I don't know what this is from, but I thought it was Sam and Frodo.

Shall we talk about how Sam is always Frodo’s first thought? I mean, Frodo cares for him immensely. When he wakes up in Rivendell in the first book practically the first thing he asks Gandalf is “where is Sam?” only then he worries about the others. When he is about to leave the company he lists the only people in the company he really trusts and the first one is Sam. Moreover he struggles to leave the company especially because of Sam since he can not imagine leaving him. Then when Sam manages to get on the boat Frodo laughs. He laughs, for the first time since he Bilbo left practically and he is so glad that in the end the fate had brought them back together to go to Mordor. We should talk more often about how immensely they BOTH care for each other and love each other.

Frodo’s smaller hands compared to Aragorn’s is making my father son antics radiate from my skin

Comforting Frodo through the journey to Mordor headcanons

In the beginning of your journey to Mount Doom, you try to persuade Frodo to not carry the ring all on his own. You propose taking shifts in carrying it so that everyone splits the burden.

But you quickly realise how unsafe and even angry that makes him so you resort to trying to lighten his burden as best as you can

when he can’t sleep at night, (which is the case basically every night) you just hold him in your arms and run your fingers through his hair

this takes his mind off the ring and enables him to relax for a bit. Some nights he will even get a little bit of sleep.

when you begin messing with his curls he lets out the most adorable little sigh. When you chuckle he gets embarrassed and won’t look you in the eye for the rest of the night

whenever he breaks down exhausted or loses hope you embrace him in a tight hug and stroke his back or hair.

his legs will give out under him and you both will sink to your knees holding each other

he will cry in your arms

A lot

not just lightly. Full on sobbing, shaking, screaming

whenever you see him cry your heart breaks into a thousand pieces. So you hold him really tight and whisper reassuring words into his ear until he has calmed down

he gets really cold when he cries so you always wrap your cloak around him and when he has calmed down you rub his arms quickly to generate warmth

in general if he gets cold he will snuggle up to you to get a share of your body warmth

You spent so many nights sitting at the fire, while Sam was already asleep, talking

You are always there to listen to what’s on his mind. You talk about his worries, how the ring makes him feel and about everything that’s bothering him.

You often talk about your lives back in the shire too. You try to imagine what it’s like there at the moment and dream about what you would do if you were back home.

When he’s sad you try to cheer him up with funny stories from your youth or about Merry and Pippin's adventures.

This always makes him laugh

It is a fine line between making Frodo laugh and wrapping him up in cosy nostalgia and reminding him of everything he misses and has left behind but you learn to walk it well

When Gollum joines you, you work hard to keep Frodo's trust

You talk about everything you hear Gollum say to him and constantly remind him that he is loved and not alone and that you and Sam will never leave him or betray him.

Since then you never leave his side. You won’t give Gollum a chance to talk to Frodo alone.

At night you hold him close. Primarily because you see that the ring is taking a bigger toll on his mind but also because you won’t let Gollum get anywhere near him or the ring when you are unconscious.

when you get closer to Mount Doom Frodo needs a lot more support

You take care of the wounds the ring chain is causing. You make creams out of healing herbs and put them on his neck

At first, he won't let you, since he is afraid you just want the ring but you manage to convince Frodo that you just want to take care of him.

You wrap the chain into pieces of fabric you take from your cloak so that it isn't as sharp on Frodo's skin

If the pain gets really bad he will allow you to hold the chain over his neck. He won't take it off but in this way, you can help him carry the weight of the ring

He can't appreciate your help in the moment, since the ring is clouding his mind but he will be eternally grateful for your support once the ring is destroyed and you two are back in the shire.
