Why are Scorpio placements eccentric or unconventional?

This is in reply to a post by @astroismypassion and about Scorpio placements in general.

1. It intrigued me to know that scorpio placements strive to be unconventional and subjective in terms of academics, romance, hobbies, friends and even thoughts, ideas, opinions. They actively want to be different from the herd walk and frequently use the metric "Is everybody doing it? If yes then it is not worth doing. I will do what nobody else is doing." There is also the tendency to enjoy time by oneself alone and be very self aware of their behaviour, words, actions, emotions, thoughts, reactions. Once you identify what a scorpio looks like, you can start seeing a pattern in how MATURE scorpios think, act and live. They are all quite the same or similar.

2. Scorpio is the sign that falls on 8th house and is ruled by Mars and Ketu (vedic) or Pluto (tropical). Almost all mature scorpios have inclination towards self actualization because their feeling function is dominating. Since their method of relating to others is feeling based, they are very aware of how other people act and behave. They reflect upon themselves and find if they have the same qualities as others. It makes them yearn for originality and being unique, especially if their ego and self esteem is weak. One can say that scorpios have the predisposition towards being initiated in terms of spiritual and psychological development.

3. Since 8th house also deals with sudden, tumultuous and catastrophic events in life, scorpios are deeply affected by life events and strive to transform themselves in ways that they can control their life better, avoid pitfalls the next time catastrophe happens and fear losing control or being powerless. They cannot just take it lightly because it is about their power and power is a necessary evil in life.

4. My next theory is that all of us are acting on our active complexes. Carl Jung said about emotions that they are the involuntary reactions from active complexes. He said that emotions and feelings are not synonymous but different. Feeling, sensation, thinking, intuition are psychological functions while emotion is the fire that fuels the behaviour in the native. What it means is that a self aware person knows that their behaviour stems from a core complex and they yearn to solve that problem rather than live in neurotic state with intense guilt, shame, regret and self criticism. For example, they can identify mommy issues in themselves and others; once they identify, they try to outgrow the complex and overcome embarrassing behaviours.

There can be no transforming of darkness into light and of apathy into movement without emotion.

5. Scorpio can also be said to have primitive tendencies because of their preoccupation with the collective unconscious. They are always reading, judging, thinking others and doing self reflection. They are thinking of why people are the way they are, what is their shadow side, insecurities, weaknesses, psychological issues? With high self awareness comes also the awareness of karma or action/reaction. They are moved by the suffering, sickness, poverty, problems in the world and fear they might face the same fate if they do not live in high morality and ethics.

6. For most of the air/fire signs, it can be said that they are so insecure in so many ways that they do not even know how much they are lacking, but water sign's sensitivity gives them ability to read the room and actively work on their psychological development. As for the claim that scorpio placements look down upon others as being superficial, I think this happens because of their life circumstances and bitter life lessons that make them go deeper, psychoanalyze themselves and others, find deeper meaning in life and deal with intense complexes constantly.

7. As to why scorpio males and females act differently, we might have to look into places outside astrology like how society works, culture, how society treats men v/s women, what kind of behaviours are rewarded and know that behaviour is not proof of inner life. A promiscuous scorpio is not like that because they like sex so much or they like to charm others, it might be because they feel so powerless in other area of their life that promiscuity gives them power over some people & makes them feel important. The opposite of Scorpio is Taurus which is concerned with stability, rigidity and loyalty. Loyalty is about self preservation, not wanting to lose what they have invested in, emotional security and expectation that "if I stay loyal, my partner will also reciprocate too".

8. To conclude, signs and houses should be viewed together in opposites because they exist like that in consciousness and shadow. As I have matured, I begin to see that people cannot be viewed in polarities and indeed scorpio placements will display the traits of taurus even if is it an empty house because they are trying to understand themselves through people and events.

Tendency of Sun in 7th house to self sabotage?

Having sun in 7th house, I have dealt with a strange phenomenon all my life. It is as if I absorb the projections of other people directed at me and consider it to be my reality. So, if someone calls me "stupid and dumb", I accept it as my reality rather than seeing that it says more about the accuser than myself.

This tendency led me to be a people pleaser and have low self confidence because I also have 8th house placements, so I encountered traumatizing and toxic behaviour from people in my surroundings. They would project things directly or indirectly and I would absorb it as truth. As if my existence depended upon the opinion of other people.

As if being seen by others would keep me alive, otherwise I am a nobody and invisible. I dont know who I am so I needed others to tell me who I was. What they said about me was the gospel of truth, especially if they were close family. Opinions of others are their projection, whether good or bad all opinions are projections. People perceive other people by constant projection. It is impossible to withdraw all projections because then living in the world is not possible.

I remember being a child and thinking to myself "I wish I was married as a kid, so I would have a husband to think for me, take my decisions, tell me what to do because I am just so lost". At that time I did not know that it was my sun in 7th house effect that was sabotaging my self confidence and self image.

I would also mirror others, especially my mother who is sun in 1st house. Her being 1st house sun and me being 7th house sun, I was her copy, her mirror, enmeshed with her, identified with her, as if her story was mine, her reality was mine. All daughters are copies of their mothers, but I went a little too far and absorbed her identity.

There is also the tendency to idealize others, especially men, but also women. Seeing the idealized version of people in imagination and feeling flawed, inferior, lacking in comparison to them. I believe this can be understood with the concept of the 'inner gold' that the native projects upon other people as container of all the ideal and good qualities instead of accepting them in oneself because the native's ego is too weak to hold them. For example, the natural confidence is too shaky "no, I cannot do that, it's too difficult for me, I am not smart enough".

There is also a tendency to read other people's insecurities. It is as if I can watch someone's behaviour and read between their words and tell "aha! I caught you. This is your insecurity." and since I see it in others, I also see it in myself like a mirror "ohhh, so, I also do this behaviour in my life, this is my insecurity too". It makes me "socially intelligent" but not so confident because you need to have a force of personality to perform in physical world. If you spend half your time reading others' behaviour and words, when will you begin to live? And you will dread to socialize because you are always flinching and cringing at people's insecurities.

Lastly, there is also the tendency to have a weak ego which gets inflated when perceived to be disrespected. Disrespect is taken seriously, even indirect disrespect is disrespect. I believe this is because sun sets in the 7th house and loses its natural heat there, so the ego compensates for this feeling of inferiority by demanding a lot of respect from other people because it cannot respect itself since it feels invisible and hidden in this house. Barack Obama has sun in 7th house and he is the public figure well known for having a clean record in terms of cheating or extramarital affairs. And we know the stereotype of "sun in 7th house power couple" because of how much importance native gives to marriage and not take it for granted.

Fate and destiny are synonyms but vary in uses of the word. Fate is the power supposed to fix beforehand and control everything that happens in life. While destiny is what will happen despite all efforts to change or prevent it, that is, the course of events that are predetermined. When we compare our life to somebody else's or get angry at the chain of events, it causes nothing but mental agony. "It should not have happened". Fate brings forth both positive and negative experiences. At its best it can bless you with fortune fame looks success intelligence and at its worst it can be violent destructive cruel and sadistic.

Surrendering to fate is not an option for the seeker since surrender is an attitude that happens when the time is ripe. In psychology, fate is said to be the outcome of psychological tendencies. For example, girls come out of toxic relationship then begin reflection and healing, realize they were repeating attachment style to their parental figure, they were acting out of trauma, etc. Then it clicks "oooohhh, so thats why I kept getting in relationship with men who made my life hell". Or when someone goes into a particular career and then self reflects and realize that the hints and seed of this career were always there in them even tho future was not clear yet.

The thing with destiny is that it only becomes clear in hindsight. Speculating about future prediction is the work of astrologers and dare i say predictions can be wrong too.

So one can do self reflection, automatic writing, voice notes, active imagination, sketching and drawing, tarot card, dream work and much more to explore the things in psyche that are not conscious. In fact, reading this post is a point in your life that adds to something you will underatand in future, when you sit down to self reflect and realize how you were browsing a certain type of content in past, what it led to your life choices, how you outgrew your past self and made you the person you are in future.

In analytical psychology, 'Self' is the center of the psyche, who you really are, the god within. Self is said to predecide the fate before birth. Whereas 'ego' is the center of the consciousness. Ego says "I have free will" and Self shows otherwise. But we never underestimate the cultivation of mind, reading books, learning decision making, logic and common sense. Knowledge is power.

You dont remember the past you anymore because you have gradually healed and changed. Intuition, synchronicity, occult tools, dream symbolism, inner knowledge are your methods for healing and transformation. But this change is not sudden like the nature of 8th house. It is rather slow, gradual and blending into each other. 2. You become fearless. You have a knowing that whatever happens is meant to happen so taking career risks is a brave decision. You feel different from the mainstream idea of youth, people, life. It is like most people in the world are so unaware of the self and soul, they are so detached from their emotional lives, it is like the world is upside down to you. You have no problem keeping to yourself because you dont long for social validation and acceptance. This is where the stereotype of mysterious persona comes from.

3. "Thinking is hard that's why most people judge". You have incredible patience and tolerance for problematic people because you see through their fake performance and see the emotional suffering they suffer to feel powerful over others, overcome their insecurity by cheap means, embarrassing themselves by thinking their tricks are working. Oddly, you feel sympathy and compassion for them.

4. With all the thinking, contemplation, self development arises a sense of self. Your self image is much stable. Transformation is a humbling process, it really awakens you that there is some higher power who knows everything for some reason somehow. With this awareness, you search for meaning in life. Some might become passionately devoted to a craft, work, skill, art, worship. While you might be a chaotic mess before, now you feel like a wise sage. You have really lived life, experienced the magic of being and know the "secrets" of life. Your presence is calming. You are conscious and self aware. You really know what you are doing. With this knowledge, you are a whole person who is naturally called to do self actualization. There is no going back from here. But it is a journey you are excited to undertake. If you are really self aware, you would know you kind of put on a mask in social personality but in private you drop that mask to do inner work and be yourself with all the light and darkness.

5. When it comes to transformation, we hear things like "change your way of life". What it means is to change your habits, beliefs and thought patterns. Once the old system is destroyed, there is a void and that cannot sustain for too long. You immediately need a new system to hold your life in place otherwise that stage of dissolution can be really paralyzing. Like you are so sad and confused that you cannot leave your room, brush, bath, socialize, study, work.

To tell you an example, this is the skeletal system of a bird, it holds the bird's body upright, without this system the bird cannot fly, if a bone is fractured the bird is dysfunctional, if there is sickness the bird is in pain. Just like the body needs a system, we also need a system in daily mundane life. A routine, a structure, many many habits that are autonomous, thought processes to hold you up. This is the adult life where one is responsible for themselves and so they need a solid framework for their life. What habits you need to change is a personal journey but the habit must change.

6. Old impulses and temptations lack their lusture. The temptation to binge watch instagram reels? Nah, it just does not feel tempting. Temptation to binge eat 5000 kcal food? Nah, the temptation is gone. To tell you an example, it is compared to a dried raisin that has lost its juice so the old temptations are just not dopamine gratifying:

You have this sense of "I will not do or say anything that makes me feel ashamed of myself". "I will live my life by my values and principles". "I will not be cringey, I will be a person people can rely upon". It is a strange feeling, you will feel it when the transformation happens in your life. I dont know how people can sit in silence and paint or draw or meditate for hours or enjoy their own company. I would rather play video games, watch TV, write some essay or shoot some video for YouTube or tiktok or Instagram-I need motion, movement, to do something. 1. If you want to torture me, keep me isolated in a room. Social groups are where I thrive. I cannot stand solitude, simply because being solitary means to sit with my emotions, thoughts, insecurities, complexes and face them. I cannot do that, I just cannot.

2. Fortunately, my life theme attracts many opportunities to make friends/socialize/meet a lot of people on daily basis. Astrology not only tells personality traits but also life event patterns. 3rd, 7th, 11th houses deal with other people, networking, public interactions, connections and relationships, you see the association? Some are born lone wolf, we are not. I can never be a monk, I dont have the emotional discipline for that, though I can be your travel partner to Thailand when you visit a monastery, I love to explore new places.

3. I need you to like me, I am really good at studying others. I like to keep a lot of connections, I like to network with people, people are assets, friends for life, there is nothing much in life. 6. Though I make a loyal partner when I am mature. I am loyal because cheating is too much of mess for me for too little return. I am not really obsessed with power, I am the sigma not the alpha, we are equals, I dont want to be superior to you-I dont want power over you. I want to be your friend. I make love with my friend. You are my friend and you are my lover. I dont like power games. Though if I have fire/water placements too then I can be power centric otherwise I am just the equal dynamic type. I am a very balanced type of person.
