Finally Finished It! Anatomically "accurate" Sebastian!
Finally finished it! Anatomically "accurate" Sebastian!

(Image ID: Sebastian Solace from the game Pressure. He is much more realistic and fishlike. His head takes inspiration from a blue whale, silver spinyfin, anglerfish, sea snake, and other miscellaneous animals. His torso mostly human, save for the blue coloration and the three more sets of arms right above where his thighs would be. His naga tail has three more sets of armoured legs, and coils around in a snake fashion, terminating in a whale tail. End ID)
References and extra under the cut!

(Image ID: The same image but with multiple animal photos in the background. They are of a:
Blue whale,
Anglerfish,
Spinyfin,
Great White,
Sea snake,
And two mantis shrimp, one ventral and one dorsal. End ID)

(Image ID: Three headshots of Sebastian. The lowest middle one is the biggest. He has a neutral expression and his head is tilted slightly upright, showcasing the reptilian scales that make up his skin. The upper right one is him gently smiling with his eyes creased, while the upper left one is him enraged and screaming. End ID)

I have wanted to see a tiger beetle larva my entire life, but never did until @revretch suddenly spotted one scurrying around by the river yesterday. They normally spend all their time hiding in a tunnel like a trap door spider, so I never thought I'd see one out and about in broad daylight! I recognized the big, flat head and the little hump on its back instantly!

Just noticed this diagram has it hunting a velvet ant....can they really do that? Are they THAT tough???

I also wasn't sure they could be raised easily, because I heard they're particular about the density and moisture level of the sand they tunnel into. What if it was running around because the sand wasn't quite right in that spot?! I scooped some up anyway, and I used a twig to poke holes in it, just to see if MAYBE it'd deem one a suitable house. The next morning I found it like you see in the following video, and I wondered if it felt comfortable enough to eat the way it does in the wild, so in the clip I also drop a pantry moth caterpillar into the jar:
New name: Whistler People! They're called such because humanity knows them for their sound-based technology that often whistles. I'm still working on them but just know I'll keep the mostly in the dark for now, and focus on their pets instead!
Here's a crude drawing of a Whistler Person with a generic pet Parvae on a leash.

I'm putting acid rain and normal rain and low gravity in the Headsplitter world so I can make the sophonts there giant mollusk-proxies and I was gonna call them the Cascadians but that's way too cool. One day I'll come up with something boring instead.

Fun fact: they actually move without joints! Their legs are powered via hydraulics, and they move by retracting and stretching out the different feet with liquid, much like a sea star! Think of it like this:

No no don't worry they still kind of fit
