Ive Brushed My Teeth At Least Once A Day For Two Whole Weeks!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!
I’ve brushed my teeth at least once a day for two whole weeks!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!
This may not seem like a big deal for a lot of people but I’m really proud of myself for this!
I know to a lot of people, especially abled people (whether physically or mentally abled), the idea of not brushing your teeth regularly is gross or “repulsive” or makes someone disgusting and what not, but I think we need to accept that not everyone can engage in hygiene practices the same way as everyone else. Just because someone cannot brush their teeth, or shower, or brush the their hair daily or even weekly does not make someone less than or gross or less deserving of anything. We are all people and we all deserve the same respect and we all deserve to feel safe in this world. Everyone has different abilities and support needs. Everyone is their own person and can do what they’re able to and should not be forced to do more than they’re able to do safely or comfortably. Someone may choose to do more but they should not be forced to by others.
Disabled people are people and deserve the same respect as everyone else.
My ability to take care of myself changes daily sometimes even throughout a day and I shouldn’t feel like I’m being judged for doing the best I can when it doesn’t match what others think my best should be.
TL;DR: Someone’s ability to engage in hygiene practices should never ever determine their worth!!!!
EDIT: (September 6th, 2023) I am so proud of everyone in the replies/reblogs who struggle with hygiene too! You are all doing so good and you should be proud of what you’re able to do!

I fucking hate the way that working and having a job and what not is valued above everything else. It’s valued above health, above eating, above enjoying life, and so much more and that’s absolutely ridiculous. Not everyone can work and they should not be deemed less than because of that. Many people who cant work want to work! The focus on labor and one’s ability to work is unhealthy and unhelpful. Someone’s worth is not based on their productivity and to think or act otherwise is extremely harmful. People shouldn’t feel bad for taking the rest they need when they need it. No one should ever have to put off taking care of themself and treating themself with compassion. We need to treat each other with compassion, understanding, and respect.
I’ve called out of work a lot for numerous reasons related to my health and every time I do I feel really bad about it and quite frankly I shouldn’t feel bad for prioritizing my health. I am honestly really lucky because my job has super flexible hours and it’s really easy to have someone cover my shifts even last minute which I’m super thankful for. My shifts are short (2 hours) and I have a few days off every week so already I’m not working super frequently. My job is also something that I enjoy and don’t mind doing which is a privilege honestly. Even with all of that I still feel a lot of pressure to be productive and to work because of the society I live in. Today I didn’t feel good or comfortable enough to go to work but i did anyway because I feel like I can’t since I’ve called out so much recently. Many days I wake up and wish I could just do nothing without feeling less than for not being productive and that is something I need to work on deconstructing for myself.
We should not base our worth (or the worth of others) on how much we get done, how much we work, and/or how “successful” we are.
It’s the fact that my heart rate even in meds gets up to almost 200 just when I’m walking around or doing stuff literally what the fuck. I hate POTS and Dysautonomia in general. Fuck this shit honestly why can’t I just ya know function???
Does anyone have any recommendations for good knee braces for preventing hyper extension? I’m trying to get some through my insurance but they’re being slow as fuck and my knees are only getting worse so any suggestions for OTC braces would be hugely appreciated
