Inktober 2018, Day 5 And Day 6 Sketches Of Alex Cyprin (Astoria Fates Kiss/Lost Kisses) And JD (Havenfall

Inktober 2018, Day 5 and Day 6 sketches of Alex Cyprin (Astoria Fate’s Kiss/Lost Kisses) and JD (Havenfall is for Lovers). I haven’t read JD’s route, but my Tumblr dash was filled with posts/screenshots of their route a while back. I can tell they are a fun-loving character with a big heart.

It seems JD also knows Alex from a long time ago? I really, really wonder if Alex and JD ever rode motorcycles together. Thus, I sketched them both holding helmets…perhaps about to go out for a ride together? (For those who forgot or have never read Alex Cyprin’s Fate’s Kiss route, they rode a motorcycle with Dionysus down the pacific coast highway in the past.)

Inktober 2018, Day 7 and Day 8, sketches of Helena and MC in fantasy land outfits. Holy shit, my style changed so much since the last time I drew them 4-6 months ago. And, if the cape looks familiar, it’s cause I wanted to go for Anime-realism style so I used my cosplay cape as reference. That’s how a hooded cape actually sits on your shoulders in real life while you’re moving around.

The above quote isn’t from Helena’s season 4, but I’m putting it here cause I’ll explain in my next Inktober post. Take a moment to think about it and analyze the double meaning of the words in relation to season 4.

Sry I’m a week late on reviewing this…I’m severely behind on reading stories at the moment, but I just wanted to compliment that Helena’s season 4, ep1-3 was handled very professionally by Voltage. The transition from the heart wrenching, emotional moments of season 3 that moved readers to tears, into the light-hearted moments of season 4 was done beautifully. Of course, the only critique is that the whole curse breaking method was textbook fantasy, but that’s what stories are for, to give us moments of magic. Wouldn’t wish for it any other way. That was a lot of emotions and story plot squeezed into 3 episodes, but it was skillfully executed. Episodes 1-3 may as well be a mini-story in itself, since it teaches us that the desire to recapture true love transcends even the darkest of our inner demons.

The only thing getting me through this VN hiatus is going to be writing. Why did they shelve VN? There’s a bunch of other series they could have paused instead of it. VN and L&L are the only two series that I actually love.

Starship has run its course and Atlas is the only one I truly enjoy / look forward to reading through (Nova’s route has plunged off a cliff and Tyrian’s route is a huge disappointment). Havenfall is not bad but I only play a few characters. Astoria Lost Kisses is a lost cause considering Astoria’s popularity dwindled a long time ago…

They really had to shelve VN…I get that it’s hard to keep up with routes when you only have 4 weeks in between updates, so it’s stressful on the teams to get the characters in on time, but couldn’t they have adjusted better? Added Bat (and maybe Zeke) to curve that time crunch or devoted more staff to it?

Out of all the series Lovestruck could have shelved, VN should have been at the very bottom.

I’m bitter and disappointed. Writing will keep my sanity.

Inktober 2018, Day 11, Alain Richter (Love & Legends) holding a white rose. Was I the only one tearing up after reading the recent release of August’s route? Oh my god, that scene was just beautiful, yet painful as fuck to read. And, they even used his theme song in the background. My heart aches… (T_T)’’’

My first post on Tumblr was to submit fanart to Voltage for the hearts in February 2018. And, the first character I drew was Alain. I’m quite happy with the improvements I’ve made since February for my drawings. Though, there is always room for improvement. And, I think I drew his armor more accurately this time around. I’m just so excited I was able to redraw Alain holding a white rose again!

I know Alain’s not a popular character, but he’s my favorite male character from Love & Legends. His plot and writer have been a target of some critical confessions. But, I think that we should respect all the characters, stories, and people who work on them. With that being said, Alain season 4 is coming and I’m excited!
