The air whipped Y/n in the face, her hair blowing around her, grazing her jaw and neck. She stood on the straw roof of a house overlooking the village, as her eyes looked over the village. She stood as still as she could, urging her sense to find what she was looking for, forcing her breathing to stay as controlled as it was for just a little longer. The demon was there. She knew it. Or at least, that was what she had been told. She leaped from the roof, attempting to get closer to the small feeling she was holding on to, one buried deep within her. It felt like guilt; something that burned within her, like a fire, one that pulled her unconsciously towards her goal. It was a demon. It filled all of her senses, and made her feel like her breathing would get caught in her throat at any second. But she still couldn’t find it. Not for the life of her. Her sage green Haori flapped in the wind, her skirt following suit. She hated windy days.
It had been 12 hours. She still hadn’t found it. She sent word to the upper ranking demon slayers, asking about the situation, and then offered to send backup.
‘Little good that will do. I can’t find the demon!’ she thought to herself. This was all ridiculous. It wasn’t long before her backup showed up, however. In the form of 3 strange boys.
“Hello…” she said hesitantly. They sure didn’t look like back up to her. Two of the boys greeted her, but the other, with a boar hat, mind you, seemed to be too distracted…with what, she couldn’t figure out. Their surroundings seemed pretty boring. She shook her head slightly before letting the boys in on the situation. They were to find the demon that lurked in the town, and had been kidnapping children in less than 7 hours; the situation had already dragged on long enough as it was. The only problem was that she couldnt find it. Anywhere. So the boys offered to help.
One boy, with particularly bright hair used his extraordinary hearing to try and find it. No luck.
One of the others, a particularly sweet one, used his nose to smell it. No dice.
The last one tried to use his ability to feel them through spatial awareness. He didn’t sense a thing. At this point all of them were at a loss, so they called it a day, and went to get a couple rooms at an inn so they could regroup and figure out the situation.
Once they had all settled the meeting began.
“Hmm..perhaps a demon that can hide its scent?” proposed the red head, who had introduced himself as Tanjiro.
“I'm not sure…that could be the case, but Zenitsu and Inosuke couldn’t find it either.” Y/n countered. They were at a complete loss. None of them had ever had to fight a demon like this, let alone find one. The more they talked, the more sleep called to them all, begging to take them over, filling their senses with the sticky feeling of being tired. It had been a long day of walking and searching for all of them. Soon they all gave in, separating to their designated rooms.
Y/n stripped off her uniform, and bathed, scrubbing the day's dirt from her skin and hair. She then put on a night gown, one made of soft purple silk, the sleeves coming down to the middle of her upper arm. Just as she was about to settle into the warmth and plushness of her bed, she heard a bang. And a yelp. One that sounded just like the high pitched voice of Zenitsu. She sighed, standing up, heading towards their room. She swung the door open, hoping her annoyance was evident.
“Do you mind? It's late, and I think we all need sleep for-” her eyes swept over their room. The window was shattered. Zenitsu was sprawled out on the floor. Tanjiro was bleeding down his arm, staining his white nightshirt. Inosuke’s boar head was off, tossed in a random corner, his swords in hand. It took two seconds for Y/n to notice the demon. Two seconds too late. It rushed at her, claws longer than ones she had seen before. She ducked down, the demon's claws smashing into the wood of the door, and he tugged them out quickly. Y/n had already rolled away to Tanjiro’s side, Zenitsu’s nichirin blade in hand. Something about his sword sent a tingling feeling through her. That was something to think about later however.
“Tanjiro, what the hell happened? Is your arm ok?” she said, quickly blocking the sharp claws of the demon. He spoke quickly, explaining that it had surprised them, shattering the window. As it was about to kill Zenitsu, Tanjiro stepped in the way, and attempted to block the attack, but he only managed to block some of it. Y/n fought quickly as Tanjiro recounted the story, and Y/n attempted to slice the demon's head many times, but Zenitsu’s sword was different from hers; something about the balance was off, it was much heavier than hers. Suddenly the demon swayed, and turned towards Zenitsu. Y'n rushed to his side, and blocked the Demon’s attack just in time to avoid Zenitsu’s death. She groaned as the demon’s claws sliced her upper chest, just short of the positioning of her heart. She was trying to avoid using a breathing technique so they wouldn’t cause any more damage to the already destroyed room, but that didn’t last long. Her basic use of the sword was too weak for the demon. She grit her teeth, taking control of her breath, as she prepared to end the fight once and for all.
‘Flower Breathing: Fourth Form! Crimson Hanagoromo!” swirls of pink and white flowers burst from around her and Zenitsu’s sword as she sent a single slash through the demon, killing him. As the demon finally fell, she let out a sigh of relief. At least they had finally found the demon. She turned to check on the trio of boys, all of them staring at her.
“What, never seen flower breathing before?” she giggled. She sat down beside Zenitsu, helping him sit up. She inspected him for wounds, hand fluttering over his chest. A blush spread on his face, and he could feel himself become lightheaded from the feeling. Y/n looked up to him just in time to see it, and she placed her hand against his forehead, then his cheeks.
“Are you…sick? You seem fine..” she said, looking at him with curiosity. He shook his head quickly, yellow and orange strands of hair fluttering around his face like little butterflies.
“It's-just…that-..well..” he stuttered, words sticking to his throat like glue.
“Well what?” Hana asked curiously. Zenitsu brought his face closer to hers, blush intensifying, his voice a soft whisper.
“Well…i think you looked amazing…fighting with my sword…”

Zenitsu is shy when it comes to genuine affection. He's not used to it.
He's a very passionate and easily jealous lover, along with a side of cute clinginess.
He's had bad experiences in the past with relationships so he's a little skeptical about genuine affection at first.
His favorite is definitely small kisses and cuddling. He likes being wrapped in your arms, but also like wrapping you in his arms.
He's a little insecure and gets jealous of others giving you attention sometimes. All you have to to do is gently reassure him and he gets over it pretty quickly (most of the time anyways, minus the one time he chased tanjiro around for giving you a hug)
He may come off strong but he really is a good lover, and a sweet boy.

Pink and yellow flowers swished gently in the summer breeze as birds chirped and crickets cricketed. The blue skies and puffy white clouds stood behind the tall jaded trees, providing a small shield from the scorching sun.
Zenitsu laid in the tall grass, head resting behind his arms as he listened to a far-off tune being sang by a girl he's come to listen to almost every other day.
Her voice and the sound of her gentle heartbeat were the only things that brought him peace after returning from his missions, mind and heart torn by the tragedies that are strewn across the country by rampaging demons.
Although he considered himself a coward, he believed that he could overcome any mission as long as her tune is what greets him upon his every return.
Her voice was smooth, like silk, her melodies joyful, like summer, and her heartbeat as mighty as the the mountains that surrounded them. Hypnotised by her singing, any sort of nervosity evaporated from his body, fleeing into the sky above as his feet carried his body closer and closer each day.
It was courage that he lacked - she was the only girl who'd made him feel so at peace, even if he'd never seen her face.
He didn't have to, it did not matter whether she was pretty or not, he was in love with her spirit. Of course it would be a bonus, in true Agatsuma style, but it wouldn't ever be a weakness.
Whoever she was, she was kind and strong, patient but firm. He'd never heard such a calming heartbeat and voice.
But until he gathers the courage to even see her, he will remain in the luminescent fields, surrounding himself with the harmonious sounds of insects and birds alike, bodies of water and strokes of wind.
The wind caressed his hair as his eyes came to a close, feeling enough peace to allow his body to welcome the feeling of tiredness that overcame him the longer he stayed, gently swaying him away into a deep sleep.
"That's it. I will find her, and I will confess to her," Zenitsu said loudly to his companions - Tanjiro and Inosuke- whilst smacking his fist against his palm, "I will woo her, seduce if I must, but I will not let her go. She's the only woman who's made me feel this way." He stated proudly, chest puffing up as his thoughts began to race, his cheeks burning a bright shade of pink.
"Are you sure that's a good idea? You've never even met her." Tanjiro said softly, eyes worriedly glancing over at his friend as an unsure frown graced his features.
He knew how easily Zenitsu fell in love, and how easily it was to break his fragile heart.
Inosuke only huffed with a shake of his head, legs moving faster as though to mute out the conversation between the two men. He wasn't interested if it wasn't about combat.
Zenitsu looked ahead for a short moment, before turning his attention back to Tanjiro, who's worried eyes were stuck on his own.
His gaze was soft but deep, and Zenitsu feared that it would only dissolve his resolve.
“I know Tanjiro, but I have to. I know you're worried, and you want what's best for me," He paused with a sigh, his thoughts jumbled for a moment too long, before regaining order with a shake of his head, "My heart longs for her, it beats faster at the sound of her own. I've never felt this way, although I believed I've been in love before - this is different." He spoke firmly, his walking coming to a full stop at some point during his short speech, Tanjiro complying to stop.
His hand rose to Zenitsu's shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze as a small smile grew on Tanjiro's face, "I believe you, and I will support whatever decision you make, just don't rush."
He said softly, removing his hand from his friend's shoulder before continuing to walk, with no other words exchanged between the trio for the rest of their journey.
A couple of weeks had passed since that conversation, and Zenitsu's heart pounded violently against his ribcage as he and his friends approached the Butterfly estate. A gentle breeze swished past him, lifting his spirits somewhat in the summer evening.
The sun was still somewhat high up, but the sky was darkening by the minute, growing orange and pinkish hues which stretched far and wide over sparce clouds.
Birds chirped and hopped around their nests, all communicating together - the sound being pleasing to his ears.
A stream of water nearby ran through a field, one which he'd be climbing later to reach the beautiful voice he'd been missing so much.
His head spun and blood rushed to his cheeks at the thought, his breath hitched with excitement.
His legs had a mind of their own, and soon he separated from his friends whilst heading in the direction of the voice he grew to love. She wasn't singing at this particular time, but he was sure she'd be there, sitting in the grass, maybe braiding flowers together, or maybe enjoying the breeze and the warmth of the sun.
He didn't know yet, but he would soon.
His heart continued to beat rapidly, his mind beginning to think of all the possibilities; would she be freaked out? Confused? Maybe flattered? A stranger admiring your voice for months, without ever actually matching face to voice.
“Bit strange..." Zenitsu muttered to himself, staring daggers at the grass below him, but he trudged on, stomps of determination flattening the ground, arms swinging in effort, and before he knew it, he was standing at the door of a small wooden hut, steam coming out of the top through a chimney, and songs... No. Her voice. It was so beautiful he stood and gawked, hand mid-air, about the knock.
And then the door opened.

“Should things really be that way?” you heard your boyfriend yell from the other room, soon coming into yours with tears in his eyes.
“I'm sorry Zenitsu, it needs to be like this.” you felt guilt for what you had done, there was no way that Zenitsu would ever forgive you, if not even face your direction again.
You felt bad… you would never want this for yourself either and here you were breaking someone else's heart about it.
“You'll regret this…” he mumbled, anger filling every corner of his veins, turning around and making his way to the next door room.
“Zenitsu…”
No response…
“Zenitsu! Where are you going!?”
Still no response…
And just when you thought things couldn't get worse-
Goodness, you already forgot what went through your mind during the careless action, Zenitsu was stubborn, of course he wouldn't let it go until justice was served.
Your worst suspicions came true when you saw him walk into the kitchen… make his way to the fridge… and grab your mochi that you had left from the previous night.
“Zenitsu put that down! We can talk about this!” You pleaded, as Zenitsu brought a piece into his mouth and watched you cry at the loss of your well served mochi.
“Should've thought about that when you ate that ramen I left yesterday!”
“Look! I'm sorry!”
“I won't accept apologies anymore- I'm a grown man…”
“You're 16..”
“Shut up!!!!”
