thinking about how the art industry banned darja bajagić’s ‘art piece’ of a woman with a swastika but gave her stunned positive reviews like she’s some kind of thought rebel for taking a photo from a gore website of the real life decapitated victim‘s head from a misogynist murder her murderer posted on the site with the description ‘dead whore’ because she rejected his advances, and bajagić putting the picture of the decapitated head next to pictures of the heads of cum covered porn stars, putting a red cartoon blood puddle beneath the pic of the murder victim and white cum puddles beneath the pics of the performers, then calling the whole thing an art installation. thinking about how she used pics of the faces of female victims of pedophile rapists and making a pornographic collage with these kids faces over a large picture of a naked young girl showing her vulva while smiling provocatively. thinking about how bajagić says in an interview she was exposed to porn from a young age on and how her friend was murdered and her mother made her stay in after that and watched true crime shows with her. how one of her first art school projects was asking a man in a park to masturbate for her right then and there and filmed it. how bajagić thinks her professor who advised her to seek therapy when seeing her art works full of violent misogyny as well as ppl in uni offering to pay for it because they cared about her were just ignorant and thinks everyone thinking critically about this is ‘puritanical’. thinking of how boyd rice, with whom bajagić posed together, has openly declared himself a misogynist and said he thinks women shouldnt have the same rights to which no one bat an eye but once he involved nazi themes in his works the calls to cancel him became audible.

thinking about how misogyny is the form of systematic hate that is the least taken seriously in this society and women’s real life bodies and dignities are considered playgrounds to be experimented on. of how we’re taught to participate in our own dehumanization because it’s unavoidable anyway so better get used to it, right? thinking of how we’re not even sacred in violent death and our mutilated corpses continue being fetishised by the gawking masses🙃

So I’ve mentioned how for intersex people our assignment as boys or girls can change throughout our lives, how we can be altered or given hormones in relation to that at any age, but there’s even more possibilities than that.

You see, people aren’t only assigned a gender at birth, but are also assigned a sex at birth. For dyadic people, your gender assignment and sex assignment always match without anything special being done (unless you were raised neutrally). While this can occur for intersex people too (especially those of us whose intersexuality goes unnoticed or presents later in life), it isn’t always the case.

For intersex people whose intersexuality is evident at birth, assignment at birth can get tricky.

Some people are also assigned into a one sex category but “”raised as”” the gender opposite to that. For example, someone can be assigned male at birth sex-wise but still “”rasied as”” female gender wise, oftentimes because they’re deemed “not male enough.” The reverse applies.

Some are also assigned no sex (unknown/ambiguous) and they may be “”raised as”” neutral, male, or female. Even those who are assigned a sex may be raised neutrally.

This is why cisness and transness can be complicated for intersex people. Some of us aren’t cis but aren’t trans, some of us can be considered cis but can also be considered trans. Some of us can technically be trans but due to how we feel about our assignments identify as cis, and vice versa. Some of us have no idea where we fit, because with the definitions that exist, we don’t. And it gets even more complicated when it comes to more specific terms like transmasc and transfem.

This is simply reality for us. This is our lived experience, and it isnt our fault that the way perisex people talk about these things doesn’t take into mind our experiences. We aren’t trying to blur lines. You’re the ones who drew the lines too sharp.

I actually think we CAN and SHOULD talk about how white gays make solidarity impossible by infantilization of themselves and making their bodies the standard and then sexualizing literally anything else.

So I was back in Mandarin class and the teacher let us know that in ancient times sometimes they wouldn’t even give their girl children names. Their attitude was why bother getting attached to her when she’s just going to grow up and belong to someone else? She doesn’t need her own identity because she is the property of her future husband. If they needed to refer to a woman they would say that’s Wang’s wife. In the same way you would say oh, that’s Wang’s car or Wang’s house. Let’s remember that we give names to dogs, horses, ships and buildings but some human women don’t deserve such recognition. She also touched on sex-selective abortion for a bit and it was all in all a pretty sad discussion today.

I was really moved but it felt like everyone else didn’t care or thought that stuff doesn’t matter because it doesn’t happen anymore. And yet even now women’s identities are being erased when they get married. Their personal history and family ties are untraceable because they are “adopted” into their husbands family. It’s disgusting and I hate that its so nomalized and I hate that even women’s names are not our own. We might as well never have been given names in the first place.
