[Kharli loving Shanna as always]
Okay, so before I went off to focus on martial arts, I took dance....for three days. Not that that matters, but still, when I say that the dedication and perseverance and skills and complex technicalities of dance could easily parry with the skills of a fourth-degree black belt, I'm completely serious. Excuse my french, but that shit is hard!!! And when I was watching your video and reading over the positions and moves in the story, I was doing the awkward smile and nod thing like:
![[Kharli Loving Shanna As Always]](https://64.media.tumblr.com/3de476ba5aa4198eb35f701a9277c53e/1685ab8adb388cd3-66/s250x400/ae5b3a033e2b0a7f60db40db6a8a86c88dc5b834.gif)
Like yes I understand đmmmhmmmmđđđ
Anyways, I loved this chapter. It was such a smooth transition from previous events. It felt like a TV was playing inside my brain as I was reading because of the imagery and emotions felt within. And when Jimin was toying with her and wanted to actually hear her thanks??? Sickening. I loved it.Â
Also, the ending of the chapter where she was practicing contemporary (I think?) and switching to ballet was powerful in a way. The juxtaposition between showing the style that she loves and excels at felt light and vibrant and warm, while ballet, the style that she's working on, felt more grayish. Stagnant and a bit cold, especially after all of the events that happened. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but yeah.Â
Thank you so much Shanna for this chapter. It's always a pleasure reading your works because they make me so happy. I'm sending in lots and lots of love.

[The Kharli loving Shanna fest continuesđđ„]
Shanna, I really feel like each chapter of this series continues to get better and better, and you get to slowly see more and more sides of each character.
During the scene with Sabrina and the main character, I felt that they are almost like the Black Swan. Two entities that have different personas. Actually, and this may be a bit weird and you may look at me funny, but a part of me likes Sabrina. I don't know why, but I feel there more to her and the reason why she's a bit stone cold and closed off. And it's not like I can completely hate her or call her an antagonist (yet) because I understand where she's coming from. Itâs almost synonymous to the situation with Killmonger in Black Panther in the way that there are some truths being told that you canât disagree with and itâs hard to dislike them because of that. (But its also partly because Michael B. Jordan is one of the nicest looking human beings on this planet, and if he told me that the sun was purple I would be like yes. Yes it isđ). However, iif Sabrina does end up being completely mean, then I will completely retract this statement but also applaud you for writing such an amazing character.
I also really enjoyed reading about Jimin and a bit of his backstory when he was growing up. It ticked me off as I learned what he had to endure, but it was a moment where the only thing that you could see was pure and undoubted raw emotion and truth, and just his genuine love of dance. It hurt to read, but it was beautiful in a way. And I love how it carried on to the conversation of learning about the differences between where her and jimin grew up and learned dance. One is more so âfrom the concreteâ and one is pristine. It interesting to see those differences, but I think theyâre more alike than what they truly believe and I think that is why they seem to clash. Itâs like the quote from Hermann Hessee âIf you hate a person, you hate something in him that is part of yourself. What isn't part of ourselves doesn't disturb us.â, and I think that itâs really fitting.
Oh, and I canât forget the Fin and the whole girlfriend thing because that was suspicious as hell! Like...tf??? I think that he just used Ben and the whole "not being smart" thing as a cover in my opinion because that was SUS!!!Â
Iâm loving the way this series is developing so much. Thank you for making my day Shanna. I really appreciate and adore you. Iâm sending over my heart. đ

TW: mention of weigh-ins and weight
This chapter was so damn good! I feel like with each and every part, Iâm hanging off the edge of my seat, wondering whatâs going to happen next. Itâs like every week I get a burst of dopamine before my oncoming duties, and Iâm really glad that this is here to help me push through them.Â
Starting from the beginning, it felt as though everything was so picturesque. The way you described the main character's scene on her morning jog and the thoughts that were running through her mind felt so vivid and tangible, and itâs a moment that can currently see as Iâm typing this. When it got to the scene where she walked in Jimin and Sabrina, it felt like a scene from the office where I just had to look off to the side with my fingers rubbing at my temple saying âoh my godâŠâ. I was blushing for herđ©, Though I did find myself laughing during the scene of the partnered pirouettes. It was a nice break from the tension that we usually see between the two, and afterward, things just felt lighter and easier. That was until weigh-ins of course.
Okay so, remember how last week I told you that I didnât hate Sabrina that much because I kinda felt for her? Yeah, well, thatâs gone. Completely and utterly gone. The comments that she made during that scene made me so upset and I felt my heart sink to my stomach because I know what itâs like to be in that situation. Itâs terrifying and traumatizing, and all of the respect that I had for Sabrina went completely down the drain. Â
On a lighter note though, I think Iâm beginning to see how the relationship between Finn and the main character will start to pan out. Itâs a bit hazy, but in this scenario, you have two people who are dedicated to the new life that theyâre living, one being ballet and the other enjoying college life, and eventually, the constant distance between them will be the basis of their arguments (at least, thatâs my theory but you always surprise me). Though I did feel a little better at the end when Jimin said, âIâve always loved watching you danceâ. That was sweet, and you know that he truly meant every word he said (Iâm smiling at this moment again now because wow...WOW)
Anyways, thank you so much Shanna for this series. This has been enjoyable so far and I canât wait to see whatâs next! Sending you lots of loveđ

[The Kharli praising Shanna fest continues]
Oh my gosh! You would not believe how relieved I was to have a free day to catch up on this series. This story has been one of the things that I look forward to every week. Seeing how wonderfully this story is progressing and watching the fluctuations and changes of relationships occurring right under my nose has been entertaining to say the least.
First of all, Iâm so glad (as Iâm sure many others are) that Finn was not cheating. Even though I knew that he probably wouldnât do that, I couldnât help the bits of fear and the clenching of my teeth that came when the main character went to his dorm room. To watch how their relationship was covered in glittered and gold to this sort of slow fading is a bit sad to watch. And it's not something that they can just fix because it's always going to be there. The unsynchronized schedules and the fact that they are beginning to really find their footing in their respective places is really making a mark on them. It reminds me of some of the friendships that I've lost due to moving away for college. The distance and difference in schedules can sometimes make it difficult to reach out to those you care about, but I think if you truly want to make a relationship work, then you would do the best you could to make the most of what you have.
On a brighter note though, yay for Mr. Vlad not being an ass. A small victory, but one that made me smile. And, oh, did Jimin do more research on what tendonitis was? If he did, then that was so sweet. I liked reading that small convo because you can tell that bad blood aside (if it could be called that now), that he really does care about her. Â And, I also feel like once Sabrina gets that stick (or barre hehe) out of her ass, she and the main character could be somewhat like friends. Possibly. Maybe. I donât know, she still makes me side-eye her every time I think about the comments she made during the weigh-ins.
Thank you so much Shanna for this. This story, this chapter, and you have really made my night. Now, I will go take off my face mask because I think itâs beginning to suck the oils out of my skin. Thank you!! Sending you lots of loveđ

His gaze is so intense that people may think you are talking about world peace or other life altering matters, and most possibly completely oblivious to how his eyes are making you feel like you are floating in the air while being rooted in place at the same time.
That is just what Park Jimin does to you.
Hi Dia,
Being able to read your stories is truly an honor and a gift. I feel like all of your pieces should be mounted somewhere because of how exquisite they are. The emotions, the detail, every word written is a piece of art. Something so poetic and beautiful that even though I had to pause in my reading last night due to tiredness, the ability to bounce right back and reimmerse myself into this elegant world was as easy as breathing.Â
Jimin is difficult to characterize in just a few words. Heâs so polished. Charming and sweet. He knows how to make someone's heart flutter and keep himself in their mind for months. The way his presence moves people and urges them to gravitate toward him is astonishing. But, thereâs also so much more to him than whatâs shown in the limelight. Heâs seductive, sensual, but also delicate in the way he makes the main characterâs pleasure his own. Itâs definitely something to fawn over to have such a person being in your graces. Like this part:
But what makes it even more surreal is the fact that even when he has everyoneâs eyes on him, vying for his attention as they all hope to have at least a single glance of acknowledgement from Jimin, he only has his eyes on you.
This part made my heart flutter so much! And the way you see that same person carry on to the bedroom is so alluring. Itâs amazing to see how he treats the main character and how she allows him to show more of himself with so much comfort and love, and just their ultimate desire to please one another. I also loved the flashbacks and seeing how those contributed in this fantastic storyline. It was lovely, and all-in-all, a pleasure to read.Â
This is by far one of my favorite pieces of yours, but I feel as though I say that with every piece that I read from you. Thank you though Dia for this. You always make me so happy, and I thoroughly enjoy reading your stories. I hope that youâve been well. Sending you lots of love.đ

There is something surreal about seeing him in this light.
Up close and personal. So close, you can make out every single expression that he makes whenever he speaks. The air around him seems to crackle with every delicate movement he makes, his energy rippling in the air to summon everyoneâs attention on him, including yours.
But what makes it even more surreal is the fact that even when he has everyoneâs eyes on him, vying for his attention as they all hope to have at least a single glance of acknowledgement from Jimin, he only has his eyes on you.
The same way he is doing it to you now, giving you his rapt attention even when you are chatting about something so trivialâyour daily routines, the short encounter you had earlier today with Mr. Rasheed from next door, a simple joke shared by one of your co-workers at the office todayâbetween sipping wine and savouring your meal. His gaze is so intense that people may think you are talking about world peace or other life altering matters, and most possibly completely oblivious to how his eyes are making you feel like you are floating in the air while being rooted in place at the same time.

[You already know what it isđ]
After careful debate (not really) on whether or not I should save this until Friday (I already had my mind made up by the time I saw the post), I decided to give myself some extra love and read this before the absolute shitshow day of wonder and fufillment that will occur this week (one of my best friends is turning 21 and Iâm on âsober friend dutyâ while weâre in an apartment soâŠ..đ)
OH MY GOOSSSSHHHH!
With all things being considered, this is by far one of my favorite chapters of this series. Iâm not sure why. Maybe itâs because now weâre beginning to see this strengthening relationship between Jimin and the main character. Maybe itâs because sheâs finally getting the praise she deserves from her instructors. Or maybe itâs just because youâre you Shanna, and I always love everything that you post.
But really, I thoroughly enjoyed this chapter a lot. I loved reading about how Jimin was as cautious as ever over her and her ankle and hearing Mr. Vlad call her a âtalented dancerâ. Like, when I read that I gasped, and Noelle and I had the same exact reaction to that. Iâm just really loving that for her and honestly, she deserves all of the love in the world.
What Iâm not loving, however, was reading about how Finn treated her in the club. Honestly, if he wouldâve said, âHey, yeah sure. Do you mind us dancing to one more song first, then we can go?â That wouldâve fine, but noooooo. She had every right to be mad at him. He was a complete asshole! And turning off his phone? On his girlfriend?!?! Yeah, umâŠ.I would have had to call it quits. And itâs not even like sheâs asking for much. They both know each otherâs schedules now, and you would think that he would be more forgiving and understanding due to her more rigid one and try to work along with that. As someone said, collaborate, not compromise, and I think there was definitely a better way to handle that. Â
Rant aside, I canât believe weâre halfway done with the series now. Itâs been really nice to read all the chapters, and I look forward to each and every one of your posts. Itâs been truly an honor to read not only this series, but any other piece that youâve written so thank you Shanna. Iâm sending you lots and lots and lots and lots of love.đ
P.S.- I wonder if it was Jimin who she called. He does have a car, right?.....

[This was seriously long overdue. Hi Vi!!!!]
Hi Vi,
Itâs been a while. I hope that youâve been doing okay. I know that Iâm a bit late to âThe Alphaâ train, but hopefully, I can jump on board and catch up. Iâve been spoiling myself with all of the asks and a spark of fate (or maybe just procrastination thatâs eating me up) finally led me back to you. To this. To this beautiful world that gripped me by my shoulders and sucked me in from the very start.Â
Itâs truly amazing how much has been packed within this first part. You see the first glimpses of the world surrounding them. You see some of the character dynamics shine through (especially in the way Jimin takes his place beside Namjoon unsurprisingly and with a hint of what could be called resentment thatâs mixed in with his pessimistic tone. But you also see from the Lunaâs side how she is is going through her own trials too. Growing up and having to mate with someone who she doesnât have feelings for. Someone that makes her feel âemptyâ like you said. It struck hard though when you wrote:
âIt wonât matter once you scent him. Youâll want him then.â
Your motherâs words echoed reassuringly in your head.
âIâll want him then,â you whispered as the blindfold tightened around your eyes.
Like, thatâs so sad and I really felt for her then. But now that the circumstances are definitely not what was perceived, I honestly so curious to see how this will all play out. Thank you so much Vi for this series. I canât wait to catch up. Sending you lots of love.đ
Edit: Also, I forgot to add this in, but I really liked this part âThe whispers and gasps were deafening. Reverent silence utterly shattered.â It just feels really dark and sharp like ice, and it took my breath away when I read it. Okay, thatâs all. Thank you again!đ

âThis cannot be right-â
âIt canât be him-â
It was supposed to be Namjoon. And in the incredibly off chance that it wasnât - then it was definitely Jungkook.
Not Jimin.
Never Jimin.
Most people had trouble even believing the youngest Park was an alphaâŠ
Let alone The Alpha.
Everything up to this moment had gone according to plan.
Twenty years ago a new Luna had come into the world; the latest in a line of powerful Omega women.
Silver hair. Silver eyes.
There was no mistaking the new moon princess. You were utterly exquisite from the day you were born.
And the ritual of a Lunaâs ascension was intimately familiar after hundreds of years.
Every step planned and expected. Every outcome predicted.
On the midnight of her twentieth birthday, a Luna, the true born moon princess, came of age.
Her wolf would emerge and change her body, heightening her senses for the first time.
And for the first time, she would know the scent of her mate.
The Alpha.
The next king by right - by divine mandate.
And there was no question who it would be.
Kim Namjoon was the strongest, the smartest, the fastest, the largest - the most absurdly obvious alpha in the entire pack.
Everyone knew what would happen. It was so predictable that some people hadnât even bothered to attend the ceremony.
First, the elders would bring you back to the sacred circle after your change.
You would be blindfolded to ensure that your eyes would not deceive your other senses.
Then, the unmated alphas would line the circleâs perimeter, watching with bated breath as you were guided toward the center by the chief elder.
Finally, you would breathe deeply and approach Kim Namjoon, following the ancient pull of a mating bond that bound you to the one true alpha of your pack.
âŠBut that is not what happened.

Okay so first of all, I just had to let you know that I straight-up laughed when Taehyungâs only reason for following the others into the council chamber was because he was being nosy. It was a nice break in the tense air, and I feel like Iâm going to love his character a lot later. And Yoongiâs too. I canât wait to learn more about Yoonji, Seokjin, and see what happens next with the challenge and the whole compelling situation (And does the Luna possibly have a crush on Jimin?????)

You fell to your knees, uttering the one word that would complete the ritual and seal both your fates.
âAlpha.â
Then all hell broke loose. Noise and movement erupted on every side.
âOh my goddess, Yoonji is gonna be so pissed she missed this!â Min Yoongi whooped loudly from across the circle.
Your forehead furrowed in confusion as chaos escalated around you. The blindfold was still in place as you were technically not permitted to remove it till the ceremony was officially dismissed.
What is happening? Whatâs wrong?
Suddenly the chief elder charged into the fray, waving his hands wildly like a spastic pixie.
âMy brothers and sisters we must - er - strive to consider this unexpected turn of events as-â
âWhat have you done?!â
You recognized that voice - your mother - hissing frantically in your ear. She must have breached the circle to get to you.
A hand (probably your mother again) wrapped around your elbow, yanking you roughly to your feet and you yelped in pain-
âSTOP!â
The person manhandling you froze immediately. Silence crashed down like a hammer.
ââŠTake your hands off my mate.â
The words were spoken softly this time, but there was no mistaking the weight of an alpha command. The grip on your arm fell away without hesitation.
Unease began to churn heavily in the pit of your stomach.
You didnât recognize his voice.
You had no idea who your mate was.

Park Jimin was going to die violently and there was nothing he could do about it.Â
So after fatefully crying, and then fist-pumping, to BE, I'm back.Â
To be completely honest, I loved this part so, so, much. I loved the fact that we had a moment of sassy Jimin standing his ground to Namjoon and biting back (no pun intended). But Jimin has a point. I mean, I wouldnât want someone to be like âI plan on killing you because I donât think youâre the most worthy, but no hard feelings, right?â like wtf?!?!! I also wonder why Jimin chose to fight in human form out of the others. Maybe it was to show that he could be strong without the extra capabilities? Maybe it was to be more authentic? Iâm not sure, but when I read that I was surprised, but I also found myself feeling a bit proud and understanding even though if this goes bad, the scene would be quite tragic and devastating, and just down-right brutal.
On that note too, Namjoon made my blood start to simmer with his snide comments. He sounds like a complete asshole. An overly confident and smart one who needs to be taken down a few pegs, but still an ass.Â
I love it.Â
But I actually softened up on him during the scene with Yunli because you know that thereâs something deeper there in their connection. There was just something in that moment that felt so soul-bonding and unique with them even though I barely know anything about them yet. I'm really interested to see how their story goes later on because it's very pulling and I love this trope.
Another part that I enjoyed was this one:
A strange, desperate frustration overtook you.
He was too far away - and Namjoon was going to take him from you before you could touch him again - before you could breathe him in again-
The cruel wind continued to pull your fragrance toward Jimin like an erotic incense, yet it offered you no such gift in return. You could not discern his scent and you wanted to - needed to - with a voracity that was almost blinding.
PleaseâŠ
This was just so well-written and emotional, and you see the connection between the Luna and Jimin start to come to fruition in a more prominent way. I mean, Jimin knew what she needed and sent her the braided cloth to help ease her. And it's even more telling when paired with when the Luna said before that she would do anything to save him. Like wow. Wow, okay. So we're really doing this today.Â
I can't wait to learn more about Jin and his omega-ness because the part where he released his pheromones was really cool. And I wonder what's going on with the table tooâŠ
Anyways, I think that I'm done rambling, but if you've been reading my comments so far, then thank you. Sorry that this is long. But I cant wait to sink my teeth into the next parts (pun intended). Thank you so much Vi! I'm sending you my loveđđđ

âLuna rex provocatione means âthe moon kingâs challenge.â It is never invoked lightly as its consequences are grave indeed⊠If an alpha believes that he is the true Alpha and the goddess has placed another in his path as a test of worthiness and dedication to the pack, then he will acknowledge his acceptance of this test by declaring luna rex provocatione. Once the challenge has been set forth only the death of the Lunaâs first mate or the total surrender of the challenger can satisfy itâŠâ
Text of the traditional speech given by a chief elder to begin a luna rex provocatione ritual [7th century]

âI know you wonât understand, but this isnât personal-â
Jimin offered his rival an overtly feigned smile.
âYou plan to kill me and claim my mate. Which part of that could I possibly take personally?â
Tae snorted somewhere in the background and Yoongi elbowed him hard.
Tradition dictated that both alphas meet with their second-in-commands in the chief elderâs chambers to discuss the terms of combat.
Namjoon brought Min Yoongi and Jimin had somehow ended up with Taehyung.
He didnât remember actually agreeing to make Tae his secondâŠ
It just sort of happened somewhere between calming his hysterical mother and quickly reading up on archaic pack law.
The chief elder coughed uncomfortably. Goddess, this ascension was supposed to be easy. He never in a million moons thought heâd be in this position.
The last chief elder who oversaw a luna rex provocatione ritual had immortalized it in his journal as âthe single most horrific moment of my life,â describing in detail the Luna howling in torment at the loss of her mate and the victor collapsing over the corpse of his foe in misery and guilt.
As in the past, the outcome of this conflict was already decided by fateâŠ
Pain and regret weighed heavily on the older man as he considered the younger of the two alphas.
Park Jimin was going to die violently and there was nothing he could do about it.
âBecause Kim Namjoon issued the challenge, his opponent will decide combat form. Your choices are human form, half-shifted, and wolf-form. After your choice is declared, Namjoon may add a minor alteration if he so desires. Park Jimin, please declare form.â
âHuman,â he answered softly - and every single occupant of the room recoiled in response.
It was bad enough to witness a fight in wolf form or half-shifted⊠but to engage in ritual combat as a human-
It would be brutal - even psychologically disturbing - without the benefit of a wolfâs hide to mask the savagery.
Namjoonâs eyes widened in shock, but he recovered quickly.
âI request teeth and claws.â
Not quite a half-shift. Teeth and claws allowed for attacks using lengthened canines and claws.
It could make a kill slightly more⊠humane.
Jimin nodded and the elder pressed his seal over the first of the terms.

âRemember, timing is everything. Never let your opponent see what youâre going to do.â
Well, I for one, definitely did not see this coming.Â
Wow...I actually had to sit for a few moments to collect my thoughts because this chapter was everything! First, can we talk about how the Luna came to the ritual dressed in red??!? There was just something so powerful in that act since usually, they would wear blue. But she is so loyal to Jimin and her wearing the red cloak was basically her saying, âIf you fight him, then you fight me tooâ, you know? Rather than an âact of defianceâ, to me, it was one of honor, and that set another staple in stone of how truly she cares about her mate. Â
Also, Jimin learning taekwondo!!?!? YES!!! I honestly wasnât expecting that, but Iâm so proud. And everything clicked after that because now you know why he chose to fight in human form, and you see how strong he is with how he literally broke that table in half (also, my heart felt for him a bit more because I used to take taekwondo too and in my mind I was like âYes Jimin!!!â)
Iâm glad that Jimin had Taemin to guide him. He seems sweet, and his words of encouragement were so touching. Especially this part:
âNo. I think youâve got it all wrong, Park Jimin. No one achieves what you have without knowing who they are. Youâve always been a fighter and some part of you realizes that.â He sighed heavily and finished off the rest of his drink. âNow I think youâre just⊠waiting.â
âFor what?â Jimin chuckled playfully.Â
Taemin pulled out another bottle and met his gaze with a knowing grin.Â
âSomething worth fighting for.â
UGHHHH! My heart was so full here. I wish I had more to say but Iâm still kinda in shock and Iâm eager to continue on reading. Though I do have to add that seeing another moment between Namjoon and Yunli was pretty touching even though it felt as if my heart was shattering along with hers. And when you said that for the Lunaâs seventeenth birthday, her only wish was Jimin but he didnât come to her party?!?! Are you trying to make me cry??!? But I feel a little bit better knowing that Yoonji is off corrupting Tae on the side lmao!! That made me giggle.Â
Okay, now Iâm off to the next part because Iâm feeling pretty antsy and impatient right now to see what happens next with everything going on. See you soon Vi!!!!!

âYou canât do this, Luna ⊠Come back inside.â
Your hand tightened on the doorknob.
âI was just going out for some air-â
Jin shook his head, letting his lanky frame collapse onto the overstuffed chair by the fireplace.Â
âAnd after the air⊠then what?â
Your terse silence was confirmation enough.Â
He sighed heavily, hating himself a little for what he had to do.Â
âYou cannot go to him. Theyâll smell you on his skin and it could cost him⊠dearly.â
Your eyes fluttered shut.
âI just wanted to see himâŠ,â you whispered. âI wanted to talk to him just once before-â
A sob bubbled up in your throat and your hand flew up to cover it.Â
The dawn would come in two hours.Â
And then Park Jimin would be gone.Â
Jinâs arms wrapped around your shoulders and you fell against him hopelessly.Â
âTheyâre going to make me watch, Jin-ah. I-I have to watch him-â
Bitter tears overtook you, wracking your body with the violence of your despair.Â
âI knowâŠ,â he murmured softly into your hair, âI know.âÂ

âDo you think heâll really show up?â
The chief elder glared fiercely at the young man who dared voice such a question.Â
The entire pack had jammed themselves into the clearing where the challenge was taking place and despite the solemnity of the occasion, the atmosphere buzzed with barely contained speculation.Â
âPark Jimin was chosen by the goddess herself to be her champion or to be the divine test of her champion. Have some respect,â he hissed.Â
The young pup had the decency to look abashed, but the chief elder was already ignoring him in favor of the newest arrivalâŠÂ
A Luna wore only three ceremonial colors at any given time.Â
Green for celebration and harvest was worn in times of laughter and gaiety.Â
Blue for mourning and peaceful resolve was worn in times of trial and hardship.Â
Red for passion and vengeance was worn in times of war and signified the sacred bonds that wove the pack together.Â
Your mother laid out a blue cloak as it was the color chosen by every Luna who had ever faced down a provocatione ritual.
But you arrived in sumptuous Red.Â
It was a stunning act of defiance, a wordless declaration of your fury. You were here to obey the goddess, but in a crimson cloak you would not embrace this challenge with peaceful resolve.Â
An attack upon your mate, even under these circumstances, was an attack upon you.Â
You had come dressed for war.Â

Authorâs Note: I agonized over the best way to tell this particular part of the story. A profound thanks is owed to @xjoonchildx @taetaewonderland @underthejoon and @ppersonna for being amazing friends but the best betas and creative soundboards a silly girl like me could ask for. I cannot overstate the importance of people who will genuinely build up your work as well as analyze it with a critical eye. Ladies, you make my writing sparkle and my heart soar. That being said, I truly hope you like this installment because it is extremely tense and pivotal. Thank you all for every bit of love you send my way. I cherish it so muchâŠ

Jimin smiled, letting his razor sharp canines lengthen menacingly as he flowed back into a perfect combat stance.Â
âYou didnât think Iâd just let you have her, did you?â
Namjoon scrambled drunkenly to his feet, still struggling to process the strange turn of events.Â
âWhat is this?â he hissed. âAre you enchanted?â
Jimin snarled at the insinuation.Â
âThe circle would have killed me if I crossed its boundaries under a spell. You know that.â
He did know that.Â
Every fifty years or so a wolf got it into their head that the circleâs power was nothing more than a myth.Â
They always learned the hard way.Â
âThen⊠how?!â
The corner of Jiminâs lips twitched ever so slightly as he recalled years of discipline, training, frustration, pain-

âSo⊠you can beat him⊠in human form?â
Jimin nodded slowly.Â
âBeating him isnât the problem,â he muttered. âIn order for me to win, Namjoon must surrender, which leaves only two possible options.â
Taehyung shifted uncomfortably.Â
âAnd they are?â
â⊠Either my alpha command is strong enough to compel a submission or-â his eyes dropped to his hands, â⊠or I have to kill him.â
The words lingered heavily between them. After a few moments Tae breathed out an incredulous snort.Â
âAll this time⊠everyone believed you were torn up about dying,â he shook his head, âbut this is what youâre afraid of, isnât it?â
Taehyung met his solemn gaze with quiet understanding.Â
âThatâs why you wouldnât let your mother watch the fight. You donât want to take his life, but if you have toâŠâ
Jiminâs jaw clenched imperceptibly. When he spoke, his voice was barely above a whisper.Â
âI didnât want her to see it.â

âJimin.â
âIâm here. I have you,â he whispered.Â
Whew, okay so now that Iâve had some time to step away and recollect my thoughts (because quite honestly, I was a mess the last time), Iâm back. Honestly, this part was so touching and I enjoyed the fact that now we get to see some of the characters in a different light. One part that immediately grabbed my attention was the scene where Jimin and Namjoon were reconciling. It was wholesome and thoughtful, and you see that these two characters, even though different, are able to work well together. I think itâs like a push-pull relationship, but one thatâs needed nonetheless because you know that as powerhouses, their endgoal is to protect and serve to the best of their abilities. I also really liked what Jimin said here because of that:
âI spared your life because it was well worth sparing. You have always led your clan with honor and dignity. You donât strike me as someone who enjoys killing, yet you were willing to do so for the good of our people. Such a man is a far better example alive than he is dead.â
I also enjoyed seeing the Luna coming to terms with her feelings, albeit slowly. But you know without a doubt that she cares about Jimin in the ways that he does to her. It was quite entertaining to see her become this overprotective entity (but tbh, I would do the same if I was in her position), as well as see Namjoon FINALLY caving into his own feelings.
All in all, I'm really happy about this part. I'm happy that Jimin and the Luna can be together and that Namjoon found peace in his defeat. More so, I'm glad that Jimin and Namjoon are working alongside each other. It was an unforeseen fate, but one that I'm happy about. Now I'm curious to see why Yoonji is upset about Tae being the head of the Kim clan and what that means for them.Â
Anywho, thank you thank you thank you thank you THANK YOU Vi! You are such a wonderful and beautiful and talented human-being and just MWAH! Iâm sending you all the smooches and love in the world! I canât wait to see what happens in the next part. đđđ

My thanks to ALL of you for helping me bring this story to life!

âAlpha.âÂ
Namjoonâs voice echoed through the clearing with profound resonance.Â
There would be no more fighting.Â
There would be no more doubt.
It was a complete surrender, the kind only a true Alpha could compel.Â
A frantic whimper suddenly split the air, drawing every eye to you-
 But you saw only him.Â
âUntie me,â you pleaded, struggling impatiently against the restraints.Â
One of the elders moved to release you, but before she could, Jin produced a knife and cut you free with the kind of terrifying precision expected of a man who was every bit as deadly as he was beautiful.Â
Then you were running - and this time, no one could stop you.Â
Your body crashed into his and fiery joy shot through you as he pulled you into his arms.Â
His scent wrapped around your senses like a warm blanket, covering the fear and pain of the past days in unimaginable relief.Â
 âJimin.â
âIâm here. I have you,â he whispered.Â
Your entire frame seemed to shake as you sobbed against his chest. It was as if you could not draw close enough - could not hold tight enough - to be satisfied. Part of you was still terrified that you would wake up and discover that all of this had been a dreamâŠ
Then you heard it.
Another set of knees hitting the ground.Â
âAlpha.â
Then another-
âAlpha.â
And anotherÂ
âAlpha.â
Till the air was filled with hundreds of voices, all speaking the same word.
âAlpha.â

Namjoon remembered very little of what happened after his surrenderâŠ
Just pain.Â
His limbs seemed oddly disconnected from the rest of his body. There was blood everywhere (and he was reasonably sure it was his).Â
He knew he should feel defeated, broken - ashamed even.
Instead he felt strangelyâŠ
Light.Â
As if a great weight had lifted from his shoulders.Â
The last thing he saw before losing consciousness entirely was Yunliâs tear-stained gaze - still fixed on him - even as the others turned to face their new Alpha.Â
He breathed out her name in a quiet, desperate plea as the darkness overtook him.Â

[A big YAY! for Grammy award-nominated BTSđ„łđ„° Now, Hi Shanna! How are you? I hope that youâre swell]
Before I start off with anything else, I would first like to say...I KNEW IT HAHAHAHAHAHA!! Big Brain Energy!!!! My last brain cell was there for me because GOD would it have been embarrassing for me if someone else came to pick her up.
All jokes aside, I'm actually really glad though that Jimin was there for her. Not because we're beginning to see this slow-burn start to burn (even though it is one of the highlights), but you get to see them as people, not dance students who are competing to be the best in their class. I mean, the last time we've seen them to the closest to this level of normalcy was in the first part during sign-ups (and we all know how that went). But, there was just a comfort in knowing that you have these two people who are slowly progressing along in their newly established friendship. They can laugh together. They can share their worries and problems with each other. And most of all, they feel comfortable with each other now, and I think that's really beautiful and I love how you mapped this out Shanna. I also really enjoyed the piece you put in about how the main character used to watch Jimin during competitions. It was nice and it made my heart swell even further because Jimin did the same to her, and I just really love the connection and the whole sense of admiration that they share with one another. You come to find that they are actually more similar than you might have thought initially, and Iâm enjoying watching how their relationship is blooming.
Iâm also glad that she and Finn were able to reconcile, but it just didnât feel...I donât know, whole? Like yeah, they are slowly but surely working together to resolve any patches in their relationship, and maybe this is part of what it means to be in a relationship (I wouldnât know though, Iâve been single for 20 yearsđ ), or maybe Iâm just being biased, but that conversation still had a lingering emptiness, and Iâm not sure if it will be resolved. Especially now since we see that might have a small crush on Jimin flourishing, which was really entertaining to read.
Like always, thank you so much Shanna for your works. They never fail to make my day brighter and Iâm giving you my most sincere gratitude for just being an amazing person in general. I hope that youâve been well. Sending you all of my love.đÂ

[Not @ me having a dream about reading this chapter before I actually did lmaooo!]
Honestly, you would not believe the chokehold this week has held on me. Like...SHIT! Can a bitch breathe?!?!
Sorry. Iâm usually more composed and eloquent whenever I do this, but...damn! You know?Â
AnywaysâŠ
Hi Shanna. Honestly, there are no words that I could express right now having read this because I feel like everyone else has said the things that I would like to say (yeah, I kinda spoiled myself a little before reading this chapter), but wow. The way this story is continuing to unfold, and so cinematically too, is just leaving me speechless.Â
Starting off, I love the small nod to Namjoon during the coffee shop scene. It was light. Witty. A bit strained though and that's why I couldnât help but wonder if the main character and Finn are actually going to break the glass ceiling back into normality. Theyâre trying, but it only seems to be scratching at the surface, and thereâs only so much that you can do before your arms get tired and you eventually just give up. Itâs sad now that Iâm actually putting words to this, but Iâm very glad that youâre bringing out these emotions in me.Â
I also really enjoyed Jungkookâs appearance in this and noticing how Jimin was more tense than usual. To be honest, I laughed when you panned over to stiff Jimin when he was packing up from class. Sabrina though was someone that stood out to me the most during this chapter. It was interesting seeing her in this new light. From seeing her so sure and confident in herself, someone who is so firm and sturdy and poised, to seeing her with cracks in her persona. Seeing her look more âhumanâ and softening around the edges. It made me sit up a little and pay attention to her more because this was so different than how we usually see her, so Iâm looking forward to her arc, if she does have one, later.Â
When it came to the party, it was a moment that I knew would ruin me (it was also at this scene where I realized that Noelle Monique from Kim Possible. If that's true then Sabrina is totally Bonnie). Anyways, Jimin and Hoseoks Halloween costume?!?!?!? Shanna!! And when Jimin said, "Things happen for reason, right?" OOP- (Iâm sorry, my brain kinda gave up on me here and I was in a continuous mindset of what the actual fuc-Â
So the party, part two!! My last brain cell came back here, so I was able to think a lot about what you wrote here. One thing that really came about was just the irony that even though she and Finn are close, they couldn't be further apart. Itâs saddening. It's like watching an accident about to happen so you kinda just have to brace yourself until the impact and just pray that the aftermath isnât terribly disastrous. I also was reflecting a lot on the parallels between what happened with her and Finn at the club versus her and Jimin: she didnât dance with Finn, but she did with Jimin. Alcohol got spilled on her and she was upset, alcohol got spilled on someone else and she laughed. But in both instances, Jimin was there for her in the end. Except for, you know, after THAT. And finally, FINALLY, Sabrina got the talk that she needed to knock her down a peg. Though I'm curious to see what's going on on her side of things and see if sheâll take the main characterâs comments and actually take them to heart. No matter how many times I say that I feel a bit aversive to Sabrina, there is still a part of me that feels for her. Thereâs so much potential underneath...and⊠and maybe a part of me wants to give her a hug. I donât know though. Sheâd probably kick me in the gut while she does a grand plie or something with a smile on her face. Still love her though!
Also, I love Noelle. So, so much. When she got the call from the mc, she didnât ask any questions and dropped everything was there for her right then and there. And the rest of the ending reminded me of a TikTok where a girl said to let your friends be the standard for your relationships and that was so crystal clear right then and there.Â
I donât know how things will pan out from here, to be honest, I kept trying to come up with theories but now Iâm just here for this very enjoyable and emotional ride. Thank you so much Shanna for this. Iâll always be cheering you on. Sending you lots and lots and lots and lots of love!đđ

[When is the pain train going to go away???đđđđ]
I released the biggest sigh once I got here. And by here, I mean both reading this part of RTB and typing out my feelings about it. Itâs not like I didnât expect all of this to blow up at some point, but I just didnât think that the damage would be so catastrophic.
The way that you built up everything though was really good. I loved that you didnât hold back on this part. The way you filled in holes and logically explained the thoughts circulating throughout the main characterâs mind and making us realize that thoughts aren't as linear as you may think. Especially when emotions and logic are at war. That just makes them more human, and thatâs what you see here with her. She bottled everything up because she wanted to find a clear path to just letting everything out, but you donât get that at all. Instead, you see her slowly drowning in her own head until she said fuck it and dealt with it on her own.Â
The argument that happened really opened my eyes, mainly because you see that no one was in the right. Even Yoongi because he played a role in the main characterâs feelings and mindset. You see both of their faults, so rawly too, and it was surprising at how well it was done. Anger is just a shield for sadness, and you can tell how hurt they are through their words. Though the lowest blow for me was when Finn said that she wouldnât make it, because like you said, he mustâve thought that before and it hurts to know that not even the person you love (?) doesnât support you.Â
And what happened next shocked me even more. Cheating is unforgivable in my eyes, so seeing the main character and Jimin kiss was like a big blow to the gut. Because usually when you see the main characters kiss for the first time, itâs after the dust settles and everything is good. But everything was not good and it made the situation even worse. I feel disappointed in them both, Jimin and the main character, but a little more so toward Jimin, because he knew that she was in a relationship and was hurting, and he let it happen. Â
I honestly donât know what else to say. Even though this chapter was filled with so much angst, I really liked it. It made me think more about everything in general, so thank you, Shanna. I canât wait to read what happens next in a few short hours. I hope that everything is well!
P.S.- Also, I keep forgetting to mention this, but Iâve been really loving your headers for RTB! I also saw your spreadsheet for keeping track of your progress and I think that itâs really neat. Okay, sending you lots of love!đ

[Iâm not sure if itâs a blessing or a curse that Iâm reading this on a cloudy day]
So, weâve reached part two of the climax for this series and my heart still hurts.
To be honest, Iâm not sure exactly where to start off with this because this chapter was just so dark and angsty. I think between this one and the last, this part felt more heavy and emotional, and all of the angst was more prominent here, at least for me.Â
One thing that I really want to address is the string of confusion and heartache that ran all the way through this part. It was like little pieces of sticky tape filed with different events grappling on and on until the end, where you realize that deep down, the main character has always known what sheâs wanted and how sheâs felt about Finn and Jimin. About how to handle loving someone but not being in love possibly (hopefully I'm not reading this the wrong way) and acknowledging that she is holding different types of love in her heart. I wouldnât necessarily call what her feelings are for Jimin âloveâ quite yet, but possibly infatuation and admiration? All the things you feel with a crush and everything is just sort of weighing heavy in your heart. I mean, she did admit that the complement that she received from Miss Vern didnât feel as impactful as one that did whenever it came from Jimin.Â
Speaking of which, when it came to the dance scene and you lean its theme, it honestly made me go "oof" and cringe a little. That was a bit too on the nose and I was clenching my teeth because it didnât know how it would go for them. But, I can honestly say that that scene was the most vividly pictured and emotionally felt scene Iâve ever come across. My heart was racing as the dance steps were first introduced and carried on, so full of tension and anger yet love that's bubbling at the bottom of everything. It was beautiful and moving and so, so passionate, and I actually teared up a little here because of how overwhelmed I was. And the applause that came afterward was well deserved, but it was bittersweet knowing that part of the emotion was due to all of the external events around them and that their life is too still carrying on. And it showed after the fact once the praise settled and you realize that the main character and Jimin and just everyone else involved in this situation is still hurting.Â
The phone call that the main character made to her mom was something that was needed, and it also made me realize just how much had happened over this entire series. I just think that itâs amazing how one event can change something forever. Like, if she hadn't gotten into dance school, would she still be with Finn? Would she eventually get a crush on Jimin? But most importantly, would she feel as confident in her capabilities as she is now, both in dance and being emotionally cognizant? Maybe all of this was a good thing. Maybe not. Hopefully good though, but of course, only you know the outcome for now.Â
This chapter also gave me time to think more and reflect on the last chapter especially. Even though my words are still true, I feel a bit more open, kinder, and understanding of the main characterâs situation. Everyone makes mistakes, but each one allows you to grow and you see how far she has matured not only through this, but throughout the entirety of the series. I think that her arc is the most meaningful to me because of this. Sheâs flawed, but she notes them and learns through them and doesnât let them hold her back. Iâm proud of the young woman that sheâs become, and I feel grateful to know that this isnât the end of her growth period. Iâm not sure how the final two chapters are going to go, but Iâm excited nonetheless.Â
I just wanna hug her and tell her, as the great Hanna Montana once sang âEverybody makes mistakes, everybody has those daysâ (Iâm laughing at this harder than I should be, but itâs only to help drown out the pain that Iâm feeling), but honestly, this chapter was needed and I loved how you executed it. Thank you for making me feel these things, Shanna. Itâs been a while since Iâve been so moved by a piece writing, and itâs a wonderful welcoming. I know that this part will be something that I remeber for a while. Thank you again! I canât wait to see whatâs next. Sending you all of my loveđ
P.S.- Also, I saw that thereâs this new Netflix show called âTiny Pretty Thingsâ thatâs coming out about ballet dancers and I feel like ever since RTB has come out, Iâve been seeing sooo many things about balletđ

Writing reviews never get easier because Iâm always stumbling on how to start these off, but hi Rain! It was only a few days ago when I was watching Alice In Borderland (a show that is so, so good and one that I highly recommend) with the thought that I could binge the entire eight episodes in a night. But then you messaged me, and all thoughts of that went away because I would let the sky fall out of my grasp if you needed me. And you send me the preview of the first scene of this story. Thank you for letting me have the chance to get a sneak peek of this, though the Kharli back then wouldn't have ever known how much this story would truly make her feel, and for that, Iâm so grateful that you had me in mind.Â
First, I loved the atmosphere of this story. Itâs Christmas but with a little more glitz and glamour, and it felt so luxurious to just be surrounded by the world that you created. Jimin and the main character were also really interesting. They had their moments where they bickered and bantered, but I feel like there was a mutual respect deep down for each other that you see as the story went further along. For example, during the conversation with Nikita and Natacha, it was almost like Jimin was protecting her when they were talking about money and working. And vice versa when the main character swapped dinner dishes with Jimin because she remembered that he didnât like seafood. That felt intimate even though theyâre trying to work around the barriers of their relationship, but if you bring Jungkook into the picture, you see that there is a fine line between the two men and how she views them: one with logic and the other with emotion. But, whatâs nice is that you see her view of them begin to swap as it nears the end and that was really beautiful to notice.Â
Also, can I say that the text messages that Jungkook sent pain to my heart. You write angst so well. The moments right after Jungkook went into that room were so poignant and moving. You could tell how much Jungkook wanted her back, and how her walls were beginning to come down around him during their talk.Â
And afterward, when Jimin said this:
âIâm sorry,â he murmurs as he pulls you in close, the first strings of a tango hitting the air.
âWhat for?â
âFor putting that look on your face.â
Ooof!!
Did my heart break a little more at the âStill With Youâ piece? Yes. Yes it did.
And did my heart completely shatter at this:Â
âBut what really made up my mind is what you wrote for your intro page on the firm website. That separations and divorces arenât failures, theyâre beginnings. Proof that believed in something and tried to find happiness at least once.â
A million and one times. Wait...now make that a million and two. This actually felt like a note to my younger self. A me who was caught in the middle of separating parents and had no one to turn to. I wish that she could have read this part because I think she would have been a bit more comforted and at ease.Â
I can say that the ending filled and soothed the crevices of my heart and pulled the pieces back together. Thank you for this Rain, and thank you for getting me to sniffle a little. It felt nice to have these emotions pulled out of me. Thank you so much again! I'll love you and your stories until forever, and if there's something else after that, until then toođ
Warm Hands (Ice Cold Heart) | PJM {M}

for those of you who belong to the upper echelons of society, the holidays are synonymous with parties. lavish and (in your opinion) excessive gatherings â opportunities to show off what youâve accomplished and acquired over the year. unfortunately for you, tonightâs particular celebration features two special guests: the man you thought you would be with for the rest of your life, and the man you married.

Your husbandâs voice is carefully light, a brief exhale as his lips brush the outer shell of your ear. Warmth spreads from where his palm holds the side of your waist, the fabric of your sheath dress an obviously inadequate barrier against him as you climb the elaborate stairs leading into the mansion, into the noise.
âIâm trying,â you snap back, though the attitude you want to give him is a challenge when your mouth is deliberately curved up to look genuine. Every step you take seems to further exasperate the nerves that have been buzzing in your chest and stomach since well before you arrived here for the party. The damn nerves that have been prickling at you ever since you learned a few days ago of a certain name being on the guest list for tonight.

[On the 23rd day of Christmas Shanna gave to meâŠ.tears. And heartache. But with a sprinkle of well-needed reliefđ]
Hi Shanna,
First, I would like to tell you thank you for making this series. I think that before this, you were on a hiatus and were working on other things, but Iâm so sincerely thankful that you wrote this story and shared it with us. Itâs been a pleasure reading this every week and coming into your messages to scream and laugh and cry along the way, so thank you.Â
I honestly thought that the last part would be the last time my eyes got a little misty, but itâs okay. I never mind crying if youâre the one whoâs making me do it (for good reasons...sort of...kinda. Itâs a bit weird in this context, but anyway), I was able to relate a lot to the main character in this part. It felt like she was done with Finn before even talking to him, and even though it stings to admit, in my opinion, I just think that she knew that on the other side would be happiness, and that is what she was striving for. The feeling of being free from hurt and pain, and I donât think itâs wrong to want that. Especially after everything they went through. And when I realized that Finn cheated, I was actually surprised! At least a little bit. A part of me had a feeling he was/would after he was the library scene last chapter and when he called her Maddie, but I didnât want to make false accusations. And Iâm lowkey hurt! But also, yay for Yoongi. I know that I said that he played a part in everything that went down last part, but I'm glad that it was for the better (a part of me should have expected it because you sometimes add a little twist in your stories where something is not what it seems, for example âExes and Superher-oâsâ at least somewhere, but I caught it too lateđ) Iâm glad though that he was trying to tell her without telling her, you know?Â
While reading this part, I was actually really glad that you presented characters, especially a main character, who are flawed because it gives us a chance to not immediately sit and point fingers. Especially in this situation where they both cheated (though one was completely worse than the other. They're the same situation but different responses), but I feel like I would be called a hypocrite if I didnât take in everything. But still, screw Finn.
Also, have I told you that I LOVE Noelle? Because I do. She's honestly the best friend anyone could have and Iâm happy that the main character confided in her. She gives such honest and genuine answers that feel so simple and obvious when she speaks (And can Noelle also yell at me to block/delete convos with peopleđ?)Â Â
And Sabrina! I knew I felt for her for a reason at the beginning. My heart aches for her because I understand how it feels to think that you only have yourself to rely on, and I feel sorry that she was put in that position by her mother. I hope that her and the main character can be friends one day, or at least somewhat close to it, and that her and Eamon can get back together.Â
The ending is what really got me in the feels. She finally confessed to Jimin, but Iâm glad that sheâs taking time to heal and become herself again before getting into another relationship. She deserves the world and I hope that if/when the day comes where she comes back to Jimin (I cried when Jimin told her that btw), that sheâs happy. Jimin cares for her and he showed so much sincerity and gentleness when she began to tear up (I was too when Jimin said that he hated seeing her sad), so I just wish them the best.
Thank you so much Shanna for this. I donât think my heart is ready for the epilogue, but I canât wait to read it. Now Iâm going to play âthank u, nextâ on my way out. Sending you lots of love!!!đ

âIt is my right and duty to seek the Luna alongside all of you.â His round little jaw clenched stubbornly. âIâm not afraid.â
Aaaahhhh!! Viiiii!
I squealed when I saw that you updated this story. I remember binging it not too long ago and all of the feelings it brought me then, but binging it also made me realize that everything in my memories got jumbled up, so I reread it, and it is still SO GOOOOODDD!!! Youâve done such a fantastic job with this series, and everything flows so nicely. I can tell how much thought youâve put into this story, not only here in the main plot, but Iâve seen all of the asks where youâve given us more detail to the characters and the story and wowâŠ.The world youâve built so complex but oh so beautiful. I love it so much!
Okay, okay. Now that thatâs overâŠ
The more I read about the dynamics between Jimin and the main character, the more I see that they were literally destined to be together. The flashback you wrote proved that even more, and it was so heartfelt to know how bonded they are. Even as little kids. But of course, out of the safety for the Lunaâs companion, she had to sacrifice what she knew to be true to make sure that Jimin was okay. That moment broke my heart a little, but it was for the best, so it softened the wound just a tad.
And I would like to say that I love Seokjin. Heâs such an enticing character. Heâs witty, charming, and clever. And even though I know what Seokjin did to the foreign clan was terrifying, it was awfully amusing too. To win a fight without lifting a finger is a powerful move, but I was clapping for him in my mind.
The ending gave me chills while reading the Lunaâs words. I love that she is so confident in not only herself but Jimin, and itâs a pivotal moment where you know that Jimin is more powerful that what we have currently seen so far, so I canât wait for that moment to come. Iâll be bringing my snacks for that part.đ
Thank you so much Vi for this story. It lifts me up whenever Iâm not in the best mood, or even if I am in a good mood, it makes the atmosphere surrounding me so much brighter. I canât wait to read what happens next. Especially the female Alpha, Azira Kai. She seems interesting and Iâm not sure if thatâs a good or bad thing yet. Anyways, sending you my loveđ

âââââââÂ
Fifteen Years AgoâŠ
âââââââÂ
âIt canât be-â
âRun for the elders! Quickly!Â
âRed smoke rises from the Lunaâs hearth!â
The red smoke was invented by the first wolf known to mate a witch. Legend has it that their bond lent him some of her magic and with it he created a mystical powder that unleashed bloody plumes like knife slashes in the clouds.Â
It was a distress call.Â
A wolf in danger or in need could throw the powder (usually into their fireplace) and the red smoke would rise - drawing others to their aid.Â
No fire was needed and the strange shimmering clouds it produced could even be seen on a moonless night.Â
âWhat happened? Where is the Luna?â
The chief elder was still out of breath, having charged over from his chambers to find Isa in hysterics.Â
âSheâs gone! Something scared her! It triggered a half-shift!â
His eyes widened in fear and alarm.Â
âSheâs too young to half-shift. The energy it would take-â
Isa broke into sobs again.Â
The girl was only five years old. She and her wolf were too volatile to merge safely. The wolf would be frightened - it would run.Â
Eventually the child might regain control, but she would have no way of knowing where she was or how she got thereâŠÂ
And she would be weak. The effects of the shift were too much for a pup that age.Â
The chief elder felt true terror grip his heart.Â
âCall for the alphas - immediately!â

Although they were technically one of the oldest bloodlines in the village, Park Clan had only five families to its name - all betas.Â
Except for one.Â
Park Jimin was the first alpha ever born to the Parks and as such he became the head of his family on the day of his birth - officially the youngest clan leader in history.Â
When the call for alphas spread through the village, nine year-old Jimin was roused from his bed to serve on behalf of his people.Â
Clan alphas were required to report, regardless of their age.Â
âI donât have to tell any of you what is at stake. Our pack has been entrusted with the Lunaâs bloodline. Her safety is our sacred commission.â
The woods were no place for a child. If fluctuating temperatures and possible starvation werenât bad enough, there were wild bears, packless ferals, rogue witches, snakes, and worst of all-
Unblessed wolvesâanimals without a human heart. They were by far the most pressing danger to the little girl.Â
âSurely young Park can remain at home for this,â Jeon Jinseok pressed. The boy was barely older than his grandson, Jungkook, and he was reluctant to endanger another pup needlessly.Â
Some quiet murmurs of assent could be heard around the elderâs chambers, however the chief elder himself shook his head sadly.Â
âI understand your concern⊠but the law is the law. Every clan alpha is sworn to such a task. He took an oath after his first transformation-â
âHe was seven-â
âAn oath is still an oath.â
All eyes turned to the gentle voice in the corner. The Park alpha looked impossibly small and soft.Â
But his gaze burned with determination.Â
âIt is my right and duty to seek the Luna alongside all of you.â His round little jaw clenched stubbornly. âIâm not afraid.â

As the door closes behind you and clicks into place, you sigh. Youâve made it here. That was harder than you thought. But today everything seemed hard. Maybe this day was especially hard, but maybe the whole week was hard. Maybe the whole year has been harder than you thought.
Reading this was cathartic.
I know that I told you this prior to now, but I read this late at night. A day where, strangely, it was the first time this semester where I went to bed at a semi-decent hour and had enough time to read this when I did. Maybe thatâs also why I teared up as I read this, too.
I donât want to analyze this too much because I feel like enough was already said, and especially with a piece like this, I'd rather just feel than think. But August, I sincerely thank you for sharing this with us. I feel like you were able to depict exactly what I and many others might be feeling right now, and even if it might not be a perfect parallel to oneâs life, the sense of being exhausted and overwhelmed is a feeling that everyone has faced before. So, I thank you for being a comfort to not only me but to others on this vast platform. Thank you for being the reason for some of my brightest smiles and why I can find my heart beating just a little bit slower whenever Iâm anxious. But, before I go, Iâd just like to add in this bit:
And so he holds you in his arms with gentleness and just breathes with you. With every breath you take together he wills his love for you into his fingers that stroke your back in tender circles. You donât know how long the two of you stand in the dark hallway, but after a while your breath starts to steady a bit and his warmth and the calmness he exudes warm up your tense muscles and adrenaline ridden nerves. Your cheeks, tired from a thousand forced smiles, start to relax and the cracks that stress has formed fill up with the comfort his arms provide.
Hugs to me, mean a lot. It's like the other person who is holding you is trying to keep you from breaking. Trying to gently hold and mold you back together with their comfort. But sometimes, it's okay to break in the arms of the people that you love because theyâll be there to hold and protect you until you are able to plant your feet firmly on the ground again. As this story was like a hug to me, I hope that my words can be a hug for you, August.
Iâm not really sure how many people read my reviews, and I think that this might be the first time that I'm breaking and stepping out of this bubble between you and I, but for anyone else who may be reading this, I hope that you know that you are enough and that youâre enough. You're doing well, and Iâm so proud of you.
Thank you so much, August for sharing this piece. I'm also very thankful for our friendship. Sometimes I feel like you can read my mind, and so you end up popping in whenever my late-night thoughts are anxiety-ridden, so Iâm very grateful to have you in my life. Iâm sending you so much love and hugs, my dear friend.

Your hand trembles a little bit when you reach into the pocket of your coat to get your keys. How you got from your office to this door will remain a mystery to you, the last 30 minutes a blur of streets and busses that your body navigated on autopilot. Your fingers find the keys and it takes another shaky breath to take them out and then another one before you use them to open the door.
