liu yangyang of wayv (eek yay) x fem!reader
💌 part of the soft !hobbies with wayv! series im currently writing.. just mini stories abt wayv and their favorite things + their fav girl (you, duh). more soon~!
w.c. 882! so.. about 5-7 minutes of ur time hehe
content - fluff + hurt-comfort, long-distance bf!yangyang, reader is referred to as "girlfriend" "pretty girl" & "princess", mild cursing, winwin = sicheng, yangyang lives in germany for this one lol, (for like one sec) BASKETBALL BF YANGYANG:3

get a girlfriend, they said. it'll be fun, they said.
and it is... most of the time.
but right now, yangyang thinks it's the least fun it has ever been… owing to your current study abroad.
you didn’t want to take it, not really– what would happen to you and him? but he insisted because god, if it wasn’t a good ass opportunity for you and your dream job.
so, you sniffled your way through the security line at the airport, and yangyang always wakes up wishing it was already the next day, just so he’d be one day closer to your homecoming.
and at this very moment?
he’s here on the phone with you, recalling his afternoon spent with sicheng. hoping that maybe this time you wouldn’t fall asleep because of the time difference.
“hm. he sounds really bad, babe.” you say sleepily into the phone and yangyang feels that familiar ache in his chest he’s learned comes with missing you.
“he was! he really was!” the male responds, letting out a soft sigh.
he shifts around his bed, finding comfort as he settles into the space where you would usually be. the darkness of his bedroom feels like it's enveloping him in more ways than one tonight. “i was actually cooking him...”
yangyang pauses when he hears you yawn on the other line and then the rustling of what must be you snuggling more deeply into your blanket.
it’s barely 7pm in germany but it’s already a little past midnight at your over 5,000 mile away dorm. he knows you must be struggling to stay awake and in his most logical mind, he should be letting his pretty girl go to sleep.
but when you mumble, “why’d you stop, baby? keep going..” he can’t help but give into his want to keep talking to you.
“i took this kind of long shot, y/n... it’s called a 2-pointer.. i swear, if you had seen it, you would’ve been like, ‘what the hell?’ because it was really that cool…”
“i wish i could’ve seen it too, yangie.” your voice carries a hint of wistfulness even through the phone and yangyang’s stomach twists at the thought of you missing him too.
“me too... it’s a lot more fun for me when you’re watching me play. you know that, right, princess?”
“really?” you sound so sweetly hopeful and yangyang’s smile is almost audible as he replies, his tone warm and affectionate. “yeah, dummy. you make everything more fun.”
“and?” you say suspiciously and he laughs a little. “i mean… i get my own personal cheerleader…”
you groan despite your boyfriend now laughing for real at his own lame joke. he's cute and it makes it hard for you to keep a straight face, but alas, you persist.
“you have such an ego on you, liu yangyang,” you roll your eyes, forgetting he can’t see you do it. “and you're corny too. it is so over for you when sicheng gets good at basketball… or gets a girlfriend…”
“oh shit!” yangyang’s laughter fades into a sudden excitement that rings out over your speakerphone. “i forgot to tell you… unless… you’re already halfway asleep..?” his voice takes on a slightly mischievous tone, tugging you out of your drowsy haze.
“ugh, you’re dumbbbbb,” you whine, playfully dragging out the syllable in feigned annoyance.
but safe to say, your curiosity is piqued despite the heaviness of your eyelids.
“what is it?" you ask.
"wait. tell me you love me first," yangyang demands earnestly and you gawk at the unexpected request through the line.
"oh, you're crazy."
"what? i can't ask my girlfriend to tell me that she loves me?" your boyfriend teases, and for once, you're glad for the distance between you two, knowing he would've been all over the blush quickly creeping up your neck and cheeks.
"i just don't wanna blow up your already huge ego," you defend and he snickers.
"how about you tell me first," you hum quietly, fiddling with the edge of your blanket.
you wonder if he can detect the hopefulness in your voice-- you'd never admit it but you actually really do want to hear those words from him right now, the thought making you feel all glowy inside and suddenly shy at the prospect of turning his request back on him.
"yeah, okay." yangyang agrees easily. "i love you."
at those three words, you can't help the smile that blooms across your features or the way your tummy starts swarming with butterflies. is it a confession you've heard many times over? yes. does the amount of times you hear it do anything to calm the way your heart beats quaint with longing? no, never.
"make sure you're not meeting any hot singles who can cook, ok? i want you to come home to me," yangyang continues his sentiments to you. he keeps his tone light but you think the subtle crack at the end of his sentence gives him away. "i miss you a lot."
"i won't! i love you, too. so much." you admit in a rush, hoping your boyfriend can't sense the dull ache tinged in your words.
for a moment, you almost say that without him, you wouldn't really have a home to return to.

~~~~~~~
You sighed putting the last book in your locker before walking to your next class and sitting down on your usual seat. The teacher soon entered the class too and started collecting the assignments that were due today. You took the paper out of your bag and handed it to him, your mind drifting back to the same person once again. You couldn't focus in class. Not when the only thing you could think of was him.
Soon, it was lunch break and you followed your friends to a random table. Instead of engaging in the conversation your friends had, you decided to scan the area of the cafeteria looking for him.
You spotted him walking in, along with his group of friends. He laughed at something he said, he probably had just teased them, because one of them pretended to pull his ear, while another one pinched his arm causing him to let out an 'ow', but to laugh afterwards. They sat down on a table far from yours, meaning you couldn’t look at him clearly without making it obvious that you did, so you looked back at your food.
Your friend sitting next to you, nudged you softly with a knowing look and you shyly smiled before looking away. Your crush was so obvious, you never really felt the need to hide it.
However, despite your crush on the boy, you had never really talked with him. You were close with his friend Winwin though. You were paired for a project in the past and you got an A. He was a great partner. You continued to be friends after that, greeting each other when you bump in the hallways.
After getting that A, you went out to celebrate and you paid for the both of you, even if he refused, so he offered to go out again and paid that time instead. But your friendship with Winwin didn’t stop you from developing a small crush on his friend.
When you and Winwin went out, he had talked about his friends and from what he said about Yangyang, he seemed like a very nice guy. Your friends always told you to try and become closer to Winwin, so that you could talk with Yangyang more, but you refused to do that.
You felt like you’d use Winwin if you hid your crush from him, but also didn’t want to tell him in fear that he'd tell Yangyang. Winwin seems trustworthy, but he is closer to Yangyang, so it would make sense if he told him about your crush. In any case you ignored your friends and decided to let your crush only be a crush from afar.
Lunch break would soon be over, so you and your friends collected your things, walking towards the exit of the cafeteria along with a few other groups of students. Coincidentally, the group right behind yours was Yangyang's friend group.
You felt a tap on your shoulder and turned around to meet Winwin’s eyes. You smiled at him letting out a small 'hi', suddenly feeling shy being around his whole group of friends and especially Yangyang.
"Hey, how have you been?" He politely asked. "Good. Well... a little stressed, because of homework, but other than that I've been doing okay. How about you?" You asked and he sighed. "I'm stressed too, especially with the exams coming up. I'm also preparing for a dance competition, which adds up to my stress." He said and you nodded in understanding. "You shouldn't worry about any of these. You're a great student and you dance so well. I'm sure you'll do great." You complimented and he shyly smiled. "Thank you." He said and avoided your gaze. "I have to run to my locker before class, so I'll see you around?" You asked and he nodded. "Yeah, see you around" he said and both of your groups parted ways.
Your friends all looked at you with raised eyebrows and you scolded them because 'Stop, Winwin might see you'.
"Uh, who was that?" Hendery asked Winwin. "(Y/n). We worked on a group project in the past." He replied.
"Is it just me or were you guys flirting?" Ten said with a teasing smile. "Ah no, we are just friends." He said and Ten laughed. "That's was they all say". But they all failed to notice how Yangyang reacted seeing Winwin talk to you.
He had stopped paying attention to what the others said as soon as he heard you and Winwin talk. Unlike Hendery, Yangyang remembered exactly who you were. He remembered the day Winwin told them he couldn’t meet them, because he was working on that project with you. When they texted later, the way Winwin talked about you made you seem like an amazing person, so he looked up your profile. He remembers thinking ‘Wow I wish my project partner was this pretty. No scratch that. I wish my project partner was her.’
However Yangyang hid his crush on you from everyone, preferring to just admire you from afar when you weren't looking. He was pretty sure you liked Winwin anyways. When he heard you compliment him on his grades and his dancing he felt his heart clenching.
He could always just ask Winwin to bring you and your friends to hang out with them so that he would get to talk with you but 1) his friends would tease him for his crush 2) you’d probably only talk with Winwin.
He sighed, walking into class and daydreamed about talking to you, going out with you, maybe even holding your hand
He tried to think of a way to get to talk to you. First he had to make sure you didn’t have a crush on Winwin. And once he was sure, then he could plan out his move of asking you out.
At the same time, your friends were convinced you had lied about your crush on Yangyang and had a crush on Winwin instead, but were too shy to tell them.
"You are a great student and you dance so well, oh my god Winwin you're so dreamy" one of them mocked you and you sighed. "I don’t have a crush on Winwin. I like Yangyang." You said and they scoffed.
"Well then don’t expect him to like you back, if you flirt with Winwin in front of him," they said and they were right. It did look like you were flirting with him. But you weren't. And Winwin knows it. And he will tell them. Right?
"You have to ask him out". "Woah are you crazy? I can’t just ask him out, out of the blue" you said. "Yes you can. Or just ask Winwin for help." Another one said and you sighed. "Noo, Winwin will tell Yangyang." You whined.
"This is good. Because if Yangyang likes you back then Winwin will urge you to ask him out too. If he doesn’t he will seem hesitant, which will be good because you won’t get rejected directly. So in any case it's a good thing to ask Winwin for help." They reasoned.
Well, they did have a point.
"Okay, I'll ask Winwin for help. I'll text him to meet today and I'll tell him. Because, if I text him, he will have proof, whilst if I tell him face to face, I can just deny it and he will have no proof." You said making your friends facepalm, but to you, your plan was perfect.
You texted Winwin, asking him if he was up for a coffee today and he agreed, since he didn’t have dance classes that day.
"Where are you going?" Kun asked when Winwin started collecting his things. "(Y/n) texted me and asked me to meet, so we will go out." He replied. "And then you say you guys aren’t flirting. I'm sure she will confess today." Ten said and Winwin sighed.
"No, she won’t." He said putting his phone in his pocket. "Let's bet!" Hendery said and Winwin shook his head. "Okay, 20 bucks. If she confesses you gotta pay up. If she doesn’t.... well she will so we don’t even have to consider this an option" Ten said. "Fine." Winwin said knowing that if you really wanted to confess you would have done it a long time ago. He wasn’t an idiot to turn down 20 bucks from Ten, plus the annoyed look on his face after losing.
Winwin and you sat down on the table. You luckily managed to find one near the window. The conversation flowed naturally, like it always did, until you decided it was time to ask him what you were meant to ask him all along.
“So… I kinda wanted to ask you something today” You said and Winwin’s breath hitched. ‘Oh no. Does she really want to confess? Do I have to pay Ten now? What do I do?’ he thought.
“Sure, ask ahead” he said and you sighed before saying. “I kinda like… Yangyang…” which made Winwin widen his eyes. ‘So she didn’t want to confess? So I don’t have to pay Ten? SHE LIKES YANGYANG?’ He was relieved on one hand but on the other hand he panicked.
“Oh… Wow...” he trailed off making you look down at your coffee, playing around with the straw.
“Yeah, I mean, I don’t really know him that well, but he seems nice and from what you said he probably is very nice indeed, so I kinda like him and my friends are telling me to ask him out, but I’m pretty sure he barely knows I exist and then they suggested I ask for your help, so here I am.” You rambled but Winwin’s expression didn’t change one bit.
“I… I don’t really know, he hasn’t mentioned you before. But I could indirectly ask him about you?” He added quickly seeing your expression form to one of disappointment.
“No, it will make it too obvious. Just forget what I said, okay?” You said and he shook his head.
“They know we met up and they will definitely ask me about you later. So I could somehow ask about their opinions on you in general and will tell you what Yangyang said.” He said and you sighed.
“I don’t know, Winwin…” you trailed off. “I will do this and I’ll tell you. I know Yangyang well.” He said and then tried to change the subject, feeling bad for making you feel disappointed.
The next time Winwin met up with his friends, which was the next day at school, he decided to tease Ten about the bet. He walked up to his group of friends, with a 20 in his hand. Ten screeched loudly, making a few people turn to look at him, but he didn’t care.
“(Y/n) confessed something when we met up.” He said, his eyes flickering momentarily to Yangyang to catch his reaction. He was surprised to see him look down as soon as the words left Winwin’s mouth.
“I KNEW IT” Ten screeched again but Winwin raised his hand up to stop him. “She confessed that in fact she doesn’t see me that way, as she likes someone else. Too bad, now I’ll have to have double the amount of my money.” He said, pushing the 20 in front of Ten’s dropped jaw.
“No. We didn’t agree on that. We said you pay me if you lose and didn’t talk about what happens if you win, because I didn’t think you’d actually win.” He said, but Kun shook his head at him.
“Ten, you have to be fair. Now pay up.” He said making Winwin smile. He looked at Yangyang who seemed to be deep in thought.
“You seem to be disappointed. Did you also think (y/n) liked me?” Winwin said to Yangyang, when the two of them walked to their shared class. “No, don’t worry, I’m fine.” He said but it was obvious he lied.
“What do you think about (y/n)?” Winwin asked making Yangyang pause. “She seems nice, I guess.” He said and avoided Winwin’s gaze. “Do you perhaps… like her a little bit?” He carefully asked, making Yangyang snap his head to look at him. “Who told you that? That’s a lie.” He said a little too quickly.
“Yangyang, it’s okay if you like her. You can ask her out. I promise she doesn’t like me.” He said and Yangyang shook his head. “But you told Ten she said she likes someone.” He said, making Winwin smile because he practically admitted to liking you.
“Yeah, but what if that someone is you. She was reluctant to tell me, so what if it’s because she knows we are friends and is afraid I’ll tell you?” he said, laughing internally at the irony of his words.
“I don’t want to get my hopes up, Winwin. She barely knows me, how could she like me?” he said and Winwin shook his head. “The same way you like her. You barely know her too.” He reasoned and Yangyang sighed. “I don’t know…” he trailed off and the conversation died, because their teacher walked in class.
Winwin texted you to meet him at lunch, but discretely, so that Yangyang didn’t see the two of you talking. You anxiously waited until lunch break and met him at your locker, which was far from the cafeteria.
“Ask him out.” He simply said making you let out a sound of surprise and cover his mouth. “Dude, could you be any louder?” You said looking around to see if someone was around. Thankfully no one was.
“Does that mean he likes me?” You whispered, but wasn’t able to reply as your hand was still covering his mouth. He raised his hand to remove your own from his face, making you apologise. “I think he’ll say yes.” He said making you frown. “You think? So you’re not sure?” you said making him whine.
“I can’t tell you because Yangyang is my friend and I have to keep secrets, but yes, he does like you. But he won’t ask you out because he isn’t confident either and this would go on forever because both of you are cowards, so just get the balls and ask him out.” He said childishly stomping his foot, making you giggle.
You engulfed him in your arms and squeezed him, giving him a kiss on the cheek. “Thank you, thank you, thank you” you said running to tell your friends, before stopping in your tracks.
“Try to get him to stay behind after school. I’ll come up to the two of you and you will then leave and I’ll ask him out then, okay?” You said to Winwin, but didn’t wait for an answer, seeing him stand there in shock holding the cheek you kissed.
Classes seemed to go by way faster now, as you were so excited about asking Yangyang out.
You spotted the two of them on your way out and walked up to them to greet them. “Hi guys.” You said making Yangyang jump. “Oh sorry didn’t mean to scare you” you said placing a hand on his shoulder, making him melt. “It’s fine” he said avoiding your gaze.
“Hey, can I talk to you for a second? Alone?” You asked Yangyang but he didn’t reply. He then raised his head in confusion. “Were you talking to me?” he asked making you and Winwin chuckle. “Yes” you confirmed and he gulped. “Uh, sure” he said glaring at Winwin who waved at him and left with a knowing smile.
“So, Yangyang…. I’ve been meaning to tell you something.” You said and he sighed afraid that Winwin told you about his crush and that you’d turn him down. “I kinda like you and I was wondering if you would wanna go out sometime?” you said hopefully making him choke on nothing.
“Wait, seriously?” he said in disbelief. “Yeah, I’ve liked you for a while now.” You said your confidence level dropping the more it took him to answer.
“I’ve liked you for quite some time too. And I’d love to go out with you. Ugh I can’t believe you asked me out first. I wanted to ask you out too, but I was too afraid you’d reject me.” He confessed and you chuckled.
“It’s okay. I was afraid too. But turns out I had no reason to worry” you said and he smiled. “Yeah. You had absolutely no reason to worry.” He said, wrapping an arm around your shoulders walking towards the exit.
- You know that most of it is harmless so most of the time you play along
- If however, YangYang steps over the line then you have no choice but to punish him
- Punishments can include but not limited to: spanking, denial, overstimulation, extreme pain play or even non sexual punishments like more chores or no dessert
- YangYang is very experimental and is always willing to try new things
- Needs variety in his life in order to stay sane
- Experimental in the bedroom because there isn't a kink he isn't willing to try, ovby if he tries one and doesn’t like it then he will tell you but his hard limits list is quite small
- Likes to be kept on his toes and not know what’s gonna happen next
- Probs the most experimental out of the bunch
- “You never know unless you try” is his motto
- Doesn’t like service submission so he always tries to get out of it
"Hey, uh... hello? You've reached Neo Therapy Practitioners, this is Jisung speaking!
Oh, you wanted to schedule with us? Sounds good! And who will you be visiting today?"
— Let’s face it, this whole adulting thing? Shit fucking sucks. Working from nine to five as a corporate slave for the next forty years until you’re rendered obsolete isn't exactly what you'd consider a fulfilling lifestyle. Between a ridiculous workload, an asshole supervisor, and an inexplicable amount of failed dates— it’s fair to say that you were one minor inconvenience away from committing arson.
That changes for the better when your coworker refers you to Dr. Lee at Neo Therapy Practitioners. A complex with a multitude of services to provide. Ranging from chiropractic adjustment, to beauty services, to even a practice as niche as aromatherapy? You find yourself dabbling in each of these services to unwind from all the stress, gaining confidence and relaxation in the process.
You unfortunately learn nothing in life is without consequence, however. When you end up in certain "situations" with each provider— you think you may have bit off just a little more than you can chew. But hey, beauty is pain, right?
♡ session 4: sugar, spice, n' good advice!
[ “I see her everywhere. She’s the early morning rain, the neglected cup of coffee sitting on the bathroom sink, and kind words from a stranger when you need them the most. I am used to seeing those traces of her, and, more often than not, it is I who seek them. But, when I’m with you, her memory gets the slightest bit fainter and that’s really nice.” ]
pairing: renjun x reader
summary: After your last appointment, you find out the origin of the pleasant smelling oils used during your massage: the handsome Mr. Huang working just across the hall. You discover through research that he’s a popular Aromatherapist in your area, and that he’s known particularly for his expertise in treating work-related stress. Perfect! You discover that he’s the complete opposite of what you had gotten with the emotionless masseuse, Jaemin; he is kind-hearted, gentle, and a wonderful listener. So it’s no surprise that after only a few sessions, you’re falling hard for sweet Renjun—with disastrous consequences.
summary: If someone were to ask you if the glass was half-full or half-empty, you’d simply answer by bashing the glass against their head. You were not rolling with the punches, life throwing one thing after another with no signs of stopping. It’s so bad that Haechan finds a whole patch of white hairs forming at your scalp. Entering a quarter life crisis, you make your way to Neo Therapy’s highly acclaimed hair stylist as quickly as possible.
Now enter the eccentric—and painfully awkward—Mark Lee. While he doesn’t know a lot of things, he seems to know just how to fix you up. But while you’re stuck in his chair, you discover that he also has a knack for pissing you off. And what does a sane person do when they lose their cool? Step on a man’s cock, of course!
♡ session 6 (FINALE): face your fears
– by guanana
[ "You don't always have to do things on your own, you know. I'm always gonna be here for you." ]
pairing: ? x reader
summary: You would think after all of the dollars you've invested into Neo Therapy Practitioners, you'd be much better off than how you started both physically and mentally. That's not the case though— you'd say you've gotten even worse.
After the trials and tribulations you've suffered from at the hands of the dastardly attractive men, you decide it's time to throw in the towel and accept that this 'treat yourself' shtick just isn't for you.
At least, that's what you had planned until you receive a call from the person you'd least expect. And just maybe, it might be what you've needed all along.
— prologue
“Yeah, the fish was bigger than my forearm! Little prick nearly took me overboard, so you’re honestly lucky to be sitting in my presence today.” Your blind date guffaws, taking an obnoxiously loud sip of his wine.
You tried to be attentive, you really did. It isn’t often that you actually go out on dates, but when one of your ‘girlfriends’ offered to set you up with her “charming and well-mannered” coworker, you decided that it would be good to get out of the house for a while and enjoy yourself. However, this wasn’t exactly what you had in mind. Fortunately it doesn’t take long for you to see this man for who he truly is: a complete and total jack off.
Kevin Moon, on paper, is everything that a woman could ask for in a partner. He has a stable, high-paying job, and he makes enough money for you to step down from your position at the office and take care of the house. For an office man, he’s not exactly lacking in the looks department either, bragging that he works out daily to maintain his physique. When you ask him why he agreed to go on a date with you, however, his answer strikes you as more than a little off-putting. “Honestly??” He traces a finger along the circumference of a dinner plate, not breaking eye contact with you. “I was told that you have a bangin’ body. Needless to say, I wasn’t disappointed by that assessment.”
Your heart sinks to the bottom of your seat, watching a wolfish grin overtake his handsome face. Of course your friend didn’t say something like ‘Oh, she has an admirable work ethic’ or even a simple ‘She’s beautiful, I think you would like her.’ She has reduced you to the shell you inhabit without so much as trying. You squirm uncomfortably under his gaze, “Ah, I see…” You hum absentmindedly, trying to focus on anything but the man in front of you.
“Say,” He trails a suggestive hand across the table, grazing your own that rests next to your barely touched food. Having opted for the salad as your appetizer after he shot you a rather judgmental stare when you asked the waitress for fried calamari. Remembering the way he had spoken over you, taking on a snappy tone with the young lady. “Why don’t we take this back to my place?”
The logical thing to do would be to pack your things and leave this bastard high and dry. But you did tell your friend that you would give him a chance, that you were ready to get back into the game.
Your mind trails back to your time with Dr. Lee Jeno, your chiropractor who had shown you that there was nothing wrong with casual sex. While you enjoyed it and had gone back for seconds, thirds, and even more– the both of you had agreed that you were simply in different places in life right now. He was much too work oriented to make time for a relationship, and you were in pursuit of something more stable. Agreeing that your relationship held no depth aside from great sexual chemistry in bed.
An index finger traces down your knuckle, bringing your attention back to the man across from you. He tries a bit too hard to flash you some bedroom eyes, looking like he just ate an edible whole rather than looking desirable. Rather than subtly biting his lip, the man was just chowing down on the flesh.
The bar must be in hell. Because in retrospect, the next words that come out in your mouth could’ve easily stayed within the burner of your mind. With a heavy sigh, you decide to throw the dog a bone.
“Sure, let’s go.”
—-
“God damn,” Kevin groans after pulling out of you. Rolling and splatting back flat onto his king-sized bed with fast paced breaths. Popping off the used condom and tossing it into the trash bin near his dresser. “You’re amazing.”
You really wished you could say the same, but you couldn’t lie to save your life. Mr. Moon was subpar, and that was being generous. The man has not mastered the motion of the ocean, and was a two-pump chump at that. Bland, boring, and overall textbook sex has you regretting ever agreeing to a night out with him.
If it was bound to go nowhere, you wouldn’t have had that much of a problem. Never one to set your expectations so high as to not set yourself up for disappointment. But was it really too much to ask for a basic understanding of human anatomy? He couldn’t locate your clit to save his life, and that’s not even the worst part.
You didn’t even get a free meal out of this. The son of a bitch grinning at you cheesily back at the restaurant, shame apparent when he tells you that he’s ‘forgotten his wallet.’
Looking up at his ceiling, you refuse to look him in the eye. You’re especially ashamed of yourself for settling. If you wanted dick that badly, Jeno could’ve easily just fucked you until you literally couldn’t think properly.
Kevin watches you worriedly when you pick yourself up, redressing yourself and patting yourself down. Wordless when you collect your bag from the coat rack. “Heading out already?” He asks.
“Yeah.” You reply dryly when you make your way down the stairs, Kevin following closely with his now flaccid dick swinging with every step. God, he’s shameless.
“I mean, did you want to spend the night?” He clears his throat.
“I’m alright,” Your hand is already on the door handle, ready to head home to cleanse yourself of tonight’s sins. “I’ve got an early morning tomorrow.”
“Could I see you another day, then? Maybe Friday night?”
It takes everything in you to not sneer at his audacity when he tries to grab at your wrist. Seeking solace in biting your cheek. If it was up to you, you’d never see him ever again.
“I’m going to have a late night, I won’t be able to make it.”
“Saturday then?”
You blink at him slowly, almost appalled when he doesn’t get the hint.
“...Sunday?”
Oh, brother.
“You know what?” You say, twisting the door handle before taking a step out. Secondhand embarrassment running heavily through your veins when he follows you out, bare ass out for his neighbors to see if they were to look outside. “I’ll keep you posted.”
His lips form into a disappointed ‘o.’ “Uh, text me?”
“Yeah, something like that.” And with that, you were gone with the wind.
––
You’re late.
That much is apparent as you walk into the private room rented by your group of friends, voicing an apology upon your late arrival. You rush toward the open chair, frazzled as you drape your coat and bag across the top. Nobody found it important enough to wait on you before starting on their meals, save for Yeri who greeted you when you took your place next to her. “It’s really, really nice to see you.” Her voice is sweet and her smile warm, you can already feel your nerves begin to melt away.
“You too, it’s been way too long.” You murmur, pulling her into a side hug. You mean it; out of all of the people in attendance, Yeri was the only person you could truly call your friend. She always made sure to keep you in the loop, extending hang outs to you even when the others hadn’t. “I hope you’ve been well.”
A nasally voice from across the table interrupts your conversation, painted lips pulling into a veneered grin. “Ya-da, ya-da. I don’t know about everyone else, but I for one would really like to hear how that date with Kevin from HR went.”
Of course she would. The owner of the voice, Rianne, sat opposite of you at the large table. She was the one who contacted you about the date in the first place, assuring you that he was the perfect gentleman. However, the triumphant look in her eyes revealed the truth– she absolutely knew exactly what she had thrown you into…and now she wants to hear you recount your failure in front of everyone.
“It went alright.” You take a long drink of your water, swallowing down your pride along with an ice cube or two.
Her eyes were predatory as she watched you swallow, “Oh, that’s lovely! Are you going on a second date? You were all he could talk about in the office yesterday.”
And suddenly you’re choking, water going down entirely the wrong way. “Really?” You manage between coughs. “What– what did he say?”
“He said that you were so eager,” Rianne hid her smiling mouth behind a napkin, eyes betraying her amusement. “You couldn’t seem to keep your hands to yourself.” Your jaw slacks at the audacity, but before you have the chance to defend yourself she cuts you off with a giggle. “I can’t say I blame you, though. He is quite handsome, you make such a lovely couple.”
Fire courses through your veins, “We’re not a couple. He was nice, but I honestly don’t think I’m ready for a relationship right now. I don’t have any plans to see him again.”
A few of the girls gasp at your words, whispers erupting from each corner. Rianne’s eyes widen comically, letting out a feigned gasp of her own. “But, you can’t keep waiting forever! Face it dear, you’re not exactly getting any younger.”
You bite down on the tip of your tongue, trying hard to keep from giving her a piece of your mind. Luckily for you, Yeri is there in an instant, hands wrapping daintily around your forearm. “That’s enough, I think.” She reprimands, voice loud enough for everyone at the table to hear over the chatter. Then, she turns to you with a twinkle in her eyes. “Now, who wants dessert?”
The discourse ended just as soon as it began with much gratitude owed to Yeri’s intervention. Now that dessert has been passed around the table and the conversations have taken a better turn, you finally find time to relax. The atmosphere is far lighter, and even Rianne cannot keep from enjoying herself despite her loss. Soon, the attention of the whole table has been gathered, another one of your peers rising to their feet to speak. “As everyone already knows, our very own Yeri is getting married next month!”
The entire room erupts into cheers, Yeri bashfully curling into your side. You remember hearing about that! Her big, shiny engagement ring was the only thing taking up your instagram feed for at least a week. “This is so wonderful,” The same friend gushes. “Let’s hear some more details from the beautiful bride!”
“Well,” The bride-to-be begins, not even bothering to rise to her feet. “The color scheme for my bridesmaids will incorporate the red gowns I have already sent to the group chat.”
“Question, are we allowed to bring a plus one for this event? My fiance is on his way back from France on the private jet as we speak.” One of the ladies interrupts from the opposite end of the table, studying her perfectly manicured nails, trying to bring everyone’s attention to the rock presiding on her ring finger. Shameless. “I need to let him know these things so that he can have his secretary plan accordingly.”
Your eye involuntarily twitches as annoyance courses through your veins at light speed, unsettling your stomach. Of course this was going to be a popularity contest, a dimwitted battle of the dates. What else would it be about? You knew that Yeri came from money, but at least she was humble about it. As for the rest of them, all they care about is their material possessions and comparing the arm candy they’ve managed to secure within the last week. In response to your intense emotions, one of your hands ball up the fabric of your pencil skirt.
Yeri nods in response to her friend’s question, “Yes, plus ones are welcome! Just let me know so we can have enough food for everyone!”
All of the women seem to speak at once, each describing their plans for hair and nails, as well as the various men they’re thinking about inviting to the wedding. You attentively listen in on each of their conversations, trying to gauge where you stand in the midst of it all. To your surprise, it seems as though you’re the only person in turmoil about this. Unlike them, you have no date and you hadn’t even thought about the possibility that you would need one.
Rianne’s voice rises above the chatter, “Yeah, I have a date, too! He’s the sexiest guy in the whole office, everyone wants him, but he wants me.” She boasts, pressing her chest against the table, breasts nearly spilling from her blouse.
Well what do you know, she tricked someone into liking her? Pity. Honestly you couldn’t understand Rianne’s appeal. Sure she’s gorgeous, but when age finally claims her beauty, what will she have left? Certainly it wouldn’t be her winning personality… “--what about you?”
“What?”
“I said,” Rianne sucks her teeth at your inattentiveness. “It seems like everyone here has a date, what about you?” She cuts you off before you’re able to counter her, corners of her mouth downturned with artificial sympathy. “Oh yeah, you’re ‘not ready for a relationship’ right now. That’s okay, someone has to be there to watch the kids, right?”
Oh fuck no. “You’re sorely mistaken. I said I wasn’t ready for a relationship, not that I didn’t have a date.”
Her perfectly arched brows shoot up, “Oh really?”
Your mouth runs dry, but you try your best to keep a neutral expression. “Well, not exactl–”
“Who’s the lucky guy? Do we know him?” She leans in even closer. Any sign of surprise leaves her face, contempt reclaiming her features. It was well known that Rianne had to get the last word in any scuffle, so it was no surprise when she drove you into a corner. Putting words in your mouth to paint you as a charity case.
When your mouth clamps shut at the shame, a crooked smirk makes its way to her face once again. “Thought so.” She clicks her tongue at the last syllable. “You’ve always tended to… hm, how do I say this as nicely as possible?” She tilts her head, thinking hard when she brings a hand to her chin.
“Tend to what?”
“Neglect yourself.” She narrows her eyes at you, giving your visage a once over up and down. “But don’t worry about that, because I’d love to help you with that.”
“And why would you want to do that?” You snide, biting back any curses that threaten to leave your lips.
“Because what else are friends for? I’d hate to have you look anything less than presentable.” She travels from her spot at the table to wrap an arm around you, the suffocating closeness feels like being constricted by a snake. “How about you come with the rest of the girls and I for our next trip to the nail salon? I’ll cover all of your expenses, of course. I know you can get a little... stingy.”
There’s no way in hell you’re going anywhere with her. Not now, not even in a million years. At the mention of a trip to the nail salon, you’re swiftly reminded of a certain someone. Tall, broad, handsome, and offering a discount– at his colleague’s expense of course, but that didn’t matter right now. “No thanks, I’m good.”
Her confusion is apparent, and her hold on you loosens ever so slightly. “Why not?”
Because you would rather drop dead than give her any more ammo. “Because I’ve got an appointment elsewhere.” Shrugging yourself from her arms, you turn to face her and her expression is even better than you’d hoped. Mouth agape, jaw opening and shutting, almost fish-like as she tries to protest. You don’t try to stop the smile creeping up onto your face, “Contrary to belief, I do spoil myself every now and then.”
Never one to back down, she tries to call your bluff. “And just where are you going to get your nails done? There’s no way it could be any better than where we’re going.”
Even if it wasn’t by the grace of Yeri grabbing your attention to try her dessert that had just arrived, you know that you would’ve kept your little sanctuary to yourself. Turning away from the offended Rianne, you regain some semblance of control when you get one over on her. Honestly, a plus one wasn’t your top priority at the moment. Rather your mind drifts to your prospective nail appointment and your chiropractor.
It makes you think– not only did Jeno refer you to the nail technician across the hall from his office, but the complex had a whole hallway of different practices. Thinking about the two little business cards lodged in the folds of your wallet, you’ve yet to encounter even a fraction of the pleasures that they have to offer at Neo Therapy Practitioners.
...
"Hey, it's Jisung again. Thanks for holding.
─ ༊*·˚ ✧˳ 12:47am
you were at your boyfriend!yangyang’s apartment and it was getting late. you were planning on heading home soon, until it started pouring rain outside. you couldn’t walk to the bus stop at this rate, it’s not like you brought an umbrella, and yangyang didn’t even own one. so yangyang awkwardly offered that you spend the night at his place.
you were hesitant to take the offer, as the two of you just recently started dating, also considering the fact that yangyang had also just moved into this apartment and all he had to fill the space was a tv placed on the floor, a coffee table, and a couch that folded out into a bed.
“dont worry, ill sleep on the floor of course!” he exclaimed, flustered. “i suppose that could work..” you said shyly, focusing on the way you were rubbing your thumbnail with your index finger. yangyang set up the bed for you and gave you a pair of his basketball shorts and a t shirt. you changed into the loose fitting clothes. standing behind yangyang, you tapped his shoulder as he was putting something in the cupboard. “how do i look?” you giggled as he turned around to face you. “like me. so, cute.” you slapped yangyang’s arm playfully.
it was a little later and you were already lying down on the bed. “goodnight y/n” yangyang said while fluffing his pillow on the ground. “goodnight yangyang.” you say back. the lights were off, but the room was lit enough to see, as the moon and the city lights beamed through the curtain-less windows. you could see yangyang lying on the floor, continuously readjusting his uncomfortable position. you felt bad for him.
“uh yangyang..” “yeah?” yangyang perked his head up to look over to you, he looked like a puppy. you patted the empty space to the right of you, signaling him to come sleep there instead. yangyang nodded and didn’t hesitate to come to you.
you scooted over to make more space for him. neither of you said anything as he lied down, settling next to you, proceeding to take out his phone. you watched from the other side of the bed as he scrolled through his phone, resting it on his chest, holding it in place with the arm of the opposite side of where you laid. the light revealed his face in the dim room. he had such a pretty side profile.
eventually, after not being able to resist, you built up the courage to move closer to him, laying your head on his shoulder, pressing into the crook of his neck, finding a place for your hand in the space there was between his head and where he held his phone. yangyang turned his phone off, the glow leaving his skin. you were so comfortable, drifting off to sleep.
his arm wrapped around your back, keeping you leaned against his chest, using his other hand to trace the uneven line on your head where your hair parted down the middle for the most part. “im so glad i don’t own an umbrella”
