins have different wings. But now that I think about it, it could be cool to go in either direction.
One idea could be that everyone is born without wings or with plain solid colour and they "grow into" their wings as their personality grows. Colours gradually changing with each molt as new personality traits become more prominent. That might also create the potential for someone's wings changing completely though character development.
But it might also be narratively interesting if people are born with their finished wings through some kind of predestination. Not so much that their personality depends on the wings, but more that whatever force assigns them knows which type will eventually be fitting.
Imagine someone being unhappy because their wings don't "fit them" and they feel like they were born with the "wrong pair", but really they just haven't grown into them yet. They haven't discovered/accepted that part of themselves yet. Or, conversely, imagine someone growing up fearful over what their wings might imply for their future. Stan could maybe fit both these ideas. Corvids are known for being smart, but he feels like he's always the dumb one so he must have been born wrong and now everyone is expecting things of him that he can't do. Or, since magpies are stereotyped as stealing, he's scared of the implications that he'll grow up into a criminal/everyone assumes he already is.
Honestly, anyone of you guys feel free to come up with your own ideas. I'd love to hear them. ^^

Owl!Ford and Magpie!Stan from @gobblewanker's Wings AU! Not colored because I suck at coloring. (Technically, Ford should only have one wing, but I just felt like drawing two owl wings, so here we are.)

Part 1 of a small comic thingy I wanted to make of Ford trying out the robotic prothesis from the wings au, and Stan helping. ^^'
Oh man. Do you think Stan would clip his wings to prevent himself from flying, since in canon he is afraid of heights, or wouldn’t he be in the wing au?
I do like the idea that he'd still be scared of heights, because that's a really interesting conflict for someone who can fly 🤔
But I still think he'd want to keep his wings intact just in case he'd need them. I think a lot of the time he won't really use them if there are other alternatives, but he'd still want the option. Heights would feel less scary if he knows he can catch himself instead of just plummeting.
Wing clipping is an interesting idea though, maybe that's something that was done to him when he was in prison? Or maybe by a criminal associate? To stop him escaping. Wing feathers generally return after a molt, so it wouldn't keep him grounded permanently. But maybe that's where his fear of heights comes from? Feeling powerless from back when he couldn't fly.
Might also make him even more sympathetic towards Ford's plight.
The comic is super cool and amazing. I know it’s a serious moment but Stan still not liking heights brings up the funnest mental imagine. Like him just fluttering 10 feet max off the ground when he does fly. 😅
That's pretty much it yeah 😆
Unless he has a very good reason (say... Saving his dumb brother from a giant floating pyramid castle, or getting his niece's beloved pet back from an airborne dinosaur) he'd prefer to just walk. Or drive? I wonder if owning a car might be kind of uncommon in this AU? 🤔
Oh, I like this idea! Though I feel like Stan would have gotten his wings back to working order before Weirdmageddon.
Maybe Ford figured out flying first when they were kids, while Stan was slower to get the hang of it. Maybe their dad was frustrated by Stan not being able to figure it out, and inadvertently traumatized him into being scared of flying by holding him over the edge of the roof or something? Like how some actual birds teach their babies to fly by kicking them out of the nest and hoping for the best.
Ford teaches him to fly when they're kids, he makes it feel safe again. But only when Ford is with him.
After Weirdmageddon, the roles are reversed and Stan has to be the one teaching Ford to fly all over again.
Oh man. Do you think Stan would clip his wings to prevent himself from flying, since in canon he is afraid of heights, or wouldn’t he be in the wing au?

I have suggestion on Winged au Pacifica (you don't have to feel inclined to draw it, it's just a thought). How about if she had peacock wings? Not really based on her personality, but off the fact that in the show, her family owns a bunch of them.
I did actually consider this! Partially because of her family owning peacocks, but also because of the stereotype that peacocks are pompous and haughty. But then I remembered only male peacocks have the really interesting feathers :/

(I drew it anyways)
I wasn't sure if it was weird to give her tailfeathers when I didn't do that for anyone else, but those feathers are the most interesting looking one. It might also be a fun idea to have her flare them when startled/trying to look intimidating.
Alright, since the WIngs AU has already become so much of a group effort: Help me decide on what type of wings Pacifica should have because I really can't make up my mind.
Use the Strawpoll here

Peacock: Stereotyped as elegant, yet pompous and proud. Use tailfeathers for intimidation.
Flamingo: Stereotyped as somewhat energetic and vain, but also bright and colorful.
Bat: Nocturnal, associated with evil despite being harmless, close family bonds.

Wanted to get a quick-ish drawing of Wings AU Ford done before logging off for the night, to figure out the colors of his prothesis.
I'd imagine that the metal frame is stainless steel (can't have it rust out at sea) while the "feathers" are some kind of lightweight plastic. The ball-joints allow for movement in more directions than just up and down.
The prothesis is attached under the sweater with some kinds of straps for ease of removal (can't imagine it'd be very comfortable to sleep with it on.)
Here's a thought. Dove wings for pacifica. Why? - Domesticated (ooh, that could tie in to the whole bell deal) birds, but believed to be superior to their fellow pigeons due to their coloring. - Pun on her name (peace dove) - Maybe once she comes around to being herself, in her next molt she grows common pigeon feathers instead (or even bronze wing pigeon wings? simultaneously dull and stunning!)
Oooh, also very cool ideas!
I think what won the poll was flamingo, but all of these ideas are so great. 💙
How about kid Stan and Ford in your wings au?

Aaand I'm finally back to the 500 follower requests (just three more to go)
