Asking for help

Her face was a stark red, contrasting her skin to her dark hair. Her eyelashes wet and clinging to falling snow flakes, "Sesshomaru." She looked ready to cry, speaking quickly, "Please- I tried tying myself to a tree- But I keep sliding! I just- "

"Breathe, " his voice rumbles calmly, cutting her words into silence.

When his brow rose as if to say continue, her lips quivered, "Help."

With a nod, he followed her as her shorter form trekked the deep snow. She had been out looking for kindling when she heard a small cry for help. A small child, fallen in an old burrow. Her small legs unable to jump or climb the distance. Her small hands dirty and numb from trying to climb up the frozen ground. Her cheeks and nose red and smudged from tears.

She had tried to tie herself at the waist to a tree but continued to slide, even caving in some of the burrow walls.

"Are you okay," she called into the hole.

The small face peeked at her from under her own haori. Her small hands reaching for her, "Up, up."

"I got help, just hang on," she turned to him. "Just hold here," she indicated to her waist, but when he dropped to his knees in the soft snow, she nearly lunged as he sank slightly, "You're too big!"

His arm rotated, catching hold around her calf to stabilize himself, "Look here, jolly green - I can do it!" He watched her from over his shoulder. Her hands firmly pressed a 'hmph' out of her, "Are you going to help me or not?"

He shifted, better anchoring himself, "Come then," he motioned for her.

Quicker than he thought, she was down on her knees. Her whole upper body lost into the burrow for the child.

Before he could stop it, he felt a wave of pride.

Not in himself, but in her.

Did I already say Happy New year- HAPPY NEW YEAR (one more again)🧧🐉✨️🤣

Woo! And a ficlet for pizzazz!!! 🙃 Now I'm going to do some dishes and make dinner... and clean up the disaster that my adhd caused me to need to organize screws, nails, bolts, the spinny things, etc... 😅
