Sorry. I’m usually more composed and eloquent whenever I do this, but...damn! You know? 

Anyways…

Hi Shanna. Honestly, there are no words that I could express right now having read this because I feel like everyone else has said the things that I would like to say (yeah, I kinda spoiled myself a little before reading this chapter), but wow. The way this story is continuing to unfold, and so cinematically too, is just leaving me speechless. 

Starting off, I love the small nod to Namjoon during the coffee shop scene. It was light. Witty. A bit strained though and that's why I couldn’t help but wonder if the main character and Finn are actually going to break the glass ceiling back into normality. They’re trying, but it only seems to be scratching at the surface, and there’s only so much that you can do before your arms get tired and you eventually just give up. It’s sad now that I’m actually putting words to this, but I’m very glad that you’re bringing out these emotions in me. 

I also really enjoyed Jungkook’s appearance in this and noticing how Jimin was more tense than usual. To be honest, I laughed when you panned over to stiff Jimin when he was packing up from class. Sabrina though was someone that stood out to me the most during this chapter. It was interesting seeing her in this new light. From seeing her so sure and confident in herself, someone who is so firm and sturdy and poised, to seeing her with cracks in her persona. Seeing her look more “human” and softening around the edges. It made me sit up a little and pay attention to her more because this was so different than how we usually see her, so I’m looking forward to her arc, if she does have one, later. 

When it came to the party, it was a moment that I knew would ruin me (it was also at this scene where I realized that Noelle Monique from Kim Possible. If that's true then Sabrina is totally Bonnie). Anyways, Jimin and Hoseoks Halloween costume?!?!?!? Shanna!! And when Jimin said, "Things happen for reason, right?" OOP- (I’m sorry, my brain kinda gave up on me here and I was in a continuous mindset of what the actual fuc- 

So the party, part two!! My last brain cell came back here, so I was able to think a lot about what you wrote here. One thing that really came about was just the irony that even though she and Finn are close, they couldn't be further apart. It’s saddening. It's like watching an accident about to happen so you kinda just have to brace yourself until the impact and just pray that the aftermath isn’t terribly disastrous. I also was reflecting a lot on the parallels between what happened with her and Finn at the club versus her and Jimin: she didn’t dance with Finn, but she did with Jimin. Alcohol got spilled on her and she was upset, alcohol got spilled on someone else and she laughed. But in both instances, Jimin was there for her in the end. Except for, you know, after THAT. And finally, FINALLY, Sabrina got the talk that she needed to knock her down a peg. Though I'm curious to see what's going on on her side of things and see if she’ll take the main character’s comments and actually take them to heart. No matter how many times I say that I feel a bit aversive to Sabrina, there is still a part of me that feels for her. There’s so much potential underneath...and… and maybe a part of me wants to give her a hug. I don’t know though. She’d probably kick me in the gut while she does a grand plie or something with a smile on her face. Still love her though!

Also, I love Noelle. So, so much. When she got the call from the mc, she didn’t ask any questions and dropped everything was there for her right then and there. And the rest of the ending reminded me of a TikTok where a girl said to let your friends be the standard for your relationships and that was so crystal clear right then and there. 

I don’t know how things will pan out from here, to be honest, I kept trying to come up with theories but now I’m just here for this very enjoyable and emotional ride. Thank you so much Shanna for this. I’ll always be cheering you on. Sending you lots and lots and lots and lots of love!😘💕

It’s been a while. I hope that you’ve been doing okay. I know that I’m a bit late to ‘The Alpha’ train, but hopefully, I can jump on board and catch up. I’ve been spoiling myself with all of the asks and a spark of fate (or maybe just procrastination that’s eating me up) finally led me back to you. To this. To this beautiful world that gripped me by my shoulders and sucked me in from the very start. 

It’s truly amazing how much has been packed within this first part. You see the first glimpses of the world surrounding them. You see some of the character dynamics shine through (especially in the way Jimin takes his place beside Namjoon unsurprisingly and with a hint of what could be called resentment that’s mixed in with his pessimistic tone. But you also see from the Luna’s side how she is is going through her own trials too. Growing up and having to mate with someone who she doesn’t have feelings for. Someone that makes her feel “empty” like you said. It struck hard though when you wrote:

“It won’t matter once you scent him. You’ll want him then.”

Your mother’s words echoed reassuringly in your head.

“I’ll want him then,” you whispered as the blindfold tightened around your eyes.

Like, that’s so sad and I really felt for her then. But now that the circumstances are definitely not what was perceived, I honestly so curious to see how this will all play out. Thank you so much Vi for this series. I can’t wait to catch up. Sending you lots of love.💕

Namjoon was never the most coordinated person ever which was why you weren’t very surprised when you discovered that this also reflected in his driving skills.

“I don’t get it. Why is it so hard to know when I should start braking?” Namjoon huffs as he comes to another screeching halt at a stop sign, your body involuntarily jerking forward at the halt of movement.

“It comes with experience, Joon.” You roll down your window slightly and turn down the volume of Yoongi’s new mixtape blasting in the car.

Joon had argued earlier that Yoongi had created the best mixtape for a casual drive earlier as he slid the cd into the slot. On such a hot day during the pandemic, it wasn’t very difficult to find an empty parking lot to practice driving around in. It is, however, very difficult for you to convince Namjoon that he’s overthinking the process of braking.

“Okay, but there must be some sort of rule to this. Yoongi just keeps telling me to feel when I should brake but that doesn’t help very much.” Namjoon ironically comes to another very sharp stop at the next stop sign causing you to scramble for the grab handle. A sigh escapes your lips before you can register it.

“Pull over. Let me drive for awhile.”

Namjoon doesn’t protest, almost immediately turning to double park and stopping the car. Exiting the car, the two of you swiftly swap seats.

“I’ll narrate what I’m doing as I drive and you ask me any questions you have. Then we can switch back after and I’ll help you out. Deal?”

Namjoon simply hums in response as you shift the car into drive.

“Okay so, since the lot is empty, I’m gonna press on the accelerator lightly just to gain some speed.” The car pushes forward at a slightly faster rate and you take your foot off the pedal. “So right now we’re just coasting.” The car continues to roll at a steady speed towards the upcoming stop sign. “Notice the distance between the car and that stop sign? We’re going to start pressing the brakes right about here.”

The car slows as you steadily push down on the brakes, finally coming to a smooth stop in front of the white line.

“Okay so what I did there was I started to gradually press down on the pedal to make sure that the stop wasn’t sudden.”

Namjoon nods at this, attempting to process the new information.

“As we go faster, you’ll need to brake earlier and if you’re following another car, you basically just follow whatever they do. Does this make sense?”

“Sort of?” Namjoon fiddles with his fingers as he attempts to process all the information that you’ve given to him. “I mean it all makes sense logically but practically, I’m not sure if I can execute it.”

You hum understandingly as you turn into an empty slot in the parking lot, slowing the car to a stop.

“Okay,” You unbuckle your seat belt and drivers’ door. “Now you try.”

Slowly but surely, Namjoon gets the hang of it.

“So you’re not terrible at driving!” Jimin exclaims as he watches Namjoon come to a comfortable stop in front of their shared apartment later that afternoon.

You chuckle at his reaction.

“He really isn’t.”

[When is the pain train going to go away???😭😭😭😭]

I released the biggest sigh once I got here. And by here, I mean both reading this part of RTB and typing out my feelings about it. It’s not like I didn’t expect all of this to blow up at some point, but I just didn’t think that the damage would be so catastrophic.

 The way that you built up everything though was really good. I loved that you didn’t hold back on this part. The way you filled in holes and logically explained the thoughts circulating throughout the main character’s mind and making us realize that thoughts aren't as linear as you may think. Especially when emotions and logic are at war. That just makes them more human, and that’s what you see here with her. She bottled everything up because she wanted to find a clear path to just letting everything out, but you don’t get that at all. Instead, you see her slowly drowning in her own head until she said fuck it and dealt with it on her own. 

The argument that happened really opened my eyes, mainly because you see that no one was in the right. Even Yoongi because he played a role in the main character’s feelings and mindset. You see both of their faults, so rawly too, and it was surprising at how well it was done. Anger is just a shield for sadness, and you can tell how hurt they are through their words. Though the lowest blow for me was when Finn said that she wouldn’t make it, because like you said, he must’ve thought that before and it hurts to know that not even the person you love (?) doesn’t support you. 

And what happened next shocked me even more. Cheating is unforgivable in my eyes, so seeing the main character and Jimin kiss was like a big blow to the gut. Because usually when you see the main characters kiss for the first time, it’s after the dust settles and everything is good. But everything was not good and it made the situation even worse. I feel disappointed in them both, Jimin and the main character, but a little more so toward Jimin, because he knew that she was in a relationship and was hurting, and he let it happen.  

I honestly don’t know what else to say. Even though this chapter was filled with so much angst, I really liked it. It made me think more about everything in general, so thank you, Shanna. I can’t wait to read what happens next in a few short hours. I hope that everything is well!

P.S.- Also, I keep forgetting to mention this, but I’ve been really loving your headers for RTB! I also saw your spreadsheet for keeping track of your progress and I think that it’s really neat. Okay, sending you lots of love!💕

It was a gradual process. Like water slipping underneath the door, your feelings snuck in quietly and devastatingly. And like a slow flood, there was no stopping their gradual rise.

First of all, how beautiful is that quote?!?!?!?! My jaw, quite literally, dropped when I was reading this passage, but I feel as though I do that at least twice whenever I read one of your works.

I decided to read this tonight, during a moment where the world seemed quiet, and I was at peace for a little bit, because this story deserved to have a chance where it could be read and felt during a period where you could just sink right into it. And I think that’s why everything felt so intense. So full, so colorful and bright, but also dark in the way that the carnality and sensualness of it swam up and took ahold of my mind. 

This story was, without a doubt, absolutely beautiful. Your words always have a way of reaching me one way or another, but this one felt different, and I can’t find where to point my finger for its reasoning. It’s just, everything that you said in this story meant something. Every word and every sentence was placed so beautifully, and you made me feel certain emotions exactly where you aimed them to be. From the beginning with Yoongi and Namjoon and the feeling of uncertainty yet yearning, to the kitchen scene where my emotions were boiling in my chest, and finally ending where everything felt safe and serene, every moment was picture-perfect and I couldn’t have imagined it any other way.

Consent, and telling your partner what you want, is one of the, if not the sexiest thing imaginable. I felt like I was blushing the entire time since the kitchen scene. No, scratch that. I think it was the scene where the main character and Yoongi were dancing that made me done for. But the constant wanting of forwardness, of asking for what you want without any fear or shame, and the steady climax of reaching to that boldness of telling each other what they wanted was shown so wonderfully throughout the story. You see how much they yearn to please each other even during the moments where it feels the hardest to do so, the moment where the main character said “as the words rise to your throat, they stop on your tongue. As if by uttering your own desire you will shatter into a thousand pieces”, and you mapped this out so damn well.

Oh, and ending where they said:

“Will you stay?” you mumble into his chest.

“I’m staying,” he chuckled, pressing a kiss against your forehead. “For a while.”

I smiled so hard here, but I was also crying in my head and my throat felt a bit strained when I read this. 

It surprises me still that this is one of your first works/smuts that you've written because wow. You've always been such a strong and beautiful writer. But, it makes me a bit more emotional seeing you on this journey and watching as your voice and fingerprint become more and more prominent and shine through your stories. I feel like if you were to sit me in a room with a bunch of unnamed works, I would be able to easily tell yours apart. There's just something about it that makes me go, "Ah, this is Willow", and I think that feeling is very beautiful for me.

Thank you so much, Willow. Your writings always make my day, make me smile, and I'm always fascinated by the multitude of stories that you've conjured up so far. I can't wait to read more. My love is, and forever will be, yours.💕💕💕
