It is believed that the crown of thorns of Christ described in the Bible is woven from this species. The vernacular hold-tree comes from the ability of this plant to cling tightly with its thorns to clothes, skin and animal hair, so it is used as a hedge. Besides, it's a wonderful honey plant🐝🌱
