Here, Chapter 9 : So, Danny teases Steve, a little. Steve is big possessive with a need to keep his wolf paws on his Danno. And then Danny's hair decides it's time to reveal his secret to the whole team.

Delight me in equal measure. Because, truly, the premise of the show is SUCH A GOOD HIGH CONCEPT. Like. Fuck. Yes. And then you can do all sorts of stuff WITHIN the concept that in no way has to follow the original show because the best thing about the original show was the fucking concept.
Like, I love it. A good fucking story idea is a good fucking story idea, and the fact The Sentinel absolutely has a place in the queerbait hall of fandom history, the fact the CONCEPT is something people have latched onto is DELICIOUS.

stiles storms into the loft, arms full of bags because he just spent 4 hours in spirit halloween and he cannot be responsible for his own actions when he steps foot into that store. 'i can't believe you forgot to buy the candy!'
one minute he's rushing to put the bags down because they hurt, they're heavy, he is only but a human, ok?? he had at least 5 on each arm, he should win an olymlic gold medal or something.
and then the next minute he has a pair of werewolf arms wrapped around his waist and lips brushing against the back of his neck. 'why do i need candy when i got someone as sweet as you?'
stiles blushes because this whole thing with derek is still new and he would have not believed anyone if they told him the alpha is a sap. a big ol' sticky piece of werewolf sap.
he finds the bowl that has a skeleton relaxing in it like he's taking a bath, limbs hanging out and all, 'oh ok, so I guess i'll go put myself out in the candy bowl for all the moms and dads and age appropriate trick or treaters to take a piece of me.'
derek moves stiles to the side and rips at least 6 bags of candy into the bowl, he's making a mess honestly, all while flashing his deep red eyes and growling at stiles. he even shows a little bit of fang.
the human smirks, 'that's what i thought.'

* the way Grace asks where her mum or uncle Steve are - she knows if Danny was injured one of them would come for her, which says a lot about Steve's place in her life
* the way when Danny says that Grace is at a tennis lesson, Steve tells Chin which tennis place she's at - he knows which club she has her lessons at, but Chin is not expected to know this
* the way Steve is so visibly stressed when they realise Grace has been taken and he can't get a hold of Danny and he needs to make a decision about what they should do cos he's the boss, but he's visibly trying to pull himself together and focus and even when he manages to focus he's so emotional in a way he never is with cases. Like, he always cares, but this time he's rattled.
* the way Steve just yells Danny's name (multiple times) when they get to the park. He sends Kono and Chin to deal with the bad guy, and his focus is just on Danny.
* it's Steve there with Danny when they rescue Grace, right beside him, untying her, etc.

I can't comment on this ep without also commenting on how much I appreciate Stan in this episode.
When Danny says he needs to meet him, Stan's first thought is Grace.
When Danny says he needs to shoot him or some guy is going to kill Grace - Stan accepts it. He basically agrees to it. Because it's for Grace.
And I know in s1 he's set up as the 'bad guy' from Danny's POV because he gets time with Rachel and Grace, but I so wanted them to follow through on this moment here - where Danny and Stan are united in their desire to protect Grace and willing to do anything for her.
It would have made such a great starting point for them to start understanding each other, etc. They may never like each other but they both put Grace first.
And think that's also very telling about Stan. That he's okay with getting shot if it's for Grace. He loves her. He cares for her as a father. He's not just putting up with her so he can have Rachel - and I think that's very important to acknowledge.
(But the show was far too focused on making Danny and Stan rivals for Rachel's attention because don't we all know that Danny's straight? Here's proof. No, I'm not bitter about the comphet at all)

Derek takes the hits, lets Stiles channel his anger and fear. (He deserves the blame—if only he’d been more diligent, his pack could have handled the threat before the Sheriff was abducted, again.)
Then the madness leaves Stiles and all that’s left is wracking sobs.
Derek takes this too, pulling Stiles close, letting his human mate’s tears stain his shirt.
In the quiet after—when Derek’s feels the pain as deeply as it was all his own—Stiles can barely speak his name, face buried against his neck.
“We’ll get him back, Stiles.”
And they will, whatever it takes.

And I can help but think about the similarities of Steve going running up a mountain with Lori and Steve and Danny's mountain date in s1.
I think the worst thing they did in the show for Lori's character was try and force some kind of romantic tension between her and Steve. She had so much potential, and the tension always feels forced because when she and Steve are interacting naturally they act more like brother and sister than anything else. And also because the more they try to push romance the more they make her a 2d instead of 3d character.
(And look my plan was not to go on a rant about how male showrunners can't seem to cast a female in a romantic role without destroying their character)
Anyway, my original Pont was that I find it interesting that in trying to get us to view them in a romantic light they decide to put her and Ste e in situations similar to what Steve and Danny have been in.
However, I also have to point out - even in this, Danny wins.
Cos I'm sorry, but taking your partner to view a nostalgic place from your childhood and talk about your memories of your dead father and open up is much more solid and romantic then hey, let's go exercise together. Just saying.

What started as a joke in the short drabble I wrote is now one of my favourite headcanons.
Eli’s nickname as a kid is Trouble.
The nickname came about because Sheriff Stilinski was telling Stiles and Derek that wherever they go, trouble follows, and Eli - with his perfect timing - toddled in after them, prompting the Sheriff to jokingly say, “And here’s Trouble.”
After that, the nickname stuck. And made for many laughs when they would call him Trouble or refer to him by the nickname and he would happily say, “I’m Trouble!”
Stiles is Mischief, Derek is Sourwolf, and Eli is Trouble
Ok, so I put the blame entirely on Deej for these, where a drawing lesson online somehow turned into me making adorable Sterek doodles (with his encouragement, of course).
I think the first one is probably a Valentine’s Day something-or-other? The Seasonal theme kind of kept going with Stiles and Derek cooking a barbecue for 4th of July (oh Derek, leave the cooking to Stiles please).
I have no excuse for the last one, though - we were experimenting with wolfy!Derek and somehow damsel-in-distress Stiles became Stiles in awkward frilly dress. I can just imagine Stiles having been kidnapped by a faery court for a bridal offering, and having to be rescued by Derek, who’s all “RAWR GET AWAY FROM MY MATE” while Stiles is all “Who put me in this dress?! DON’T LOOK AT ME! DON’T LOOK AT MEEE!”
*maniacal laughter* I need to go to bed.

I am a bit (a little tiny bit) of a compulsive reader and an inveterate collector because I need to reread the works I like very often… I have fanfictions that are like comfort blankets, comfort readings, and others for days when I need to laugh rather than cry. Does this make sense? I replaced my real library with a virtual one, because I didn't have enough space on my shelves for my husband's, my children's and my own books.
