Happy Birthday Alex Cyprin. I love you because you are selfless, down-to-earth, humble, and pure-hearted. Even as a fictional character in the stories, your genuine actions and dialogue warm my heart.
If you saw my previous fan art post of Alex Cyprin, this is the sequel with the lotus flowers in full bloom. I turned the scene 180 to reflect the sunrise and change of mood. The theme for this drawing is courage. Alex Cyprin is looked down on for being a demigod by Olympus and even their siblings, but they never let that get to them. They are proud of who they are and that takes courage.

Just as beauty is more than the cover of a book, Courage is not built on the pillars of strength, for true courage is always following your heart no matter the sacrifices. Alex Cyprin’s courage to be themselves and carve their own path inspires the lotus flowers in our hearts to bloom.

Inktober 2018, Day 5 and Day 6 sketches of Alex Cyprin (Astoria Fate’s Kiss/Lost Kisses) and JD (Havenfall is for Lovers). I haven’t read JD’s route, but my Tumblr dash was filled with posts/screenshots of their route a while back. I can tell they are a fun-loving character with a big heart.

It seems JD also knows Alex from a long time ago? I really, really wonder if Alex and JD ever rode motorcycles together. Thus, I sketched them both holding helmets…perhaps about to go out for a ride together? (For those who forgot or have never read Alex Cyprin’s Fate’s Kiss route, they rode a motorcycle with Dionysus down the pacific coast highway in the past.)

Inktober 2018, Day 16, sketch of Medusa from Astoria Fate’s Kiss/Lost Kisses. Sorry Medusa, you’re a sweet lady and I love your taste in rare tea (oolong is my fav too) and passion for books, but Alex Cyprin stole my heart in your route. Uh, so…I kinda’ never finished your Fate’s Kiss story lol…though, I did enjoy season 1 of Lost Kisses a lot!
Also, I figure since the story is based a lot off Greek mythology, why not have her holding the book of the most influential philosopher in ancient Greece and the Western world? I’m in the progress of finishing the complete works of Plato, pretty much just read a couple stories a day. There’s over 1500 pages so, it’s quite bulky…thank god for Kindle APP. I also have collections of books from other philosophers, it’s like my pocket library! xD
My favorite portion in the book is “Apology” though it makes me depressed sometimes. To summarize it in my own words and thoughts, Socrates was a man who was just doing what he loved to do, teach philosophy. But, he was put on trial because others thought it was corrupt.
“My plainness of speech makes them hate me, and what is their hatred but a proof that I am speaking the truth.” (Socrates, from the Apology)
It’s pretty sad right? It breaks my heart that good people get judged and punished for what they love to do. But, I truly admire Socrates for staying true to his beliefs and not running away from his execution. He continued to teach until his last days before his death, never blaming those who prosecuted him.
